Bands Under the Radar

Reviews For Bands Under the Radar

I used to love this podcast, but now that it updates only every four to six months, it's hardly worth keeping on my list. I'd rather have six songs every two weeks than 20 every six months.

I am blown away at your Under The Radar Podcast - I didn't think this kind of thing existed until I started searching and I found it! Gold at the end of the rainbow!!!! My mind wanted to hear cover bands doing different generas and here it is... BRILLIANT!!! 5 STARS!
Ive been on your site and i see at least one new one up there, when are you going to put it on your podcast? I really love your taste in music and its been quite awhile since you put any new ones out there. Come on Kami don't keep me waiting! Keep up the great work!
Your podcast has introduced me to so many awesome bands that I otherwise would have never known about. Thank you for expanding my musical horizons. I now listen with a pen and a notepad handy so I can write down my new favorites. A big bucket of love for you. :)
lovin selections, keeps me sane at work When you gonna flower? new fav. Thx.
-tygy96 You know how I know your gay, u listen to coldplay
i didnt think that a single playlist could tap into my sould, but it did. everything i thought i liked about music was epically changed and i swear i had a music renaissance. if the beatles could tell me what to listen to, im pretty sure they would be embarassed to know that kami knows better bands. thank you so much for passing the gift of music to my ears! i swear its like every playlist was meant to be for me!
Great podcast! Kami finds great music for those of us who find ourselves cringing in pain every five seconds while listeing to the top ten list on iTunes. Way to stay true to good music Kami!!
Best Podcast Ever!!! I LOVE it! the music... everything!
She lights my fire! Dispite the country music! But she always knows what will move, rock, and groove us! ~Kit~
After years of telling people if you like your own music, get an Ipod, and if you like to listen to new music, get a satellite radio. I'm ready to stick my foot into my mouth. My wife had bought me an Ipod for X-mas and I had got tired of trying to come up with music to purchase for it. So, I decided to look into podcasts. BUTR was the first one I had came across that intrigued me from the description, so I downloaded and loaded it. I listened to it and automatically came back for a second, then a third, then....I think you get the point. I LOVE the eclectic genres of music Kami chooses. She keeps her on-air stints relatively short and informative while sometimes playing two songs from an artist so you get a decent feel for them. The only bad thing is, if you consider it bad, I wish the podcasts came more regularly. Awesome job! Thank you for making my first dip into podcasts a memorable one. I'll be passing the word around if I can get them past my foot that's stuck in my mouth.
I was searching for a podcast of exactly what the title suggests...bands either not there yet and making good music or forgotten bands still cranking it out. Genre did not matter but I have to admit that I was looking alternative. Kami's mix while not exactly as promised is very good and very listenable. The songs quite often are UTR while the bands may not be. Thats OK with me. There is a reasonable mix of genre and has a reasonable hit of alternative (albiet soft). It's a long podcast but worth the time. Perfect for commuting or background music. She's not very timely but it's always a pleasant surprise when a new podcast comes out. Thanks Kami!
This podcast is great for a number of reasons. 1. The DJ loves music and it shows. 2. She plays a wide variety of music. Often a podcast has a theme which ties it together. For example, one podcast was all about cover songs. 3. The podcasts are really long. I like to listen to podcasts while I'm driving to work and I can't be messing with my ipod. Sometimes I can even listen to the same podcast going to and from work. If you like new music this podcast if for you.
Is coldplay really an unsigned/indie band in november of 2008 after releasing an album that reached #1 in 17 different countries around the world??? Selections such as these made me disregard this podcast as it does not bring "Bands under the radar" or even songs under the radar into its selections. The reason i am giving it two stars is because I do enjoy most of the music, but ive heard it all before, many of these songs I even hear on "Top 40" stations! So They should rename the podcast "Top 40 songs and some well known others you might like". Maybe the author should try to get a job picking music played on top 40 stations themselves...
This podcast is the best one out there for music lovers looking for indie music that is new and incredibly interesting. I'm never disappointed.
Not sure what has happened to this podcast. This used to be a good indie music podcast, but now it seems to be almost exclusively country music. Yuck!
This podcast provides a great look and new and old bands you may never heard of. It takes a big effort to stay in touch with new music these days. This podcast shortens the research time in finding new music to download. Wish it was done more than every few months.

Kami your the best! You have a great platform going on here. I've been a fan for about a year. I have one criticism, please put more than one podcast in a 3 month time period! Love yah Chris Virginia Beach
While shes had a few good hits like Paolo Nutini and Duffy, she played Kings of Leon on her last episode. How are they a band under the radar? Also if shes serious about podcasting, she should actually take the time and make a regular show so there isnt this insane gap between shows, focus on her editing so there are no more large gaps in between the music, and spice it up a bit. Fix the sound quality somehow. Play something in the background between songs.
i absolutely love this podcast but in #30 i was disappointed to hear kami say that the MGMT tune was weekend wars even though it really was kids this was also an error in the info. part
That about says it all. Nice variety of new and fairly new artists. Found myself spending some $$ downloading songs after hearing this podcast.
Totally Rock!! When i first loaded number 28, i am thinking - - no i do not like this but then after listenting to it once.. I was listening to it every day!! Over and Over Again!! Podcast # 29 is almost just as good but i would have liked to hear more fast paced music. I didnt mind Kami rambling on and on because she has a nice calm relaxing voice. My fav thing was eddie vedder and the new soul song!! I would recomend to everyone to download this TODAY!

When is the next one coming?
great selection of music! not a lot of talking, and when she does, it's usaly information on the group she's playing or a bit about the podcast. the podcasts do take awhile to download, but it's worth it! I highly reccomend subscribing!
I love BUTR, and all of the wonderful bands that get discovered thanks to it. But most importantly, Kami just makes the podcast complete!! I think her rambles are wonderful-- she brings a smile to my face every time I listen. LOVE IT!
Thou hast moved me....I have been living in fear of becoming musically obsolete because I am a slave to commercial radio. This Podcast has shone a light into the darkness that is my daily music routine. THANK YOU!
I have purchased so much new music that I would never have heard otherwise if not for BUTR! This is a solid podcast and Kami is a wonderful host! Her knowledge of the bands/ music and "witty" commentary are almost as enjoyable as the tunes. KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK! My only complaint? I wish the episodes weren't so spread out but they are always worth the wait. Thanks BUTR!
This is my first subscription to a podcast and its pretty nifty. The soundtracks are pretty good too.
Although it is sometimes difficult to hear Kami between songs, she puts on a very good podcast and I love her music selections. She has introduced me to many new artists and it is always fun to hear them be played on the radio later. I just wish she came out with episodes more often! I can't get enough.
This is a great podcast. Number 24 is particularly awesome.
This is the collest thing on the net. They play all the sweetest new stuff from every ware. Realy glad they got the Fratellis on there as well as Franz Ferdanand. Kami, ur alsom and you know whats good.
So this chick can pick out some rockin’ music, but sorry honey- you just weren’t cut out for the DJ position. Her voice sounds like the aftermath of a long sorority party gone awry. Not only that, but she decides it’s a good idea to actually sing at some points- what is that all about? We don’t want to hear you- just the music. So for the sake of all the listeners, just tell us who the bands are. And no one is going to think you are cool by constantly talking about the shows you have been to, I’m sorry- nobody cares. Fortunately, this is still a mix worth listening all the way though, despite the raspy interjections. I just wish there was a ‘next’ button to skip over her talking.
Kami knows her stuff and gets you all up to date with the hottest new bands and music from around the world. If you like any of the bands she lists in her description you are bound to like a lot of the new music she picks for her podcast.
If you're ever having a bad day, or weeping over the current state of "pop" music listen to this. You're guarenteed to fall in love and obsess over at least one band each podcast. Plus hey, IT'S FREE! So if you're poor like me, go college, this is the perfect way to find amazing music and not have to sell a kidney to own it.
Thank you so much for introducing me to "The Sounds" they are awesome
This podcast has turned me on to some awsome bands like the Pinder Brothers, the Fratellis, The Hussys,et. all. This is awsome, serious love!
This Podcast was hot stuff.Loved Viking Moses ending the set.A fabulous selection of music that can be enjoyed by all.
This was a great podcast with great music I hadn't heard before. This really is a must hear. The hostess overused the word channeling a bit when making vocalist/band comparisons, but failed to warn that the second to last song was channeling wheatus. The podcast was 90 minutes of great music disrupted by a screeching so aweful I tore my earbuds out. Still, get this podcast!
i've finally been able to sit down and listen to all of these all the way through (yes, i have!).. so glad i did. eye-opening new rock. kami knows what she's doing. follow her lead.
not very good :(
This podcast has introduced me to PLENTY of new artists and I'm eternally grateful. Kami has a gift for enjoying and sharing her passion for new music, and for revisiting "old" talent that is still innovative and refreshing. The introduction to Blackbud alone ... priceless!
I really enjoy all the songs that you play and I think these under the radar bands should get the publicity they deserve :)

Glad you're back, I missed my BUTR! The show Is excellent. Thanks for hangin' in there.

Great track selection, mostly from bands i've never heard of or less mainstream bands that really dont get as much recognition as they should. On every podcast ive heard so far which has been the last 5 or 6, i have found at least 4 tracks that really moved me in some way or opened up a new door of inspiration. if you have the time to really listen to some great newer music, this is the place to come.
This podcast is one of the best music casts out there. She can sometimes ramble on but who doesn't...The bands she plays are wonderful and moving. I have discovered so many bands that I love and have turned other onto b/c of this podcast. This is a must to listen...once a month just isn't enough.
i havent even listened but from the about section, i know this is crap because bands under the radar. how can nirvana and ac/dc possibly fit in that category? and coldplay? come on, they're the most overplayed and overrated band ever.!
One of the first podcasts i've ever listened to and continues to be one of my favorite. Great music! Kami is awsome!
A lot of effort goes into this cast.

I loved this podcast! I may not have liked all the songs but I did like a bunch!!! The reason I love this is the pure variety, good songs, and new talent that has (probably) never been heard before! My only complaint is that Kami sometimes rambles... But overall WONDERFUL!!!
