Mike Belton is forced to accept the resignation of his close friend Sylvester from the Peacehaven UFO Society (PUS). His young buddy becomes attracted to the bright lights of Saltdean and an ageing local figure, Malcolm, whose rival UFO Society is looking to recruit. Malcolm is eager to get the youthful lad on board. The ignorant and ineffectual Sylvester learns some hard lessons as he slowly discovers that Malcolm's intentions have little to do with UFOs and everything to do with "making money".
