What Mannix and Rohan have essentially described about the nuggets coverage (or lack there of) was completely dodging an egregiously foolish statement made by Mannix and to deflect attention elsewhere, what was summed up here is what we all knew already which is big market bias. These guys want to watch superstar ball (which you’re getting anyways) they want to see LeBron and the same 4-8 big market teams drooled over endlessly as they already are, you care about storylines, not basketball. It’s sad that people like this have platforms to talk about the league when it seems like they’re more interested in covering a reality TV plot, while there’s thousands of aspiring analysts who genuinely appreciate good basketball and this applies to many more teams than just the nuggets.
Chris doesn't have a lot of star power or good story lines on his show. It's really hard to market such a boring show. More people would probably listen to this if he was more exciting. Nobody wants to listen to this when the bigger podcasts are available. Maybe the show will get more attention once there's compelling story lines to listen to.
Big basketball fan, decades long season ticket holder. The Mannix/ Beck version was the best Bball podcast. They seemed organized, insightful, knowledgeable - all beautifully expressed. They disagreed but respected each other. The current podcast is too long and fulled with rambling. It seems there is no outline to begin with. Just two regular guys poorly giving their random thoughts. Come to the pod with an outline and thought out opinions. Be clear and forceful of those opinions. Let’s pick it up guys.
it is such a bummer they got rid of the open floor feed for this. Rohan and Herring had such a good dynamic and insight about ball.
now I have to deal with a hot take artist yelling and devolving the conversation into local morning drive sports talk radio level analysis.
What are the editors at SI thinking? Open Floor was one of the funniest, most engaging basketball podcasts out there, and SI completely ruined it in the restructuring. Instead of centering Rohan’s witty charm and Herring’s considered insight, the show now reads like “The Mannix Show featuring Rohan and Chris.” Mannix may be a great reporter, but frankly he’s an abrasive and uninspired show host.
I’m not sure what SI was thinking, but I’m not sure I’ll be listening anymore. Sincerely hope they reconsider this choice.
Rohan. Knowledgeable, slightly towards yes. But completely boring with zero podcast personality. Voice cadence is lost on this guy: His “jokes” are annoying, and he isn’t well known enough for true fans of the nba to be interested in. Please do not put us fans through his sarcastic personal opinions as a main topic. Keep it factual. There are opinions and there are professional opinions. Know the difference.
Bring back the real pros. Please.
If this was a G league podcast, Rohan is the man to cure all sleeplessness and energy flow while reporting about “not yet” athletes while we all fall asleep dreaming about the nba podcast we used to love
See this was Howard Beck’s last show. Only Mannix. Unbelievable. You let go the wrong person. No Howard no me. I’ll wait to see where Howard lands and join him there. Bye.
This was always one of my favorite pods to get great content and insights on all things going on in the Association. I am bummed to learn Howard Beck will no longer be employed by SI. A true professional and one of the best. Truly disappointing!!!
Manix is a homer and even when he’s not talking about Boston he’s talking about the Lakers. Please add Timestamps to the episode descriptions so we can skip past these redundant rants.
If you want to hear these two guys say the same things about the Lakers over and over and over every episode, you’ll like this show. It’s insane how much they talk about the Lakers. Lakers Lakers Lakers Lakers. As a break they’ll talk about Boston Boston Boston Boston and maybe Brooklyn for a minute or the Warriors.
There are so many exciting teams in the league that get zero love on this show. And there are even bad, unexciting teams that I would enjoy hearing about.
Did you know that Minn and Cleveland made huge trades this offseason? How are those teams training camps going? Who knows. There are a lot of interesting things going on in Portland…Denver…Clippers…New Orleans…Memphis. I’d love to hear about how the young up and coming teams are doing in San Antonio, OKC, Houston, Detroit…. Maybe something about top teams like Milwaukee.
I think these guys just love the drama more than they love the sport.
The fact that Howard Beck compared all of Bill Russell’s amazing civil rights work to Colin Kaepernick’s buffoonery and thirst for media attention shows he is not a serious journalist. He just wants to pander to his audience. Beck insulted all great civil rights leaders when he compared Kaepernick to Russell. Beck needs to get off this show or just shut up. One star because of Howard Beck. Keep your social justice crap out of it.
Beck routinely makes arguments that contradict themselves within a single sentence. Get Mannix a new partner, although he is a clear cut Boston homer, he is professional and Knowledgeable. Beck has been an irrelevant clown living off an NYT rep that was undeserved a decade ago let alone now.
Audiences listen to the same podcasts you do.
Even if your take was terrible, it would be better than a regurgitated one. This is pretty basic stuff in any J-school.
I find it interesting you didn’t discuss Jonathan Issac’s explanation for not getting the vaccine since he already had COVId. Israel study demonstrated value of natural immunity. England recommends only one dose in young males due to risk of myocarditis. The risk of COVID is extremely low for young healthy individuals. The risk of vaccine adverse reaction is extremely low. However I read all the time how careful athletes are with what they ingest. Thus it becomes a individual risk assessment in an athlete whose number one value is their body. Some of the other athletes not taking the vaccine were incoherent but Issac was thorough.
And the vaccine is to protect you and not others. Breakthrough cases exist and the vaccine lowers the complication risk but we do not vaccinate to protect others. We vaccinate to protect ourselves.

Like Howard and Mannix, but had to stop listening when they bring Rohan on with his terrible takes and opinions. Put him another podcast so he doesn’t ruin this one.
Been a fan of Howard for a while now, have been enjoying his Friday guests. Would be great if they could get more basketball writers/podcasters to chat on either episode though.
About 100 super pro Beck reviews just spammed on the same day.. pathetic. This was a great podcast before Beck, now it's trash. Listen to Chris's boxing pod, it's amazing. I hope the Beck review bots don't convince SI they got gold on their hands, cause this guy's gotta go. Sadly just unsubscribed. Bye bye Beck.
What up?! I followed Beck over from The Full 48 and have found The Crossover to be an awesome new pod in my playlist. Love the combo of analysis with Mannix and the great interviews we were used to on The Full 48. Thanks for keeping at it for us NBA nerds!
I’ve been following @HowardBeck ever since I first heard him as a guest on Lowe’s pod. Immediately started following and listening to The Full 48. I am so glad to have his wonderful NBA insight back in my podcasting.
The crossover pod is full of great NBA content, smart thoughts on all types of NBA stuff, on court, free agency, trades, etc… I only wish it was a 5 day a week show!
This show never ceases to impress! Tuesdays with Howard and Mannix I always find myself learning something new, and then Fridays the interviews Beck does are phenomenal! Would recommend to anyone who likes basketball or not to check this out
This is definitely one of my favorite podcasts to listen to. I think Chris and Beck have a great chemistry and really enjoy their conversations. I also love the Friday pods with just Beck. It’s great to have him and his awesome commentary back after the Full 48 ended since that was one of my favorites. There’s nothing better than hearing a what up, Beck!
I was already subscribed to the crossover with Mannix and also to the Full 48 with Beck when they ended up joining forces. The result is an even better podcast with them combined!
As a longtime listener of the Full 48 podcast, I couldn't be happier to have Howard Beck back in my (podcast) life. Beck is an absolute joy to listen to, whether you're a basketball nerd that loves the numbers or a more casual fan that wants to keep up with on and off the court drama. Packed with information and perspectives from engaging guests of differing backgrounds and interests, Beck brings the best out of everyone he brings on the pod. It's niche basketball podcasting at its best. Welcome back, and Whatup Beck!
