Reviews For Down

I thought this was really well done, I’ve listened to the entire thing in just one sitting! The voice acting gets better as it goes on, and the acting is on par with a lot of other similar audio drama series. Not to mention that the story is very well done. The eldritch horror aspects don’t feel cheesy and they make it so it’s always somewhat based in reality. 9/10!

2/5

Somewhat fun, but basically overdone tropes delivered with too much drama to take seriously.
It’s an entertaining story. The production is top notch, as well as the acting.
Acting is awful, on par with community theater. Actors play stereotypes, giving no depth at all to their characters. Sound design is uninvolving. I don’t know whether the story turned out to be good, since I couldn’t get through the first episode.
I liked all of it. Story very interesting
It was a good plot and story line but the actors over acting was pretty bad. One character is calm cool and collective and the next second he’s having a meltdown like a 13 year old and don’t forget the captain he was so annoying. The length of episodes where just ridiculous. Majority of them where 10 minutes long. Just when I got into an episode it was over. On a positive note the story was finished and not left open like other podcasts.
I thought this concept was super cool! But I was hoping for more science and action while this was more people’s reactions to situations…not my jam. I couldn’t make it to the end.
I listened to all 24 episodes, hoping it would get to the good stuff, but it just goes nowhere. The ending had to have been written on a cocktail napkin after a long night of drinking on an empty stomach, because it was totally pointless.
After listening all through, the plot feels like a SparkNotes mixup of late-90s sci-fi classics like “The Core” and “Sphere” and “The Abyss” with a dash of Dante Alighieri for philosophical seasoning. Enjoyable and well produced, but a tad derivative — and confusing in its episodic format.
This show really got under my skin in a weird way I didn’t expect. It was pretty ooky spooky and creeped me out. The ending made me feel really desperate and I didn’t expect that at the beginning
Good story, good voice actors, but to get 8 minutes of content you were forced to hear 4 mintutes of comercials, intros more comercials and then the outro. It just ruined the flow of the narrative. I am done subscribing to any more short episodes. Its just greedy content providers that do this.
I like when a horror podcast has a slow build. This one did just that and watching the chaos unfold was extremely entertaining
Really disappointed.
very good story and interesting characters, but it lacked some depth (no pun intended). The characters didn’t have much beyond their initial role and the hole thing with Marion’s brother felt tacked on. The ending was a bit confusing and anticlimactic, with a lot of questions still unanswered. I would have liked to know what happened afterwards, what the ghost fish venom was actually for, (I think it was unnecessary to include the bit about the “parasite” as it was totally misleading and didn’t contribute to the plot at all, I think it should have just killed him and left it at that). And maybe we could have a little more info on the whole multiverse thing, even if the creature had said something as simple as “I am a multidimensional being, feeding off of every version of you that has ever existed”, I would be pretty satisfied. Overall, I’m not a professional critic, I’m just giving my opinion and I think this show was pretty good for the most part.
It was good. Like nothing amazing. Nothing terrible. Acting was good. Music was cool. Don’t know to much about realm but I’ll check out more. I guess I’d say the ending could have been better. And I was a bit confused at times. Like what exactly was it? Don’t wanna give it away also, but ya.a bit confusing thinking back.
Even though the episodes are weirdly short and there is this high pitched ‘sound effect’ used during many of the episodes which pierces your skull, I hung in for all 24 episodes. I found the first half of the episodes enjoyable and liked the characters and their development. Unfortunately, I found the ‘ending’ super frustrating - so many unanswered questions.
enjoyed the ride down ;)
I got into Definitely Human with The Bunker, and I also theroughly enjoyed the Infinite Bad. As a big fan of lovecraftian horror and sci fi I LOVED this series! I hope to see more great sci fi material from these folks soon! Especially if it is spooky like this one. I can’t wait to see what comes next from these people but they do such a good job not only with the story but with the use of sound! Great job guys! Highly recommend this podcast!
But has anyone noticed that episode 15 and 16 are the same episode with different titles??
At times the story line was a teensy hard to follow, but that could be user error due to multitasking! Great production quality and voice actors!
Writing, dialogue, and direction IS sofa king we Todd Ed
The premise initially piqued my interest, but the story quickly devolved into 2D characters lacking compelling voice and a plot that seems both derivative of previous such adventures and deeply ignorant of the deep sea and deep water exploration more generally. While good fiction does not require a subject matter expert, it should be aware of the most basic aspects of the system and informed by the settings providing the context. The had neither.
Would love to hear more about underwater adventures !!
Annoyingly short episodes

3/5

It started off amazing and what I thought was a climax would only turn out to be just absolutely horrible writing I can’t believe I gave my time to this trash.
Amazing series! From the first episode I was hooked! Great cast/characters, and the small bits of humor were a nice touch and doesn't take away from the eldritch horror theme.
this was the first podcast of this type that i’ve listened to. i loved the sounds and how it made everything immersive. but marion was messing things up for me.
This show was super cool! I love deep-sea sci-fi & horror movies & shows, so a podcast fit right in! I listened to the whole thing while I worked! Sometimes the music transitions were a little loud, and the use of industrial music was a little funny, but overall I dig this podcast!
Some great Lovecraftian horror reminiscent of “The Thing”. Really well written and I really enjoyed it.
I liked it well enough to complete the series & the production values & performances were solid. I just wish the plot had held together a little more overall. Not a bad listen at all.
For the most part, I enjoyed this story. The plot and pacing were excellent, with some similarities to Event Horizon with good twists throughout. The characters are mostly a very strong part of this drama, are all well voice acted, and well written, going through excellent character growth throughout…except for Marion, who is one of the biggest weak points of this drama. Her VA is excellent, but it’s hard to work with a character whose arrogant, moralizing, self justifying, condescending, attitude is compounded by the fact she’s apparently never wrong, or at least unable to be called out by her fellow crew, and even when facing her own “demons”, she apparently has already squared that away long ago. I’ve thought long about this, and she goes through NO character growth throughout the entire drama, which makes her very difficult to like, and the weakest point in this audio drama, in addition to some minor complaints about the music, which is easily ignorable.
Overall the story and voice acting were quite good. I found the characters to be a bit irritating towards the end, but still generally a fun listen if you’re looking for something quick.
Great acting, exciting storyline and sound effects were awesome. Give it a listen.
The sound design, voice acting and plot are exquisite!

I’m a huge fan of anything Definitely Human creates! I was a bit surprised to learn this wasn’t a comedy like Mars Corp or The Monster Hunters, but I absolutely loved every episode of it. Keep up the great content guys!!
Holy CRAP! This thing was so amazing 🤩 absolutely loved it!!! Keep up it bouncy yeah production crew?☺️💙 -GenZ
Very well done got hooked and binge listened!
s1e1 wont play. Marked unknown. Hijacked my desktop. Hard to hard restart to get it off my machine.
Good voice acting and very interesting story so far. But why does the music sound like an action movie? Anyway, that’s my only complaint
There is a high pitched ring sound effect used throughout which makes many of these episodes unlistenable for me, which is really disappointing because I enjoy the mystery and character arcs so far. I think the sound designer found the perfect sound effect to score the characters loosing their grip on reality, however it’s too good because it’s causing me pain too!
I was enjoying this podcast but got to episode 17 and it has been saying not available for over a week. Can’t miss an episode and still know what is going on.
I’d like to listen to the first episode but it’s not available
But The White Vault is a similar style podcast and is way better
It’s currently unfinished. Any update about the end of the series is presumably behind a patreon paywall :/
I truly can’t overstate how truly AMAZING this podcast is
I gave this one four stars. The only reason being is that I wish the episodes were a little longer. I feel like I really start getting into it and it’s over. Amazing content though. Definitely worth a listen!
Umm... it said ‘in this 24 - part’ and it ends on 19?! What the heck!? Nothing since May 2020, it just stops. I’m so frustrated with shows that I start only to realize that there will never be an ending. What’s the point in creating a show that leaves the listening audience annoyed? It’s only going to leave you with a very poor rating and review. Thanks for wasting everyone’s time.
This show is fantastic. Every moment is thrilling or intriguing. I loved every moment.
Amazing podcast, except for the scene towards the end of episode 15 where they decided it was a good idea to have us listen to the characters violently slurp down cereal for a full forty seconds. Are you serious? I hope you got a good payout from the money match the sound designer had with Mike Tyson right before they decided this was acceptable. Disgusting. Otherwise, this and all their other work is terrific.
