This weeks portion is chosen from Isaiah chapter 1:1-27. As we are commemorating this week the terrible destruction of Jerusalem, it is appropriate to read the words of Isaiah, the words spoken to the people as the Assyrian Army besieged the city. The powerful words of Isaiah are eternal. God wants us to be just, kind, and righteous. Don't bring me your prayers and sacrfices while your hands drip with the blood of the oppressed. Change your evil ways, and then I shall turn the sin-stained clothing into sheets cleansed white as snow.
