Indy In-Tune #086: Brian Pitzer

Feb. 13, 2011

As with the last episode, this week's show has been a long time in the making and completes our two-part look into the Frankfort music scene (see ) as we sample the music of Brian Pitzer.  Brian is another one of those multi-faceted players who easily blends and moves between several styles of music – blues, folk, rock, modern country just to name a few.  Talking to Brian, you quickly understand that he is a very savvy guy with a lot going on beneath the surface than just playing a few restaurants, coffee houses, and open-air markets.  Only hinted at in his lyrics is a wisdom, and often a dark one, that bears closer scrutiny than one listen, or one podcast interview, can sufficiently explore. As the interview indicates, however, his current body of music only scratches the surface of where his true loves and influences lie.   During the show, he talks a lot about his marketing and business strategies through various networking and organizational memberships which channeled him into professional coaching and mentoring, and finally into working directly with the Nashville recording scene.  Always evolving, he is currently working on his next album, which promises to lean more on the rock-and-roll side of the spectrum, and is in the early stages of forming a band to take his music to the next level.  A sharp contrast when one considers all of the singer/songwriters in the area who have been getting away from the “band setting” and into to more intimate settings where Brian has already made his mark.  Links referenced in the show:  Brian Pitzer can be found here: | | |   His latest album, "The Hall" is available via his Reverb Nation page.  His prior album, "A Few Good Songs" can be purchased from , , and .  "The Hall" was recorded at by   (who also played bass) The album also features Derek Marsh of the band .
