The Beginning of the End

Reviews For The Beginning of the End

I discovered this podcast from reading an article about Detroit podcasts worth listening to. I wound up listening to the entire first season in one sitting! Episodes aren’t too long — they could actually stand to be a bit longer probably. It’s the perfect combination of weird + interesting, and is totally relatable. Not only worth checking out, but worth getting in to.
I love this Podcast. The topics and delivery are great. I also like that it is focused on Southern Michigan...at least so far. Good work!
The end is too often a sad event. This gives me enough distance to find the joy in the conclusion of one chapter which yields the the beginning of the next. Keep it up.
Alex leads us through stories of change unlike anyone else out there. Love this show!
Interesting topics and enjoyable discoveries.
I enjoy Alex’s incorporation of his narrative history with The Moth combined with the show's original insight. As a Detroiter, there’s an additional attraction to some of the Detroit-centric stories. The show about Cass Tech grads was especially heartfelt and - hopeful. Intriguing, Insightful. Enjoy.
Love this podcast! Real people, raw, fresh, relatable, well produced and engaging!! Can't wait for each episode!

I look forward to these stories. A podcast that talks about the thing we all care about most…the end!
Interesting and captivating stories... Def worth a listen
This show scores high marks for originality, structure, and surprise. As an avid podcast listener I look for well-produced, creative content that tells interesting stories in interesting ways. BOTE certainly delivers and follows in the tradition of quality podcast programming like TAL, Radiolab, Serial, and Soundcheck. Bravo to Alex and the WDETFM team; you’ve hit a homerun.
One of my favorite podcasts. I'm always looking forward to the next episode. Keep it up!
Wonderful. Exactly what I'd expect from Alex Trajano - smart, funny, touching... I anxiously await each new installment.
Wonderful show. Always fascinating topics. Excellent reporting/interviews. VERY professional!
Found this podcast by searching around for new podcasts, and now I can’t wait for each episode. Alex does a wonderful job and the stories are always interesting and put together well.
Jumped in with episode three and enjoyed the universal message of someone dealing with the thought of losing their parent(s). Episode four was even better, but seemed to focus on one of the subjects graduating high school more than others and ended up feeling like a series of audio diaries from that subject.
The topics are interesting and I love the format and the host and I can really see the show growing into something great given exposure and time. Give it a try!
Great job Alex & Co. I love having a well produced podcast with great stories of the people of Detroit and hearing our talented bands in the mix as well. Keep it up
Super addition to my podcast library! It has that great storytelling RadioLab/NPR podcast vibe but with a unique edge (maybe it’s the Detroit thing). Love the theme and am really excited to see where Alex (superb host) and his crew will take this.
I listen to several podcasts at my desk during the work week and was so excited when WDET jumped into the podcasting game. I believe the quality & story-telling of the podcasts is growing with each episode. I was really touched by the "Death of a Parent" episode, as I think a lot of people can relate to both Alex's intro (I too lost my dad at around the same age as he did) and to Henry's story of his dad & grandpa. I really look forward to listening as this podcast continues to evolve!

I love the different stories that revolve around one theme: the end. Such different outlooks on what 'the end' could be. Production is amazing and the stories are heartfelt.
I’m super excited about this podcast! Excellent editing and compelling stories so far.
The premise of the show alone is so short sighted that the imagination does not have very far to go to complete the story in your head before you hear it. Instead of allowing these stories to take on a life of their own, they are forced into the narrow scope defined within title of the show. There is no walkaway factor, just another regular everyday story with no intrinsic lessons. Two shows in and bored to tears.
Alex is awesome! Great idea for a podcast and even better execution. #subscribed
Anticipating future episodes!
Episode one will draw you in and leave you wanting more. The storytelling is sharp and the twists are authentic - Alex cracks just a bit at one point when he can't believe what he's just heard. Small details like that make this a rewarding podcast.

Wow this was painful.
I look forward to the next episode!
An enthusiastic early review, this is a great theme for a podcast and the first episode was brilliantly executed. Well done WDET… Can’t wait for more.
This show is so good. The concept is really interesting and I love the quality of the production. Alex Trajano's personality (and voice) is perfect for this type of podcast. Another great thing coming out of Detroit!
I'm always happy to find a new, fresh, and innovative storytelling series. Makes the ride shorter. The day easier. This is a good show!

I love how real and meaningful this is!!!
I was listening while driving, and I could not get out of the car until the story ended. Everybody can relate to all that goes into endings and beginnings. You got my attention. Thanks..
I'm really looking forward to the rest of the episodes as they're released. It's a fascinating series so far.
I've had the release date for this podcast in my calendar since I got the e-newsletter from WDET about a month ago. Great first episode and really excited to continue to hear stories from this perspective! Awesome production quality, great host and editing style. Makes me feel like I'm right there at the table listening to the conversations/interviews. THANKS WDET, Alex and crew!

I was listening to WDET this morning and heard the show. I got sucked into the story so much that I realized I was driving 10 mile under the 55 mile speed limit. Great show!
You may know Alex Trajano from his six years of hosting the Moth at Cliff Bell's in Detroit, or from the humorous, sound-rich spots he puts together for WDET's pledge drives, or you might know him from one of the bands he plays in or from his work recording live in-studio music sessions for WDET. But now you will know him from this podcast, WDET's first, and an engaging showcase of Trajano's many talents. This is a podcast on par with the best in national storytelling, coming straight out of Detroit. I have been awaiting the launch of this show and I'm pleased to say the first episode exceeded my expectations.
Total great show- I even liked the ads… Seriously, this has all the best qualities of The Moth, This American Life, etc - but is all about endings…. granted, I am a bit obsessed with the topic of how things end, but were I not, I would still love this podcast. Great production, lovely interviewing, excellent story arch, and a perfect blend of humanity, empowerment, and lending voice to a story that needed to be shared. Lovely work!!
is very good.
I’m grateful for this new show. Alex’s blend of humor, sound design, and narrative drive is a refreshing addition to the increasingly crowed podcast space. I’m coming back for more.
The intro alone earned five stars. Can’t wait for this podcast! Yay WDET!
