The Sixers Battle In the East (PST Show #292)

Dec. 21, 2018

The Philadelphia 76'ers are battling it out with the top teams in the Eastern Conference as we're about 1/3 of the way done with this NBA season. We've seen some great basketball from this group of young and veteran players, and we've also witnessed some challenges and growing pains. To talk about this team's trajectory with us this week is Emily Anderson, contributor at LibertyBallers.com. We'll get into Joel Embiid's conditioning, the bench and the team's defensive performance.
But first, on the Brief News & Views segment:
1. Eagles Talk: we call ourselves out, thoughts on wild card chances, and scoring predictions for the game vs. the Texans. (7:10)
2. Flyers Talk: Hakstol's firing, Gordon's now coaching and seeing Carter Hart in front of the net for the first time as a Flyer. (21:30)
3. Phillies Talk: Freedman has left the front office, and concerns over Harper and/or Machado not signing with the team. (38:50)
Then we get into our Up or Down segment where we briefly analyze Philly sports figures to determine if their needle is moving up or down. (49:50)
What we're throwing down on the Table this week is a great interview with Emily Anderson from Liberty Ballers SB Nation site. First, we discussed who might be the team's MVP at this moment in the season. From there, we discussed whether or not Joel Embiid has a conditioning issue. After that subject, we dove into the team's huge dip in terms of their defensive performance. What might happen with Markelle Fultz down the road, and might Austin Rivers be a good fit on this team? We also discussed Landry Shamet's development as a two guard and Brett Brown's tenure thus far. All of this and much more this week on the Table! (56:45)
