Getting To Know Poet/Activist Soteria

Soteria has worked professionally as an instructor at a local community college giving voice to those who are marginalized and those who are transitioning from one stage in their life to another. She has taught in prison, shelters, the community and the classroom. She has worked as a reentry specialist helping people are returning from prison back into society, supporting them through connecting them to resources such as housing and job support as well as helping them redefine who they are in the world and in their own story. She has been using poetry as a tool of engagement for over 10 years. Some of her performances include performing at the Carolina Theatre, Red Hat, the Raleigh Convention Center and the International Civil Rights Museum. Recently she has performed at the 2019 & 2020 Women's March in Raleigh NC. She has spoken in prisons, conferences, schools, churches and even internationally. In January of 2019 Soteria launched the very first I AM SOTERIA & FRIENDS where she has sought to give artist a platform to share their artistic voices to elevate the suppressed voices of the world and contribute to the movement of equity, hope, humanity and justice for all. She has had 5 events. The events thus far have focused on Unity & Justice, Juneteenth, and Hip Hop and how they relate to the world as a whole. neither hosts nor alters podcast files.
