What a great podcast. It has Christopher Walken, movies, two guys, two microphones, opinions, information, quotes, nouns, verbs, breathing, and more. What else could you possibly ask for? :)
I've been a fan of Brandon Hardesty since discovering his YouTube channel 10 years ago, and as soon as I found out he had a podcast I was on board. And Kenny's great, too! Sometimes he gets a bit too negative for my tastes, but when he's in a good mood or taking a bad movie in stride instead of just complaining about it, he's fun to listen to. Some of these movies are stinkers or worse, boring as hell, and I don't envy them in their task. But when they're both able to come out the other side with something to say, whether it be praise or damnation, it's always fun.
I'd imagine that people fascinated by Walken 101 will probably be the ones to stumble upon these reviews, and the conceit of the show will be enough for you to give it a try. But I'd recommend checking out some of Brandon Hardesty's YouTube videos as well as his No Small Parts Productions page to get an idea of whether you'd like this podcast or not. As a fan of Brandon, and now Kenny, they could talk about pretty much whatever and I'd be on board.
That being said, it's been pretty fascinating coming along with them to learn about Walken. This podcast will definitely make you feel like a bit of a Walken expert by proxy. The other day I busted out an impromptu Walken impersonation for some reason that I can't even remember now. My Walken impression used to be absolutely terrible but, wouldn't you know it, I'd say this one was downright passable! And that's just from listening to every episode of this podcast and soaking up enough of Brandon's impeccible Walken sensibilities.
Personal favorite moments include Brandon's deadpan declaration that, had he not been watching that week's particular Walken movie, he would have just "played Xbox for about 3 hours" (Ep. 13, 35:30) And in a more recent episode, he goes on a rant about one of Walken's movies being so boring that "It's disrespectful" (Ep. 33, 33:20) Brutally honest assessments like that will keep me listening until we reach Nine Lives and beyond.
