Decentering yourself from conversations will take practice, especially if it’s an unconscious habit. There is nothing wrong with you if you do this, but it is something to be aware of in your conversations. Start to recognize your patterns and practice grounding exercises to better manage your impulses in your responses. If you have an uncomfortable feeling or emotion come up, allow it to flow through you and observe it, but don’t deflect. With practice this will become second nature.
