IT 005: My Weird Pre-Coaching Ritual + Mercury Retrograde

Oct. 20, 2015

Click here for the audio link to today’s Podcast. Or read the transcription of the audio below. How are you hanging in there this Mercury Retrograde?

It's only been a few days, but I can already feel its intense effect on communication (old issues came out of nowhere with my hubby, and technology has not been my friend today!). If you have no idea what I'm talking about, today's podcast is for you.

I'll also be sharing why rituals are super important for intuitives and introverts, along with my favorite rituals.

Not an audio learner? That's OK. Read the article transcription below.

Today I want to talk about the importance of rituals & share some of my own rituals that I use to stay grounded and connected to the universe.

What The Heck is Mercury Retrograde?!

But first, I want to wish you a safe Mercury Retrograde! If you don’t know what Mercury Retrograde is yet, do a quick search on Google. It’s a time period of a few weeks that happens about 3-4 times a year where everything associated with the planet Mercury, the planet ruling communication, goes wonky.

So technology is prone to messing up, communication with other people can be misinterpreted, and weird things happen. Also, things that have been hiding tend to come up  during this time– think old friends, old issues, things you’ve been avoiding. This Mercury Retrograde started on September 17 and ends on October 9, 2015. Stay sane out there!

The Power of Rituals for Intuitives & Introverts

Alright, so let’s get into talking about the importance of rituals. Rituals are important for everyone (think having a sweet sixteen, getting married, having a baby shower), but they are extra important for intuitives & introverts because it helps to ground them and provides a framework to understand themselves and their lives on a regular basis.

Rituals thread together our daily lives, and helps us create meaning in the every day.

They provide us with a sacred space by calling us to the present moment.

They also give our brains much needed rest, since they often don’t require much brainpower.

Rituals allow us to just be.

What Rituals Do You Already Have In Place?

With fall coming in a few days, I thought it was the perfect time to give you some rituals.

I bet you already have some rituals for fall.

Do you pick out pumpkins, take your sweaters out of hiding, or make your favorite fall recipes this time of year?

Those are rituals that signify the beginning of fall.

Side note: In the previous Intuitive Tuesday, I referenced my fall ritual from last year, so if you haven’t checked that out, click here.

My Pre-Coaching Ritual, My Monthly Ritual, and My Yearly Fall Ritual

Rituals don’t have to be tied to the change in season (though that’s always fun!). You can also have daily rituals, monthly rituals, or yearly rituals. Or you can have rituals based on an activity – for example, I always open the window and meditate before my coaching sessions. I also ask the Universe to help my client hear exactly what they need in our session, and I picture them in my mind and send them tons of love and light (if you've coached with me before... yes, that is intentional!).

A monthly ritual I’ve been doing for the past 3 months is a monthly angel card reading at the new moon. It lets me know what I can expect for the cycle ahead, and is always really fun! I set the scene by clearing the space with sage, lining up my crystals and seashells, and sometimes, lighting candles.

A yearly ritual I like to do in fall is checking in with how I’m doing with living in alignment with my Core Desired Feelings. If you’re new to my work, core desired feelings are the way that I plan my lifestyle – it’s a holistic life planning where I focus on the end feelings, not the end goals. If you’re interested in learning more, stay tuned for the upcoming launch of my Desire Map 1-on-1 coaching program.

Create Rituals & Create Some Space For Magic to Happen!

What about you? I invite you to write down a list of your current rituals, and see what new rituals you’d like to create. Then, schedule it in – as my mentor Marie Forleo says, if it’s not scheduled, it’s not real!

I hope that this has served you, and I will see you next next Tuesday for the next session of Intuitive Tuesday.
