Charles Lawson took his family into town to get new clothes and a family portrait, which was NOT normal for a family of their societal class. Then comes Christmas Day, and Charles brutally murdered his wife and 6 of his kids. The Christmas cake that Marie Lawson made that morning, the portrait of the family, and the mystery of the entire day’s events has lived on for years.
