Super lazy reporting.... this feels like someone read the articles around this fascinating story and then made up some dialogue around it... Bummer.
Couldn’t make it through the first episode
Listening to the voice of “Anna” was like nails on a chalkboard. So cliche for a vapid 20-something. The story itself is fascinating but this form of storytelling left much to be desired.

This is laughably bad. Whose idea was it to ruin a good story?
This story should have been done as straight long form journalism . All this music and nonsense dramatisation is a cheap (literally) alternative to real reporting!!! You are insulting the intelligence of your audience!!!
Oh, man. So disappointed. What a compelling story. Seemingly impossible to mess up. This “podcast” managed. If your into Sesame Street you might like it.
Can’t believe the podcast’s score isn’t higher! It’s totally addictive. Binge-listened without taking a pause!
First, if anyone has HEARD Anna speak on tv, etc.; this IS how she sounds!! The actor on the podcast played it perfectly, in my opinion! I’ve followed Anna’s tale, read Rachel’s book, pretty much whatever I can get my hands on and this podcast was icing on the cake! Hit all the details while keeping succinct, I highly recommended it!
I thought it was just me but Anna’s voicing was ridiculous. She sounded like a spoiled brat airhead who never would have commanded the attention of powerful people.
I really wanted to like this podcast, but by the third episode I just couldn’t take the actors accent of Anna any longer. Had to unsubscribe..
Very compelling story , amazing how the Banks , Hotels fell for it One friend this person had and she abused that friendship and ended up owing her $thousands Podcast could of been improved if there were more realistic accent!
This was by far the most interesting and fun podcast I have ever listened to. I couldn’t stop listening until it was over.

Lost me in the first minute at the terrible fake vox pop about where her wealth comes from. Nobody does that. Where was the editor on this project? That bit was an insult to journalism, podcasting, and acting.
Interesting subject matter- I was really looking forward to this- but could hardly get through the first episode. The voice actors! Seriously to most annoying podcast I have ever (tried to) listen to bc of the voicing
Story was okay but I am not sure why they decided to have Anna sound like an airhead or a valley girl when she was obviously a clever person who got away with Cons for a while.
I really couldn’t take the dramatic re-enactments with horrible accents. If it were a normal podcast it would’ve been amazing.
I put this on thinking I’d listen to it over a period of time, ended up binging the whole thing in one day
This woman was ballsy! So New York. Fascinating story and wonderfully told. I enjoyed the accents and fictional scenes. I forgot it wasn’t true. Storytelling straddling the line between fiction and non done right.
If Anthony Trollope were alive, this is the story he would write.
Wow. I was really ready to love this.... but, where do I start? I’m going to start with the good- it’s a fast paced ride, the music suits the material, it’s well researched. The bad- the vignettes are BEYOND HORRIBLE, the accents are Cringeworthy and borderline insulting. The audio isn’t mixed well so when listening to interviews that were conducted by phone, those sound like they are under water, the vignettes are generally too loud, and you have to constantly turn the volume up or down depending on what portion you’re actually listening to. I’m hoping it gets better but they should have just stuck to solid reporting and interviews to shape the story. The fictitious storyline that weaves throughout doesn’t help the reporting and in fact makes it harder to commit to listening to this podcast.
Really good! ♥️
Fun to listen to but Anna’s voice is super annoying!
The story is fast-paced and interesting, though the acting and accents are kind of comically bad. The soundtrack is quite good. Overall, very entertaining and I liked that it wasn’t too long. It’s probably helpful if you’ve already read some of the articles that the podcast is based on.
This podcast seemed to me like someone just reading from a script and not really invested in the material. The whole thing also seemed a little rushed. The voice of Anna reminded me of Villanelle!! I though Missing Crypto Queen was outstanding and it’s also about a con woman (although an extremely intelligent one, which Anna Sorokin is not). If you were interested in this, you should listen to that!
This is an outstanding podcast telling the rise and fall of a con artist and how faking it till you make it never ends well. Well done BBC4
This was really interesting. A nice quick listen with fast pacing.
