Reviews For Hacks on Tap with David Axelrod and Mike Murphy

Fabulous program! Great Burt & Ernie chemistry between David & Mike, playful banter but not overdone. Good pace. Have great guests. Excellent communication skills--use of picturesque, colloquial language that facilitates clear understanding. Both have deep knowledge & experience in political history and personalities.
I love this show and listen every week, but Mike’s routine disdain for Kamala Harris is getting ooooold!!!
I love how these to complement one another. Great insights and conversations.
Axe and Murphy bring a great perspective to the reality of politics in a a humorous way. One of the best podcasts-loved Amy from the Cook report! Also did not know MM was in VR vs Trump. Will add supporting them/pdcast along with Project Lincoln.
Insightful with some humor. Amazing show!
Was all on board with today’s episode until the VP talk. The misogyny of the conversation was apparently lost on all of you. When men describe other men as ambitious and looking out for themselves in their careers, they mean it as a compliment. But when a woman is SO ambitious and looking out for herself, she’s Kamala Harris and not a good candidate. Confident, intelligent women are often criticized by men who feel threatened by them. While confident and not always intelligent men are praised, rewarded and sometimes elected president. The ridiculous standards women candidates are held to are real. Please don’t perpetuate on your show. Do better.
The discussion on this podcast is unique. These men know their business and that is politics from a campaign manager’s perspective. They look at data and come up with analysis you don’t get on news channels. Plus they are funny. They are bringing in a third person as a guest commentator and that adds another dimension. Love this podcast. I recommend this to all my friends who enjoy politics.
This is a great conversational discussion of current political events from seasoned veterans. Their depth of experience let’s them draw on a wealth of knowledge to relate today’s fast news cycle clearly and meaningfully. Highly recommended!!
It’s like a focus group to help me understand where sanity went from politics
Excellent balance of “inside baseball” and the big picture, together with Murphy’s vivid, witty descriptions and Axelrod’s great sense of how people think and feel.

Feels like I’m listening to a current adaptation of Richard Ben Cramer’s “What it Takes” every week. Mike and Axe provide insider knowledge and keen analysis with plenty of pluck and wit sprinkled in.
Axelrod and Murphy, from opposite sides of the political party spectrum, come together to help get the USA back on track for common sense and normalcy. They respect each other’s political views, but kid each other much. They have great guests with much experience. Great program to share with others.
Axe and Mike provide the listeners with a well balanced analysis of the political climate. The work well together and give the listeners great insight in to the political arena. During this very unusual time, it is refreshing to be able to hear different points of view. I may not agree with all the conclusions but enjoy hearing different views. Keep up your good conversations and hope Trump gets bumped.
Don’t miss a single episode if you want to understand this presidential cycle
One more Gina Raimondo shout out and I think my head is going to explode! Other than that this is one of the few podcasts I’m refreshing the feed as I wait for it to drop. Great duo, insightful analysis, touch of comedy makes it gold for people who love the raw politics of this whole crazy system we call democracy.
Informative but -god love him- David hogs the conversation with interminable sentences...
Great podcast love the analysis
David and Mike are funny and informative.
I listened to 6-7 political weekly podcast and Hacks is by far my favorite. The political insight is awesome as well as Gibbs (sorry Mark) is my favorite guest. If you guys would quit your TV gigs, we could get a late week addition as well!
I love the podcast. I think Murphy’s take on VP being an African-American is not necessary misses the point. It is not a base move. I think is about opening doors that have been closed for too long, and picking an African American is not just about turnout - it’s about recognizing that but for the racism that permeates this society Dems (at least) can finally be addressed - and in this particular moment - the best person may just happen to be a woman, who happens to be African-American.
In addition to their extensive knowledge about campaigns, I'm drawn by the ability of a liberal and a conservative to speak civilly; heck, Axlerod and Murphy like each other. If not unique, it is rare and much appreciated.
The humorous and conversational back & forth is great.
I enjoy hearing the different perspectives/ opinions but I was disappointed to hear, in 2 separate episodes, a disparaging/divisive, reference by Murphy, of Dem’s I.e., snowflakes, communists. I have no doubt he meant it in jest. Nevertheless, I don’t appreciate it. If he continues I will no longer listen.
Republican Mike Murphy brings the chuckles in addition to great analysis with Democrat operative Axelrod. Its bi-partisan convo at its best!
I am a total politics junkie and in a time when everything is so polarized, it is nice to listen their wise opinions and learn from their experience in a calm manner. Plus they are really funny! One of my favorites.
I love your show and look forward to it every week. The way you bounce off each other is sooo entertaining. It is interesting to hear about the elections from two “hacks” who have inside knowledge of the behind the scenes maneuvers that go on in campaigns. I wish I could remember a fraction of Mike Murphy’s witticisms, latest was a reference to yellow carpet/canary feathers, sorry Axe!
You all seem to have forgotten the T when discussing the SCOTUS opinion and DJT’s attitude toward the LGBTQ+ community. He has taken away many protections and healthcare for transgender persons. He may not have crafted the orders but it is his signature on them.
If you like viewing problems from 40,000 ft in the air and without any context of what is actually happening on the ground then this is yours. They shape their discussions to fit their pre-conceived narrative.
I don’t miss David Axelrod and Mike Murphy tackling the week’s news! Their years of experience working deep inside politics means nuanced and insightful commentary, and their guests are (usually) just as expert. I feel like I learn about the politics of political campaigns.
One of the best “hacks on tap”. Phil was hilarious😂~mpkyle
Murph did a good job without his copilot. Phil was entertaining. As someone who has lived in Asia, interesting to get his take on “thousand year old eggs” in China. Looking forward to Axe returning next week.
I enjoy the political duo and I think you will if you like the mechanics of politics.

Love your podcast! Both of your political perspectives are always spot on! Maybe invite Joe Scarborough on sometime?
One of my favorite political podcasts. It has insightful commentary with friendly banter. Among my top 3 political podcasts. Keep up the great work!
Smartest POLITICAL analysis out there
These guys are so experienced but don’t take themselves too seriously. And funny, and not precious. Wise and realistic without being too cynical.
I am a 65 yo retired Pharmacist. I consider myself an independent which means I am in a continual argument with my kids. I enjoy your insights and your range of guests. Thank you for giving me hope.
This is one of only 2 podcasts that I wait for and listen to every single week. Great banter and analysis
Political podcast on the Internet. These two guys and whoever guests with them make this podcast a MUSt listen.
Axe and Murphy are the best in political commentary and each week they bring outstanding guests to elevate the discussion.
If only inside baseball was this much fun! Axelrod and Murphy are political pros who understand what it takes to get a candidate elected, Axelrod is slightly left of center and Murphy is slightly to the right, both are unified in their contempt for the fool who currently is president. If you want to understand this year’s election and how campaigns are made, don’t miss an episode. (Also the podcast is endlessly entertaining and has the easy chemistery of two pros who are entirely sympatico.)
Love the podcast, always fun and easy to listen to, and we learn a ton from those two insiders about campaigns and politics.
I listen to many podcasts and this is the one I look most forward to every week! Fast moving and witty...guests are also great but Ax and Murph great all by themselves.
Go behind the scenes, listen, and have your consciousness raised.
The key is two smart hosts who like and respect one another.
I like the fact that Axe is Democrat and Murphy is a republican - and they’re civil to each other! They state opposing viewpoints and are respectful to each other. Their insights into campaigns, policy and political history are valuable. I look forward to this podcast every week. Would like to hear more women on the show.
I love this podcast so much, I await it eagerly, but he jumps all over and ruins what is an in-depth and sane view of the intricacies of American politics
Have been listing to Hacks on Tap since its inception and it gets better and better and absolutely more timely as we look towards Election Day. As a former Republican/now Independent and an always “Never Trumper”, I nevertheless do push against the “Trump Derangement System” now dominating the discussion in many media outlets. These hosts and their guests, while certainly opinionated, do not dismiss oposing opinions and the debate is robust but fair. Their political experience and historical perspective as “hacks” in numerous state and national campaigns is fascinating and truly a masterclass in politics. I never miss an episode and have recommended this podcast to friends and family across the political spectrum !
Fun, entertaining and informative. Axelrod and Murphy are so witty and sharp in their dialog. I love getting information from seasoned campaign professionals from both sides. Always have a laugh out load moment and leave feeling I have inside, strategic political information.
