I just love this woman. What a bright light that I needed in my life, at the right time. She's pleasant to listen to, offers easy and practical advice and always uplifts. Namaste
I'm one episode in and the content is really refreshing. It feels like we are all sitting back with a glass of wine having a high level conversation. It's good. The message is so poignant to what's been going on in my journal. Keep it up.
Inspirational and constructive. Positive vives and wonderful results.
Just love these wonderful interviews and talks on creativity and magic! So so refreshing and affirming.
Every hit of inspiration I've ever needed.
From EPL to TED Talks to Big Magic, I've become more and more fearless in myself and writing. This podcast is another forum in which to be inspired and fearless. Thanks, Elizabeth Gilbert!
Beautiful and inspiring.
You opened my ears to the podcast world. Not sure how I found you but this podcast brought out the explorer in me...I found alternate ones that have inspired me...and books to push the creative in me...planning to do something BIG!
Perfect topic and beautifully produced, I'd love to see this podcast continue. Hell, I would like to help produce this podcast! It fills a niche that is very much needed in the podcast world.
Please beep out the foul language. Many of your listeners have young children in the car. Young girls/woman need to hear these topics- there is so much inspiration for them. Sadly the foul language will prevent your message from reaching some who really need it. Please consider this request.
Elizabeth Gilbert is a really great host and podcaster. You can feel her warmth and enthusiasm towards the people she is interviewing. It makes me feel very inspired and more human with how I am creatively.
will there be more? i adore this show!! it's a wonderful support and inspiration for my creative life. thank you, Liz :)
I listened to this way back when it came out and I'm still recommending it to almost everyone I talk to. Fantastic series, I wish it would keep going forever. Come back, Liz! The world needs more magic lessons!
So generous and loving. What a great lady. Would love to hear more about when you dove in and are "living the dream" but are plateauing.
Thank you so much you made me take my decision on publishing my book!
Last heard her podcast 9-16 -15. Is it canceled?
Look, I loved Eat Pray Love as much as anybody. I think Liz Gilbert is great. But the pedestal she's on in this podcast makes me pretty uncomfortable. Everyone talks in these low reverential tones as though this is some kind of religious experience. The advice doesn't have much substance to it, it just feels like self-helpy feel-good fluff. Also at one point an engineer is discussed as though you must have to sell your soul in order to become an engineer. Never mind that the entire concept of being an engineer is making and creating things, and it easily requires just as much creativity as writing a song or a book. But the mindset of this podcast is that you can only be a complete, fulfilled, joyful woman (I was going to say person but let's be honest) if you are a writer or a musician or maybe a painter or something. So, meh. I like Liz Gilbert and I like most of her guests and I think creativity is important, but it turns out this just is not for everyone.
I was looking forward to this podcast, but it has been more than a month. Is this podcast going to continue??? I miss you Elizabeth!!
I started listening to this podcast a couple of weeks ago and love it! It feels like Liz is bringing heart and soul to the creative process and teaching us ways to overcome what might be keeping us creatively stuck. I love the stories and how she brings in "expert witnesses" to weigh in on a previous story/experience. I feel inspired and have already made a significant movement forward in my creative process. Definitely plan to check out her new book!
I feel so recharged after hearing this podcast. It's so encourging and makes me think of my creativity in a different way.
Insightful, inspiring and self-deprecating - podcast perfection for creatives! Wish/hope Ms Gilbert does more!
"It would take over $10,000 for him to read "Eat, Pray, Love." - Larry David Facts Revealed On Jeff Garlin's Podcast I am with Larry David. However, when Elizabeth had Brene Brown on as a guest, I was willing to give her a chance. I was willing to hear what she had to say. And the only reason why, was because Brene was the guest. I can't say I loved or hated the podcast. What I take extreme issue with is the fact that "Depression" was referred to as " SELF INDULGENCE". Honestly I don't think either of these women have suffered clinical Major Depressive Disorder. I don't think they've spent years in therapy. I don't think - and please correct me if I am wrong, have had to be treated like a guinea pig by the medical community being handed one drug after the other in the hopes that ONE DAY unrelenting suidcidal thoughts might go away, hoping that maybe they could look forward to a "normal" life. Tell me how a mental illness ( the key word being "ILLNESS" ) is indulgent. Believe me, never in a milliion years would I chose the life I have. I wouldn't chose the brain I have. I wouldn't (despite Stephen Fry's documentary) ever WANT this life or brain or brain chemistry. It's what I've been given and I have had to learn to live with it and work with it and not become a diaagnosis. I am a person who's been blessed with a broken brain, BUT IT DOESN'T DEFINE ME. But am I SELF INDULGENT for being mentally ill? Would you call me that if I had Diabetes or Cancer? Did I choose this? No. The answer is no. I wish I could give zero stars.. You do a disservice to those who struggle every day trying to find a reason to live. And you call them self indulgent. And we wonder why mental illness is so stigmatized. Thanks Elizabeth.
Magical. Encouraging. Inspiring. Keeps sending me in new directions & introducing me to more awesome people/ideas.

Just came across this podcast during a time where I'm was trying to complete a writing project that stalled a while ago. After feeling like a creative hack, I started writing again but without the expectation of publishing and just creating for the sake of creating. The show with the artist who creates only for herself with Cheryl strays inspirational words really energized me. Elizabeth Gilbert is so empathetically present for her guests as well as giving them such fantastic advice! One criticism is that her laughing is a bit jarring on the podcast. I don't mean her particular laugh; I just find laughter on podcasts really distracting.
I started this podcast to pass the time on my commute to and from work. I ended up devouring the 12 episodes in three days. The podcast is full of great, positive, and insightful conversations. Each one I found spoke to me in a different way.
Listened to the first season twice. Can't wait for the next!
This podcast offers so much hearts & souls. Liz is awesome, empowering & inspirational. Thank you so much, Liz!
When I was faced with starting up my art career, I was also faced with paralyzing fear and procrastination. When I found out about this podcast it was as if the universe answered my plea for help. I’m finally getting going, thank you, Liz.
Liz Gilbert is smart and insightful but in this podcast she also pulls in other people to weigh in on the creative process like Ann Patchett and Judge John Hodson. She makes “making” and being creative within your grasp with philosophical insight balanced with practical suggestions. Highly recommend.
I'm so addicted to your podcast and can't wait to listen to yours even in Seoul,South Korea. I shared it with my friends and they are so crazy about it as well. Please keep working on this. Thanks.
I really like your new podcast, but the John Hodgman episode was really bad - I felt sorry for the person you were talking to him about. He was trying too hard to be funny (and he wasn’t) and made the focus on him and his accomplishments and not on your listener who needed the help. Disappointing episode. Just wanted you to know. I’ll keep listening to future episodes though! :)
Brilliant key distinctions that WE ALL need to hear to become our full expressive selves. Thank you Liz!
Really good, thought provoking stuff. I listen to this at the gym and feel like I've put something great in my head/worked my body as well.
I am a very creative person that is currently in a funk. This podcast came along at the perfect time, includes amazing conversations with other creative people that have had the same feelings, art block, concerns about self creation that I have. Thank you for taking the time to create something like this and know that I am inspired when I listen.
I only listened to one episode. There was a caller, so there was telephone audio. It didn’t sound good, and I couldn’t focus on the content at all.
I have been a fan of Elizabeth Gilbert for a long time and so when I heard that she was doing a podcast, I had to check it out. I have loved listening to her so far and I'm excited to see where she takes this podcast journey going forward. As a side note: I've seen a couple people mention her use of "adult" language and that she's too "self-helpy." If her style is not for you then move on but any fan of hers knows from her books and Facebook posts that she's very open in her communication and uses all language as she sees fit. Plus she's partially a self-help writer so that point is baffling. Anyway, keep doing your thing Liz! You rock and I can't wait for Big Magic to come out!!
Thank you so much for these magical lessons. I have listen through some of them twice they are so good. They really speak to my soul and I can relate to each person you have talked to. Thank you thank you thank you!!!
I’ve been struggling with writer’s block this past week and Magic Lessons was just what I needed to move through it. I sent the first two episodes on how to be a creative and a mother to every mother artist/writer/creator I know.
Liz Gilbert continues to inspire. In a world where young people are trying so hard to figure if it is even possible to chase dreams in a world where creativity seems to be getting squashed, Elizabeth Gilbert proves to everyone - young or not - that your dreams can be one step away, if you just tap into the potential and magic you have inside you. Thank you, Ms. Gilbert. Thank you.
If you’re looking for a way to get unstuck and get inspired around your creative urges, this podcast is for you. Liz’s amazing compassion brings the magic element of knowing what next steps to take so your creativity can be expressed beyond the limits of fear.
I’m blown away by this podcast. The love that Elizabeth Gilbert has for her fans and the way she offers wisdom straight from her heart is nothing short of magical. Liz is a rare person indeed, and I’m very glad I stumbled on this show. It really is #bigmagic.
The past couple of days, I’ve listened to the first 3 podcasts on my morning runs and have found them a great way to start the day. I am completing a life coach certification at the moment because I am passionate about helping people find their purpose, creativity and gifts. I particularly enjoy the coaching element of this podcast. Liz Gilbert offers interesting insights, many of which may be applied to our own lives, even if we aren’t necessarily aspiring writers. Looking forward to hearing more.
What is magic? I believe it is inspiring others to feel, think , and learn. This Pod cast does that and Liz is perfect for the job. I can't wait to see her on the road and get a chance to hear her speak in person. I'm so glad she took on this challenge. Lookout Robcast her comes Liz. Lol
Best author, Best Podcast! 🎭🎨🎧📚
Listening to this feels like hanging out with an inspiring friend - one who motivates you to be your best self. So excited to check out the book when it comes out, and hope more podcasts come!
In episode #2 she warns of adult language. I'd call it uncecessary and crude language.
I am so excited that Liz Gilbert has started a podcast- and what a juicy topic! I look forward to hearing more
An all Inspiring podcast on creativity.
What a captivating look a creativity and the creative process. Can’t wait to listen to more!
