O2 Making Waves 9th Nov'07 - Dry County

Nov. 2, 2007

It's safe to say that Dry County don't sound like many other bands. Their music drips with an atmosphere so dense it could crush you whole. Every track seems to employ a mind boggling array of often normal but sometimes peculiar sounds and instruments. Noteworthy among these is the 'speak and spell' children's toy that announces the words 'lost now' on the track of the same name. Experimental and innovative to the core and with a rock-dance hybrid which makes categorising them rather difficult, Dry County finally released their debut album earlier in the year after a rapid metamorphosis in their sound prompted them to discard much of the material that they had written for the album stretching back months and even years. Presenter Rory Dungan caught up with Phil and Derek in studio to chat to them about their sound. You can email any comments you have on Dry County and the show to makingwaves@podcastingireland.ie
