Every two or three months I get a wonderful present from History on Fire. Sometimes he will do a deep dive, like the story of Diogenes. Other times he will do Min episodes like the 20+ hours the plains indigenous people. his a martial artist, and you have to hear what he has to say about Bruce Lee and how learning martial arts helped the women fighting for women’s rights in England. The breadth of his topics is amazing.
Daniele is an excellent history podcaster. He is the best history podcaster on Native American history and he’s a great story teller. Elite on every level. Can’t miss pods on the Taiping, Spanish conquest of Mexico and American conquest of the North American west. I Can’t recommend him enough.
I am very interested in the information but his accent is so thick I can only catch a few words. I even turned to the slowest recording and it is still mumble jumble in the lowest registers. I intend to give him a few more tries because I love history. His version doesn’t seem so left slanted as others
I still stand by this. Bravo. If you don't listen to this podcast than don't listen to any other podcast because that will be a waste of your time. Bravo, Bravo 5 stars Bravo, Bravo!
My favorite episodes are related to the wars in the Black Hills, but all of the episodes are great. Deniele's presentations skills are excellent. I'm glad to see that this podcast is back.
I just found Professor Bolelli’s podcast and it is one of the best and most enjoyable podcasts I’ve had the pleasure of listening to. Professor Bolelli’s cadence and light sense of humor is fresh and informative. Highly recommended.
The host has a very very heavy Italian accent- how can this be rated so high? Fake reviews? I can’t understand half the words this guy speaks & that’s with me focusing really hard lol
Daniele,
Thank you for creating such an great show. It’s a good one to turn to whenever I want to cleanse my pallet from current events and melt into the world of history. I also rest assured that you’ve done your due diligence in researching the subject matter and present the facts as they are.
I always find myself entertained whenever I listen.
Best wishes,
Danielle is fantastic. Historian scholar and storyteller extraordinaire. Don’t let his accent stop you from enjoying his knowledge. Thankfully no longer behind a pay wall. Listelean.
Great info, but his accent/command of the English language is just so bad that i find myself constantly having to rewind to relisten to a passage. It really is so bad that at first I thought it was a comic affectation. I wish the author would take 2 years off and just master English in a dialect that can be clearly understood by a native English speaker then I would give this a 5 star review. I mean no offense, just tyring to offer advice to make this a better podcast.
He doesn’t upload much these days. Lots of reruns and new content is scarce and not long enough for the time between episodes. I’ll miss the good old days.
Each episode is well research and presented. The topics are almost always quite interesting.
Unfortunately, DB seems compelled to insert his leftist ideology- this is unnecessary and diminishes his objectivity.
I could listen to his quaint Italian accent all day if he were talking about anything, but he is always talking about something enthralling and he offers a fun take on each topic and provides some of his own wisdom along the way.
I am so happy to see History on Fire is back! I love the variety of subject matter on this podcast and how it touches on many characters and events I was previously ignorant to. I recommend it to anyone!
I especially like the Roman/Germanic tribes stories. The stories of plains Indians have become a new favorite. Daniel does have a strong Italian accent but it is not hard to understand. He is an engaging story teller that brings you into the world as it was!
Edit- just listened to the Emmett Till episode. Even though I was familiar with the story, it brought me to tears. I maintain this is a five star podcast!
This is a Podcast done with class and I’m
transported through time when I listen.
I appreciate Daniele Bolellis voice and teaching style. Makes me want to learn more.
Thank you!
Subscribed to the podcast a while back but just finally listened to one. Started with “Give me back my legions”. My favorite time period in history. I’ve always loved history told as a story rather than reading a boring book, and Dan is an excellent story teller. Love this podcast and love the accent. Thank you Dan, wish you the best.
A moral subjectivist who never misses a chance to wag his finger at Christian Europeans but glosses over the brutality of peoples like the Plains Indians and Aztecs.
Been following this show since the beginning. Love the detail he gets into with each topic. Hate to unfollow it but now there are anywhere between 10 and 30 minutes of ads per episode. My time is valuable and I don’t have time to scroll through five minutes, pause and see if I missed any actual content, scroll again, and again, and again. So disappointing. The ads are all random lengths so you can’t just skip ahead ten minutes and listen to the actual show. I think he has a paid version on some website where it’s just the content, but for anyone who can’t afford that, there are dozens of similar podcasts with equally great content, and that don’t waste your time. Sorry but I had to unfollow. No longer worth it.
Like History? With Great research? A sense of humor ? Yes to all the above for History on Fire. 100% recommend if you enjoy getting a deep dive into something that I promise you can use to have conversations about the subject later.
Daniele is a true master at his craft and does a fantastic job of making history come alive. Highly recommend this show to learn the lessons from history and use them to improve our present, and future.
Great History podcast, love learning about all the things that were never taught in my history class. Great job Daniele, can’t wait til the next episode 🙌🤌
It could have been an awesome podcast, and it started out really freaking good. But Daniele cares more about money. I was a regular donor until he went to to a paid only platform that just so happened to steal from just about everyone when it started and that platform attempted to blackmail a friend of mine into leaving their network and joining this one. By assiciation, you are alright with network building by theft and ransom and therefore I turn my back on you.
One of the best history shows out there. He has such a great, conversational, tone and is really great at telling stories. Glued to the podcast the entire time.
