This is a wonderfully critical, skeptical, and thoughtful show about actually stopping to think for a moment about the “scientists baffled” and “this crazy photo that no one can identify” and other pseudoscience, crypto nonsense, and general clickbait.
A good, calm, reasoned take on the latest “weird” news.
I have listend to most of the episodes that are avalaible at time of writing, and could not enjoy the skeptical and science more. However the constant reintroduction of polititcs by the lead presenter gets tiring. I tend to agree with her, but this is not the podcast for a political forum. The thing that caused me to review this as three stars is that she expressed opinions about the media, while in the process of going against those opponions. I heartily dislike listening to someone cririsize others for actions that are still being done.
Sharon Hill’s podcast is a nice, skeptically centered show. The casts are a good length, she sometimes has very good guests join her, and the information is made relatable. I’d give it a higher rating if it didn’t frequently give the impression of being for those already in the know. Too often it seems like it was aimed at those who are in Ms. Hill’s circle of acquaintances and peers and not at the general skeptic audience. There are plenty of us skeptics who aren’t part of a notable group and who just want to keep up to speed with the current issues for skeptics.
The only other minor quibble is the pace of the show is kind of slow. Still, it’s definitely worth a listen and moreover, I’m thrilled that we have a female skeptic leading the charge in this area. Ms. Hill is smart, witty, professional, and just enjoyable to listen to. Give her your time and you’ll be rewarded with good information.
Since finding this podcast, I have heard every episode and have enjoyed almost all of the topics discussed. This is a welcome addition to the list of available skeptical podcasts! Well done Sharon and crew!
Great to find another critical thinking podcast. This show takes a conversational format, with several topical subjects covered in each episode. Well worth a listen.
I really enjoy this show. Currently the format is the crew discussing news stories and how to evaluate the ideas in those stories using logic, evidence and critical thinking skills. It's early into the show as I write this but I have really enjoyed the topics and the commentary.
I just discovered this one! I enjoy listening to the hosts discuss various topics from a skeptical viewpoint. The topics are all interesting and not always ones I've heard of before. A nice new addition to the skeptical community.
