Hysteria

Reviews For Hysteria

I so want to listen to & enjoy this podcast BUT unfortunately just about every other word spoken by Erin is ‘like’ … soooo distracting ☹️
Thank you so much for making this podcast and giving more information on women's rights and abortion. This is an amazing podcast and I really appreciate you creating it!
Alyssa and Erin bring all the wisdom, lots of humor, and amazing guests!
Hey, you should look at the National Wildlife Federation’s certified wildlife habitat program! They also have a monarch habitat initiative. Great organization! Great pod!
I’ve been a fan since the first episode but I miss the personal-political section of the pod with the amazing group of women who would talk about varying topics. The political aspect of the show is important, critical and I learn a lot, but it has gotten longer and more negative. Bring back Megan, Naomi, Kirin, Grace, Tian, Dana, Michaela, and the rest of the crew!
Thank you Erin and Alyssa for saying what I’m thinking. I look forward to listening to you every week. I’ve even sent some of your episodes to my father in law, a man who said he was a Goldwater Republican, is now an independent. And dare I say Democrat curious? Anyway, thank you for helping me keep my sanity and allowing me to enjoy when I’m petty.
I have been in the Hysteria fan club since the very first episode! I have been happy to keep listening as the show has evolved over the years, but I do have to say that I deeply miss personal-political. I appreciate all the ways that Hysteria keeps me informed of political happenings, especially as it relates to reproductive rights and women’s issues. But it can get exhausting every week to hear again and again how we’re losing autonomy over our bodies, and while I value that knowledge I also used to seek Hysteria equally for the reprieve of topic the panelists would discuss. Also - the panelists were so amazing! Kieran, Megan, Michaela, Dana, Grace, Naomi, and so many more. It felt more like girlfriends just chatting during their portion of the episode, and I feel like I need that again to sustain my listenership.
But I just listened to an episode about women and men and felt like the person being interviewed was very thoughtful about the issues but Erin was very dogmatic and described a condition of how young men were being raised that hasn’t been the case for decades. As a Gen X mom of a son Gen Z boys were not raised the way she described- these boys come from two parent households in almost all cases and were not raised to think that women will serve them and their dads cooked and their moms travelled for work. Also, her reaction to the story of women wanting men who earn 500k and are over 6 feet tall was to say that these standards indicated that women were looking for ways to improve their lives. This is a crazy comment that the only way to improve your life is to find a rich, tall man. All that said I normally love Erin and Allysa- but a more thoughtful approach to these difficult problems would be greatly appreciated. The problem of young men goes far beyond whether or not women need men to marry. We need to work with men, we need them to vote with us and not against us, and we need acknowledge that young men are struggling and we need to be thoughtful about it. I don’t worry for my own son as he is kind, over 6 feet tall and while only 16 is likely to do just fine.

Love the show every week, but this week with Katie Couric was one of my favorites! I want you guys to be friends as she said. Hope she is on again sometime! Love you both!
Been listening to the podcast for a couple of years. Turned of by weird hypocrisy and factual inaccuracy disguised as opinion.
I appreciate the show’s updates on all things political, but I especially love the non-political conversations with guests about hot takes, “I Feel Petty,” and just everyday things that will make you laugh. For example, Caroline’s segment on the women’s soccer drama was pure gold! But, I agree with the other reviewer that the hating on Philly is distasteful for a show that aims to be inclusive. There’s a lot of great people in the city and suburbs, and we delivered a non-Trump presidency for you in 2020.
I love the show. I’m no expert but I think you should call the podcast “Women Save America”.
This is my favorite podcast, been listening for years! I save it to listen on the weekend during long walks with my dog. Would love to have the personal-political panel back. I miss the queen of Illinois, Megan, Julissa, the whole rotating crew!
I look forward to your commentary every week on news in these United States, plus the interviews, and traditional segments, like ‘F that guy’ and Sani-Petty corner. Toxic masculinity abounds in Western New York. Thank you, Catholic church, for the toxic gift that keeps on giving. Hysteria helps me keep my sanity in this part of New York. Love that Juanita loves Christmas as do the hosts. Keep chasing the joy!
Erin and Alyssa are the smartest, kindest, and funniest
I've seen a few other comments about this, and have been wondering the same thing: has the format changed? Is there no more panel for personal-political? I used to really enjoy this podcast, but it now feels a little less somehow. The panel (even when I didn't always agree) was more vibrant and dynamic, and nuanced. I'm hoping this change is temporary because I miss the way it used to be.
Girls, I listen every week. Big fan! Love you both! Want to make jam with Alyssa! I’m a 60 yr old mba educated person. Philly is the best. I grew up in Philly now I live in suburbs. We are PASSIONATE about our teams! So fun! I’ve been cheering since I was 11. I don’t climb poles but I love my teams. It’s a beautiful, diverse city! Stop basing us! 😜
As a long time fan and listener I’m wondering what happened to the panel discussion? I miss that and hope it’s just a temporary change in format.
I love this show, but you can’t complain that Republican policies on abortion are unscientific and in the same episode have a segment on astrology. Let’s live in the real world in all instances.
But I find it very difficult to do with Sen. Gillibrand. I appreciate the work she’s doing on the ERA but when I think about Al Franken, I just want to scream. We needed him on the Judiciary Committee, as you well know. I’ll have to get over it someday but not today…..

I love this show. But where is personal/political? Bring back the gang! Don’t become Keep It!
The hosts are so comfortable in their own skin. Although I enjoy Erin, I especially enjoy Alyssa. She comes with a ton of experience and is so intelligent, articulate and fun. Kudos to the hosts and their support team.
Ugh. I really hoped I would love this podcast. Seems like I should. But you’re just hard to listen to. I can’t relate. You seem blind to a lot of the world, unfortunately. And before y’all just write me off, I am a democrat. So that’s not it.
Thank you for supporting our governor and her efforts to curb gun violence. Love your podcast.
I’ve listened to Hysteria every week for a few years now. As a gen Z, I feel like Alyssa and Erin are my cool older sisters whose life advice I want to take. The news can be draining and depressing, but these two and their amazing guests keep me informed and energized. There isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t say “f that guy” in my head a million times. Thanks for being my sanity corner queens !!
Love especially today's episode, Pariarchy is Coming for You. Thanks for interesting perspectives and insights. And extra thanks for LGBTQ rights and acceptance, for advocacy for abortion and contraceptive rights. I appreciate knowing where to send my dollars- candidates, activist orgs, etc. Al's Shannon Watts one of my favorite people and activists. Thanks for having her on
Love love this podcast. It’s part of my Thursday self-care routine.
At least I was feeling blue until I found this podcast. You guys are my little moment of sanity here in a deep red county located in Deep Red Indiana. It’s bananas here. The few of us Democrats who actually live here are fighting hard and to turn the state around. I feel as though we are fighting a losing battle. You guys are a bright spot in my week and a reminder that not everyone flies a Trump 2024 flag in the bed of their pickup, rolling coal on their way to Chick-Fil-A. I am a proud Hoosier and I’m (probably) not going anywhere (in my blue Prius electric hybrid).
I love these women and look forward to their funny and thoughtful discussions each week! However… ladies the ads are way too long ! I know you are giving it your personal spin but they are the longest podcast ads I have ever heard. I shouldn’t be able to almost run a whole mile during the ad section haha
Sometimes I listen to this and just think that we could do so much better in terms of interesting and insightful women’s voices. Some of the guests are good, but the regular hosts don’t usually offer much beyond basic liberal talking points on mainstream topics. Missed opportunity for Crooked network.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts and lives and sometimes imperfections with us each week.
How I love these women who I’ve heard often on Pod Save America. So smart and funny. So of course how I’d love Hysteria - right? Why are you talking about your bloated weddings? It was AOK - I guess - to have them - but did you need to dedicate so much time to talking about them? So Expensive, so bad for the environment in so many ways, so BORING. I know you women can do so so much better. Please!
Amazingly hilarious & insightful. Love the political, cultural dialogue & exploration. Keep telling us how you really feel. Adore the cursing & F-Bombs because don’t we all feel that way?

I started listening to this podcast a while back because it was filled with interesting, thought-provoking dialogue on cultural and sociological topics. As time has gone on, however, it’s become more and more elitist and out of touch fluff that bores me to tears and makes me switch off. This latest episode was the last straw. Letting your guest say that 45 is actually funny because he just says what you’re thinking and not challenging that comment in the least?!?? I thought I was listening to CNN. You’ve lost the plot. You may as well just stick to your conversations about reality and bake-off shows because I’ll no longer take your conversations on politics or feminism seriously. But I guess as long as you keep getting money from the countless ads your show spews out, you’re sleeping like babies.
Great show. I learn so much every week. I am a cis straight male to whom the show lends much needed perspective. They’ve also reworked the ads so they’re less intrusive.
This is one of the best podcast out there. Goes over the news, important topics, and is petty all at the same time. Just what American women (men and others too) need at a time where it can be difficult to listen to the news.
Srsly, just listen. They are the best!

Also love the Petty Brew coffee that came with my sweatshirt order… how do I order more?
It's great. Just subbed. Would love to hear you bring on "Sasha" from Community News with Paul and Sasha. She's a comedian and TV producer and would fit in perfectly on your show. Meanwhile, keep up the good work. Going to listen to more.
I though this sounded interesting, but when I heard the lump Nate Silver in with Tucker Carlson as “toxic media men” I realized there’s nothing here but facile snarkiness.
Love the show, but please stop advertising Lume deodorant. The brand makes money off of body shaming people, particular women. Nope.
I’ve listened to this podcast since day one. I’ve loved the conversations, the guests, and believe this podcast helped my survive the Trump presidency. That being said, the latest episode felt like a classiest take on tools people are trying to use to be better humans and protect themselves. I can’t imagine that ghosting someone is better than trying to explain that you don’t want to be friends anymore. The conversation was hard to listen to and makes me reconsider following the podcast. I wish that hosts had brought on mental health professional as a guest to discuss the topic instead of making harsh and judgement comments from their very privileged positions.
There are literally 15-20min of ads per episode. It feels like something they would complain about on their podcast if they had to deal with it in real life.
WAY too many ads. Getting hard to stay with it.
Loveee the podcast, hosts and all the guests. But the second Julissa Arce comes on I get annoyed. She makes it a point to always make the conversation about race. Don’t get me wrong, I am a Hispanic woman and have dealt with my fair share of injustices because of race. I know that it is very important to talk about. But like on todays episode she said that she’s tired of people giving attention to these white celebrities. Girl that is not the issue. Hispanics/Latinos need to be represented but not by this woman. Also, don’t buy her book.
This is one of my favorite Crooked Media podcasts. I listen every week and find the conversations highly insightful and eye-opening. Erin and Alyssa practically feel like good friends I look forward to hearing from each week. Their vibe is very cool and casual, so the material is probably accessible to most listeners even when they’re talking about very heavy, important topics. My only point of criticism is a minor one, and it is for one of their regular guests, Akilah Hughes. This guest belts out laughter during every single sentence she says, which is extremely distracting. That’s my “I feel petty” remark about this show. Otherwise, this show is absolutely a sanity corner moment for me each week. Please keep up the great work!
