Welcome to the show for September 2010. The Alexandra is a beautiful wet fly that dates from the middle of the 19th Century, named for Princess Alexandra of Denmark. By 1929 the Alexandra had found its way to North American and morphed into a streamer fly. Hard Brothers, being a supplier of fine fly fishing gear including flies, created a variation of the Alexandra the went onto become a productive sea trout fly in the UK and Europe. The Hardy Brother Demon may have a long and convoluted history, but it's a fly that still can catch fish if you tie one on your tippet. Easy to tie, amazingly productive and beautiful to look at, it's a fly everyone needs to carry.
