Around the Lens

Reviews For Around the Lens

As a nascent photojournalist I find this podcast to be invaluable. It focuses (pardon the pun) on real world topics relevant to photo story tellers and the variety of guests is broad. These are all working professionals so you get a realistic view rather than a detached, academic view of photojournalism. I look forward to each episode which seem to be getting better and better. Thanks to David J Murphy and his co-hosts for doing this and please keep going!
Even though there is light-heart banter about the career of PJ I can feel the pain behind the words spoken by the hosts and the guests in this very real podcast. That is what makes this podcast a must-listen to for anyone interested in Photojournalism or just wanting to hear the stories of the experiences from the point of view of those that stand in the ferocious middle.
As a long time subscriber I have finally thrown up my hands and said, "enough." The constant police bashing and over generalizations regarding law enforcement are not what I want to listen to. As a police officer and photographer I've had enough of the ignorant commentary regarding police officers and their training. UNFOLLOW
Just not for me.
The show is awesome. It's true and down to earth conversations with great people. The topics covered are perfect for the working photographer or aspiring photojournalist. Keep up the great work guys!
Often interesting and personal take on media, photography and journalism. They are and have real photographers and journalists as guests. At times though the hosts are a little too snarky and sarcastically resigned to their seeming doomed status as professional photographers. I do appreciate where they're coming from though and that they talk with and focus on the dilemmas of professional photographers, politics and chaotic media scene.
I really like the show. I listen every week. The only thing is the bad sound quality sometimes I know people are all over the world so it is hard just wished there was a way to fix it. Other then that I really like the show. C&A Walch Photography
I honestly never heard of Around the Lens until I was invited as a panelist. It is a truly unique podcast were you hear the thoughts and opinions of working photographers instead of the tentpoles of the industry. Each episode offers unique insight to a particular topic in the photography community; some are lighthearted others are hot button issues. They are definitely worth a listen if you are looking for something different than the other boring photo podcasts
nice to have a good journalism podcast to listen to
Great interviews and panel discussions! This podcast is very interesting and give you knowledge of gear and how photojournalism works. I enjoy listening to photojournalists from around the country and the world
Interviews with working photojournalists from across the country. If you're just starting as a pj or been in the biz for years you can learn a lot from these conversations.
Interesting to hear viewpoints and expiriences of other photojournalists.
I absolutely love your show. It's inspiring to listen to all the stories and to know how dangerous it can be for some. It's great to learn about all the different facets of this industry. Keep up the great work.
A recent story in the photography world was recently covered on an episode. The hosts and guests didn't seem to be informed at all around the reported facts of the event.
