I enjoyed Tate much more when he and Titus were doing this show and T’d Up and more so when he was Simmons’ lackey. Now, he is trying to pretend like he is hosting a national college hoops show, but there is WAY too much UNC and UK talk than those programs deserve. And if you’re a fan of the schools he clearly hates (Duke, Arizona, etc), forget about getting an objective take on your team.
Thanks Tate and Kyle for putting this together and bringing it twice every week.
As a lifelong college basketball fan I really appreciate what you do.
Keep up the great work
As a long time listener, I think that while this is a solid podcast, very little of the magic exists that used to exist with his former co-host (and to be clear, I think the exact same of his former co-host’s current show). J. Kyle Mann is enjoyable so he isn’t the problem. Maybe once the season starts the show will take off but this isn’t “can’t miss” programming like he used to be a part of.
I don’t mind you guys going off topic as breaks but focus more on the basketball please. I really didn’t come here to listen about other things. I get it for breaks ir transitions but you guysget sidetracked too many times.
Started listening once the pod was re-introduced earlier in the year. Love Tate, love producer Kyle and I love their chemistry!! But every episode that JKM is on feels like an instant chore to get through. JKM doesn’t present anything creative or of substance when discussions are being had and his “co-host” role feels very forced.
Tate once again proves he’s woefully unqualified to have a podcast about college basketball outside of his school. If you are going to cover something on your podcast, like the Hunter Dickinson quote about Michigan, maybe actually do your job and listen to the interview, rather than perpetuate a snappy headline. The quote was taken out of context to enflame Michigan fans. What Hunter actually said was that Michigan people are nice, but that Ann Arbor has a more east coast feel because it’s a bigger, more metropolitan city than Lawrence, Kansas.
Also, calling Kansas an ally of the South? This is a blatant admission that you have never once researched the border war. Kansas and Missouri literally burned things down and people died in the civil war, because Missouri was a slave state and Kansas was a free state. It’s literally the basis for the entire rivalry. Just because Bill gives you a podcast doesn’t mean you get to say whatever you want. Your job is to do even just the bare minimum amount of research before you turn on the microphone, and you can’t manage to do that. Do better.
I listen to at least 30 hours of podcasts a week so it has to keep my attention. This one does. I started it because it’s from TRU (the ringer universe) but I stayed because it’s really good. A little more Arkansas content would be great. 😊 Also I was at the “time out heard round the world game” so I love the intro…
Your perspective on college basketball literally created an entirely new dimension through which to consume an entire sport. Then you took that lens, and the thousands who collectively loved that perspective, shot it, then kicked it in the teeth, all so that you could disappear into the anonymity of NBA media personalities. I don’t know, and more than that, don’t care whose fault it was. Just fix it.
tate and kyle are great but it’s just not the same. can’t do it. eye on CBB is my home now. someone please let me know if titus ever #comeshome to the ringer or if tate joins barstool. forever a friend of the program
Better than what Titus is putting out but still nowhere near the quality that it once was. Sad that we could see the split coming for some time since Titus was openly flirting with barstool. I’ve listened to PMT from the beginning and it was always obvious that Mark was always trying to impress big cat.
I listened for over a month and now I’m out. He can’t control his guests who talk over him and his attempts at humor often fall flat. His bit about Doc Rivers “playing with his meat” was par for the course. He never rises above middle school humor and he thinks things are funnier if you say them loud. I wish he and Titus would have stayed together but if I have to choose I choose Titus. I should have known better. I tried to listen to Pushin’ Thru and bailed on that too. He just works best as someone supporting the main host.
First things first. This and The Mark Titus show are #1 and #2 for CBB podcasts. I don’t usually have time for both though, so I end up going to this first. Why? 1. Length. They keep it under 90 minutes and are sticking closer to the old OSP format than Titus (though Titus seems to be fixing this lately sticking to one guest per show). 2. J Kyle Mann is a better guest who has a better rapport with Tate than anyone Titus has brought on yet (again Titus has been closing the gap with Jake Marsh lately though). I’m surprised I’m going with OSP since I’m the same age as Titus, have enjoyed his stuff since the Club Trillion era, and generally felt he was a little better on the mic than Tate, but here we are.
I loved LOVED Titus & Tate together for years and was as sad as you can possibly be about two podcast hosts going their separate ways. But so far, the new OSP has been better than Titus on Barstool. Tate does not have the natural banter with guests yet that he did with Titus, but he is doing a great job carrying the show. Shoutout to Jim too, I miss him also and hope he pops back up at the Ringer!!
This is the best college basketball podcast by a long shot. Love how quick they’ve been at getting tournament recaps up day-by-day. Tate has a great mix of knowledge and rumor, and Kyle Mann is a great recurring guest. While I miss Tate and Mark together, this is definitely the better option over Barstool.
J Kyle Mann and the other guests trying to constantly cram the NBA into a college basketball show is annoying. Every analogy and every event has to be related to the NBA despite the NBA being an insufferably bad product.
I was hoping for YEARS that a version of the podcast with JUST Tate and Producer Kyle came to fruition!! It’s much better; and, the humor is less frat boy and more sarcastic or silly (both huge improvements). I can’t wait to re-follow this podcast!
Glad the Ringer has a podcast to focus on college hoops, could go without the 45 minutes discussing an unranked UNC team when there’s a lot of other teams to discuss heading into March Madness
Really trying to get into the new version of OSP but man…first episode is with Bill Simmons which means mostly NBA talk. Second episode is all about UNC-Duke. At the end Tate says he’s don’t talking about UNC. Then immediately the next episode is all about UNC again. Tate, please! They’re irrelevant!! They’re gonna be in the NIT. Talk about literally anyone else!
T’d up, and the different iterations, OSP, Titus and Tate, are my favorite podcast of all time. It’s sad to see that you are on different platforms now, because the show that you both put together was perfect. This most recent season was the best yet with Tate doing the good guy bag guy, and Titus doing the fraud power rankings. Plus that little bit of Jim was entertaining. When I first started listening a million years ago, I barely cared about college ball but you two talking about it made me care. It’s sad that I won’t be able to see the duffel bag boys together again. I know there is a difference in culture between the ringer and barstool, but that difference is bunk and quite frankly nonsense, if we can get a crossover episode of the mark titus show and OSP for the tournament that would make all us real fans happy. Nobody can talk college roundball better than Tate Frazier and Mark Titus can together. Please make the crossover happen at least for this year to give us fans the closure we deserve after following you guys from platform to platform for years
I’ve been listening to ringer podcast since day one. So happy the Tate is back to the ringer. Can’t wait for the great content they put out. Always authentic and has a great perspective on the game. Definitely would recommend this podcast.
The OG Bagman Tate Frazier returns with Nephew Kyle producing! Tate is Ringer employee number one and is coming back home to bring you much needed college hoops coverage. From bag dropping, to fbi cases, Jeff Simpson news, and Kyle’s guy of the week you will not want to miss the action! Come on down and have a listen, you’ll be glad you did!
This was a great cast with Titus - about college basketball and so much more! Duffle bag boys rule. Looking forward to seeing Tate hopefully with Kyle.
