The Puddcast

Reviews For The Puddcast

I came across this podcast during a wilderness season where I felt like an outcast in the church. I was having a crisis of my faith as I found it hard to interact with the God of my bible with the people in his church. When I listened to this podcast it felt like home. I realised I wasn’t mad or abnormal, but perhaps me feeling uncomfortable in the traditional church was for a reason. Jonathan is so authentic and is a stickler for biblical truth. He’s not shy about being vulnerable about his weaknesses and sharing his journey in his spiritual walk, which is a huge breath of fresh air as there’s a lot of spiritual performance, judgement and religion, which can be so alienating. I always feel at home when I listen to an episode and it’s a huge source of encouragement, inspiration and an encounter with biblical Jesus.
I have listened to several podcasts. Jonathan is an engaging interviewer and speaks to current topics. I recommend this podcast for thoughtful listeners.
I recently listened to Jonathan's interview with Ruth Chou Simons, who speaks of God "honing her heart" over the many years she has been raising children. Many phrases spoke directly to where I am at this season in life, and I have been inspiredn once again to "surrender all my dreams" to God and to delight in waiting on Him. Next I heard Priscilla Shirer, and now Lysa TerKeust...these interviews bring out personal nuggets of truth that God has been teaching them, and now we benefit from what they have learned. Thanks!
This puddcast really opened my eyes and got me to thinking about my purpose. Most people would have probably already figured that out by age 54. I just recently retired from a nursing profession that I have been in for 34 years and wonder “ What do I do now”? I loved what Ruth said about “Becoming does not happen overnight” and “ You don’t have to be blooming to be growing”. The key is abiding in Him. Thank you so much for this puddcast.
Great guests and good questions!
I just listened to the conversation with Ruth Chou Simons about art, beauty, and truth. I was so encouraged to find freedom from striving and hustling. So many beautiful reminders that my life and my everyday moments are not my own, but belong to the Lord. In my weaknesses, I can trust that He gave me those moments and that "His callings are His enablings." I am so quick to go searching for strategies and steps when things get challenging, and I needed to hear the admonition to abide in Him, not find my own solution. Ruth shared such wisdom in explaining that it's not about figuring out the right formula, but crying out to Him as "Abba, Father". Instead of doing everything, I am called to surrender everything and be in relationship with Christ. I will definitely be tuning in to hear more edifiying conversations on the Puddcast!
I’m so glad I found this podcast! It’s food for the soul done in a thought provoking, yet encouraging way. He has great guests and no subject is taboo. I love the transparency and authenticity displayed.
I'm thankful for this podcast. I've actually spent some time chatting with Jonathan via instagram and his podcast with William P Young set my heart on a burning chase. I've listened to that podcast at least 7 times and sobbed everytime. It's almost like my heart was screaming "I knew God was like that! And I've never had permission to even think that way." I love that Jonathan has been giving permission to hearts to understand mental health and spirituality need to be together in this journey. Thanks Jonathan!
I really appreciate the thought-provoking questions Jonathan asks. He goes beyond basic questions, and through his probing elicits a discussion that brings unique angles to light.
Listening to this podcast is like taking the roof off church and breathing fresh mountain air! I love the healthy breadth of perspectives offered in this podcast and the strong undertow of the host's desire for an abundant life in Jesus expressed through authentic community. The conversations are refreshingly honest and I very much look forward to the 2019 podcast season!
When I listen to the first episode of this podcast, I was hooked. My husband and I and our two young children listened to it in the car while driving out of town and even my kids listened with rapt attention. Jonathan‘s style is very conversational and relatable which makes for a very enjoyable listen. More than that, his content always leaves me thinking about something in a way that I had never thought about it before. In a world that is saturated with an overload of information via blogs, podcasts, and social media, finding true originality of thought and presentation is a rarity. Every time I listen to an episode of this podcast, whether it’s an exciting interview or just Jonathan sharing his thoughts on a subject matter, my heart is ignited with a new, fresh love and joy for the God I have known for many years. Whether you are driving in the car, getting ready for the day, or you find yourself with a few quiet minutes alone, you won’t be disappointed by listening to this podcast!
