O2 Making Waves 19th Dec '08 - The Saw Doctors

Dec. 19, 2008

Twenty-two years ago, The Saw Doctors decided to take on the world with their uniquely Irish brand of rock and pop music. Against all odds, they won the battle, and today they are one of our most successful musical exports. After a seventeen-year break, the Tuam band has recorded a number one in the Irish music charts. They successfully chased off international artists like Kings of Leon and Pink to reach the coveted number one position, with a cover version of the Sugababes hit, 'About You Now'. The band burst onto the Irish music scene in 1986 with the hit single 'I Usedta Love Her' and today they show no signs of flagging. The Saw Doctors remain true to their roots, singing with an accent and a blas and writing songs about the corner stones of Irish life. Listen to Leo and Davey as they talk to Rory Dungan about how they have achieved international success and what their expectations for the future are - only on O2 Making Waves at Feel free to email your comments to neither hosts nor alters podcast files.
