Facing accusations of dishonesty, sneakiness and aggressive tactics to discredit its critics, Facebook has gone on the defensive with a global PR blitz to rebuild its reputation. The social platform says it's getting on top of its "fake news" and spam bot problems, and is working to make elections fairer worldwide. But can we believe the spin? And why is it getting harder to test Facebook's claims independently?
