Reviews For On The Ledge

Jane is insightful in her plant wisdom and her plant care perspective. Her guests are interesting, have cool backstories, and are fabulous interviews. Whether you’re new to plants or have been planted for years, you’ll find helpful tips and solid information on how to best care for your plants.
I’ve grown houseplants for a long time but I’ve learned a lot from this podcast. Jane is both insightful and amusing, and her interviews are always interesting.
Delightful and Educational.
Thank you for such a funny, interesting, and informative podcast! When I need a place to escape stress and just be around my plant people, this is what I listen to! If plants are your thing, this is a MUST listen!
Cheery, helpful, and relevant. My favorite plant pod I’ve found so far 🌱. Looking forward to getting the book the Jane will be releasing soon!
Great for beginners, advanced plant people, a laugh… not so great for budget. Jane’s enthusiasm and passion is contagious. And before you know it your house will look like a Rainforest Cafe.
Jane is the OG of plant podcasts! I always learn something from every episode.
A long overdue review on my part. Host Jane Perrone is absolutely charming. No matter if you entertaining your first foray into plant keeping or plant academic, On the Ledge has something for everyone. I greatly appreciate the focus on sustainability in tandem with levity in contrast some trend driven, aggressively consumptive newer plant podcast. A range of experts and hobbyist join Jane on a weekly basis and manages always to feel fresh. As a bonus there is a dedicated Facebook group to support your growing journey and Jane is always responsive to the listeners.
I began listening to this podcast at the start of the pandemic and have learned SO much. Accessible to all levels of expertise, On The Ledge should be a must listen for all plant parents! I cannot wait for the release of Jane’s upcoming book, Legends of the Leaf.
Just found this podcasts a few weeks ago and can’t stop listening. Anyone with even a slight interest in plants will love the information and entertainment of the show. Highly recommend!
Every episode is both packed full of information and enjoyable to listen to. This podcast is helping me be a better plant parent. Even episodes I anticipate to be less relevant to my collection contain useful tidbits. Please keep up the good work!
The earlier episodes were good, informative and about house plants. Now it is all about the ads and self promotion. P
Too much whining during intro. A bit on the self righteous side at times and nauseating. Seriously? Ethical purchase? Home plant enthusiasts are saving many species from extinction by propagating and selling seeds and or rare plants. Lord forbid we step on the toes of an Ivy League botanist by disagreeing about the Red-list.
I’m still new to combing through these episodes and enjoying the many aspects of plant care covered by this producer so far. My climate in 10b sometimes contrasts that in the UK, but there is so much content and variety that is very helpful and enjoyable for everyone. Highly recommended to give one a listen while caring for your plants.
I love listening to On The Ledge when i’m tending to my plant babies, when i’m driving to work, or unwinding after a long day. Jane’s voice is so calming and she’s so informational! I just found OTL a few weeks ago and I’m already obsessed. I’ve learned so much already and I appreciate the plant professionals she includes for more advice, tips, and knowledge.
I feel as if I’ve conjured this podcast from dust. But that’s giving myself way too much credit. I’ve sorely needed a podcast that would really be like a blanket of wholesomeness but also something full of helpful information about gardening and, especially, houseplants. I was so happy to have found Jane and On the Ledge. This podcast is inspired - and it’s a balm to my soul. It is equal parts entertaining and educational - but it is also just plain excellent. I enjoy Jane’s voice and her way of making houseplant-ology accessible and fun. I’ve learned a lot and of course added lots of houseplants to my collection (as I side-eye my new Lithops that seem like they are still deciding whether they are going to live or die). This podcast is nothing but good vibes in audio form.
New to the houseplant life or an old pro, you’ll learn practical tips and fascinating facts about the plants we all love so dearly. Bonus: Jane’s dulcet tones are a welcome balm in these stressful times. Give On The Ledge a listen and subscribe! 🪴
Got a question about anything “indoor gardening?” Jane’s got you covered. 😎 Whether you’ve already got 100 indoor plants to your name, or you’re just starting your collection, this is a must-listen podcast for you! Jane does an incredible job leading engaging conversations and every. single. episode. is jam-packed with helpful takeaways. Highly recommend listening and subscribing!
I’m a new listener to On the Ledge, and it’s improved my entire quality of life! Jane is hilarious, informative, reassuring, and leaves me feeling so positive after every episode. Thank you, Jane! I’m learning so much about houseplants!
As an Eldergrow educator I’ve been hooked on this podcast. I love Jane’s mannerisms, intellect, and conversational flow. She is a gem! I feel transported to the UK every time I listen.
I’m cracking up at the moment- in episode 153 about growing food at home- Jane points out that tomatoes seem to be the food plant people like to start with, even though they’re not the easiest to grow. I gotta say this hit home for me- since I started my garden years ago with tomatoes, and I don’t even like them!
I love listening to this podcast! It has given me the confidence to try new plants and brought back some plants from the brink of death! If you have 1 or a hundred plants you will find this beneficial. Thanks so much Jane!
Jane, you’ve kept me sane. My respite in toddler parenting is my time spent on my work commutes listening to On the Ledge, and fiddling with my ever-growing plant collection. The breadth of knowledge you and the carefully curated guests you bring on is perfect for those new to the hobby and those looking to expand their horizons. I sincerely hope you are enjoying writing your book, wishing you a happy summer and a successful finale to this year’s sow along. All the best, Morgan
On the Ledge has such a good breadth and depth of information. Jane Perrone is knowledgeable, has a good sense of humor, is a good interviewer and always gives credit where credit is due. Highly recommended whether you are a beginner with houseplants or an experienced plant parent!
I’m so glad I found On the Ledge! Most online resources for plant care all regurgitate questionable information from each other in a frustrating circle, but Jane actually DIGS deeper and talks to experts from different plant-related fields. Her podcast is informative and evidence-based, with each episode focusing on a new creative topic, from psychological benefits of plant ownership to plant poaching to potting mix ingredients. Thank you for working so hard to bring us this show, Jane!
I really enjoy listening to this pod and find the plant content to be really engaging. There is good content for beginners and plant exerts alike. Her approach is scientific but sensible. A good mix of botany and horticulture!
Jane is very knowledgeable and likable. I look forward to her podcast and her upcoming book -Legends of the Leaf - woohoo!
10/10. I love this podcast! I’m a delivery driver, so I’m in my car ALL day. I was looking for a houseplant podcast so I didn’t have to listen to the same songs on the radio over and over anymore. Wow, was I thrilled to find Jane and her knowledge. I love her passion for houseplants. Listening to her makes the day go by so quickly. I learn something new about houseplants every single episode. And I will continue to listen until the day she stops making this podcast. Thank you, Jane, for sharing your passion and knowledge with the world. 💕
This podcast is excellent. I found it during lockdown and have been attempting to catch up, while listening to each new episode as it comes out. It’s been an absolute delight. Jane’s perspectives, advice, and demeanor make this the perfect podcast. She discusses a wide range of super helpful topics, and brings on so many experts and guests to discuss and educate. If you’re looking for a plant podcast, this is it and it’s the gold standard!
One of my all time favorite plant podcasts. Jane’s voice is so relaxing, and she’s an incredible interviewer. I’ve learned so much, and always keep coming back. Thank you for making this!!💕💕
I love this podcast! Jane has such a great approach to houseplants- realistic actionable advice, easy to understand, no guilt for previous houseplant failures. Always interesting guests. Some products are not available in the US, but she tries to give alternatives.
Just started listening last week and so thankful for all the information provided in a delightful manner. Thank you Jane.
I am absolutely DELIGHTED with On The Ledge and Jane! I reside in rural Minnesota and tried my hand at house plants about 20 years ago. Sadly, I gave it up, despite loving house plants- I thought it was not for me. Twenty years later, I decided to try again. This time, I bought books, searched the web, and browsed podcasts. And then, I discovered On The Ledge! I listen every day and am trying to get through all of them, paying special attention to the episodes that feature the plants I own. I have a lot to learn, and Ms. Perrone is helping me greatly! Finally, as a Minnesotan who happens to be an Anglophile- I can’t get enough of Ms. Perrone’s beautiful voice and accent! I now find myself saying “plahnt” instead of my native, rather boring “plant”! I LOVE THIS SHOW! THANK YOU!
What a light in a stressful year! On the Ledge, like our houseplants, has become an important boost to our mental health as we all work to lift each other and push forward. Jane, and the guests she interviews, are such a joy.! I feel like I’m sitting around and listening to my houseplant friends debate questions and suggest solutions.
Jane’s voice and podcast is simply a delight to listen to! Both knowledgeable, charming, and real/honest about life it is a breath of fresh air and always leaves me feeling relaxed. I have learned much while enjoying the content which is delivered in a down to earth way. Thank you Jane for sharing your passion with fellow plant people!
I’ve listened to almost all of your episodes; some of them twice. When I have a question about my Calathea, or a problem with my peperomioides, I always find my answers On the Ledge. If Jane’s, charm, laughter and wonder for plants, or the fantastic array of guests, or if the sponge-full of plant you’re about to imbibe, doesn’t grab your attention. Maybe you should find a different tribe. Strap yourself in and prepare to have your glabrous hairs blown back. Taylor aka ucdplantdoc
I’ve been listening to Jane for a while now, and the more I listen, the more I love her. You know you’re in love when you can listen to her sow seeds and you enjoy it! Jane is full of wisdom and wit, and this podcast is an integral part of my mental health regime. Highly recommend!! 🌿💚🌿
This is the perfect, joyful, easy listen we all need these days. Whether you are into plants or not, although I don’t know how you could listen to an episode and not get into plants as a result, Jane is funny, a great interviewer, and completely knowledgeable. You can tell that she has a passion for this stuff, and it’s contagious. Love it!
My wife and I look forward to Jane’s podcast every Friday - we both love it, even tho my wife is a reluctant plant co-parent. I always learn something new and laughed out loud when Jane started last weeks episode quoting Tayce from Drage Race UK! A great podcast for anyone even remotely interested in plants and horticulture.
I never knew that the sound of pouring a cup of tea was the anti-anxiety medicine I needed-that is, until I found OTL. Listening to Jane pour herself “a cupper” at the beginning of every episode puts my mind into a relaxed state, and I feel myself curling up ready for a plant chat with the most charming and knowledgeable plant aunt who welcomes you into her home to learn about and enjoy plants together. The occasional visit by her dog truly makes this podcast an immersive experience into every plant parent’s fantasy of a lovely afternoon in the green house. The only problem I have is accidentally taking on Jane’s British accent at work, as I listen on my commute every day.
I love the balance Jane strikes between being a fun listen and giving very sane and sensible advice and information about houseplants. She clearly loves plants, knows a lot about them and also knows that we care about other things as well, like the environment, our bank accounts, the people we know and love, so she provides a way into plants that’s not monomaniacal, that fits into an ordinary life. Sometimes she gives advice on how to care for specific plants, or how to perform specific planty tasks. Sometimes she interviews interesting plant people or focuses on an issue like the destructive poaching of wild plants. It all adds up to a varied and interesting podcast that doesn’t suggest we should all be obedient consumers, but rather active participants in the plant world. I honestly think there’s something here for everyone!
This podcast is as relaxing and therapeutic as watching the Great British Bake-off. Jane is delightful as the host — I particularly enjoy her humor and self-deprecating little chuckles. I am a newish fan of all things houseplants and have been amassing a collection of around 40 plants. I’ve only recently discovered this podcast but it has been a great way to learn and ponder topics around houseplants while I go for walks or hikes. I’m quickly going through all the back episodes and hope Jane will keep making more. In the meantime, I will do my best to support the show (heading to Patreon to make a pledge next).
This is an excellent planty podcast. I've been a loyal listener since the early episodes, and it's only gotten better. Jane is an utter delight to listen to and learn with, whether you're new to plants or a veteran horticulturalist. I particularly enjoy listening to new episodes whilst tending my own houseplants and drinking an alcoholic beverage. 👌 If plants interest you or anyone you love, this is your next podcast to binge. Highly recommend.
This has been such a fantastic podcast. You will learn about particular varieties, care, quirks and diseases of plants. I have learned SO MUCH, and really enjoyed being made aware of nonrenewable resources such as peat. I had been a plant lover when I was younger, but with a traveling job and schooling, had to give up my plants. Now that we are stable, diving back in with full abandon. You and your guests have been so helpful. Thanks so much again.
Just started listening and love this! I have been a plant mom for a while now. Just what I needed and learning a lot!
I began listening to this podcast in spring 2020 around the same time I began accumulating many plants. I initially listened to episodes for specific plant types not thinking that a plant podcast would be all that interesting. I mean, you can’t even see the plants! Here I am, listening to every episode and LOVING it. My Christmas list now includes a Patreon subscription to On the Ledge. Thank you, Jane!
Yes please! Truly informative, well thought out episodes that answer all of my houseplant questions, splashed with a bit of English humor. Jane is a delight! Her podcast is well suited for newbies and seasoned plant enthusiasts alike!
I’m new to gardening and even newer to houseplants. This podcast is fantastic! It has great beginner tips but also more scientific information. The interviews are always interesting and the questions are helpful. Now I just have to resist going out and buying all the plants she talks about!
I keep hearing so much misinformation here, please don’t take her at her word! This is a cute podcast, but not very substantial. If you’re looking for solid plant advice, head to YouTube to do your own research from multiple sources.
