Michael Covel's Trend Following

Reviews For Michael Covel's Trend Following

This is one of the most insightful podcasts that I have ever come across! Michael does such a great job of sharing his wisdom and I love how he leads meaningful conversations with guests who bring so much experience to the table. Highly recommend checking this show out - you won’t be disappointed!
Michael, host of the Trend Following podcast, highlights all aspects of investment, economics and more in this can’t miss podcast! The host and expert guests offer insightful advice and information that is helpful to anyone that listens!
I have been listening to Michael's Tren Following poscast for years. I really appreciate his straight up / direct perspective. While it might be too direct for some, I appreciate how he cuts thru the noise and gives the straight truth. Following price is the way to see thru the noise of news / social media advice. Combined with position sizing and risk management you are on your way to a system that has a good change of success. Keep up the good work Michael!
Been trend following for a while and this is an east listen for trading and beyond. Thanks Michael
Started listening trying to understand what Trend Trading is , I can't say I got what I was looking for but His guests are excellent and Michaels delivery is on point, good questions and interesting topics.
Covel is the Jim Rome of finance. All would benefit greatly by listening to ‘Trend Following’ w/ Michael Covel. It’s not just about markets, trading or the trend following method of trading in markets. There are so many elements to Covel’s genius that I have leaned so much from. I am a big fan of his style of writing and speaking. This podcast, in my opinion, is on the top of the list of podcasts about markets, trading, behavioral finance, etc. Anyone who is a fan of Michael and this podcast should also read ‘The Complete Turtle Trader.’ One of the best books I’ve ever read detailing one of the very best stories the market has ever seen.
I'm listening to Episode #308 and Michael (over and over, and over again) suggests that the only thing that matters is "price" and that trying to predict the markets (through fundamental or predictive technical analysis) is a fools game. This has been my experience in the markets..."the trend is your friend". Thanks Mike
It all started with trend following and extensions of his publications, but the podcast has evolved into so much more. Yes be systematic, yes think beyond the narrative, but do spare some time for interesting people with a point of view. Enjoy the conversations found here in.
I’ve been subscribed to the Trend Following podcast for several years and the variety of guests and depth of knowledge they bring is phenomenal! Episode 913 is a great example. It had 2 guests that had some interesting insights. I had already read several books by Emanuel Derman, and the chance to listen to him was very appreciated.
Michael is one of the best interviewers one could ever come across. I have bought the books of many of the authors he has interviewed and have never been disappointed. The most recent books I have bought are "Messengers" by Martin and Marks and "Don't Take Yes For An Answer" by Steve Herz.Listen to these 2 interviews. Really good stuff. Keep up th good work Michael.
This review is years overdue. My appologies. Hands down, Michael's podcast is the best! His content, personality, and special guests create an experience that entertains as it makes you smarter. Michael's book, "The Little Book of Trading" caught my attention when I was learning how to trade. I later learned he had a podcast. It might have been the first one I every listened to. Through the years, I have listened to more than I can remember. The one constant has been Trend Following. I have never taken it off of my rotation. He has the best overall program. Thank you for giving us your insight and the gift of your podcast. Remarkable! Sincerley, Eric
Covel continues to put out content that is as strong and mindful as any in the game.
Michael has fantastic and unique guests and always has a great interview. He has a different point of view, and this podcast is a enlightening listen.

Kind of hit and miss podcast. When Peter stays away from the Ayn Rand nonsense and sticks to his knitting it can be super interesting. But when he lurches into ideology he comes across as a major wingnut. Outside of this the audio quality is pretty poor for a podcast in 2020 podcast - as today the bar is pretty high on that front. The musical intros / interludes are particularly awful and it would be worth taking a little of his trading profits and engaging someone to help him get the audio side improved.
Thanks for standing your ground it amazes me how people think numbers are racist
Michael just sounds abrasive. I made it through 2 episodes because I love the guests and even though I know he’s not doing it on purpose, you just want to reach through a punch the jerk sound out of his head. He should swallow his pride and just produce a more talented persons podcast and stop trying to be famous.

I downloaded a few of his podcasts. What tuned me off was how he claims how well written his books were. They are not great in my opinion. It doesn’t provide any actionable information except follow the trend. Does anyone know if he has made any money trading? That would be interesting. Legend in his own mind.
The episode with Annie Duke on her book, Thinking in Bets, which you reposted just recently, is AMAZING.
You have a great diverse guest, and topics. Love the monolouges to by the way. Each and everytime I listen to your podcast it seems to be about something that is going on in my world, and the perspectives your guests bring help me gain new insight to these matters. You are doing a great job never give this podcast up please, and thanks alot
Completely useless podcast. Avoid. And never give this person your hard earned money!
Have followed Michael for some time... the morph from a pure trend trading podcast is excellent. Every episode that takes us away from the straight and narrow to explore the topics that develop our displince and pyscological robustness are pure joy. These series is a must for anyone involved in a trading business, but there is something for everyone. Keep up the great work.
That's how good the better episodes of this program are. What's best: episodes about psychology & cognitive development. These are often outstanding. Covel is quite the interviewer, establishing great rapor w/ his guests, regularly asking asking them insightul questions. Not so good: the more that an episode directly relates to trading, or to the work of entrepreneur x or y, the less interesting, exception being when trading nuts and bolts are the focus, eg interviews w/ Tom Basso. But when the "trading world" and/or one person's exploits are front and center, its usually much less interesting (I write this a trader).
[ACTION] => Go listed first and then come back <= I've never ever written a podcast review, but can no longer resist the siren call ... I've been following Michael's work for a very long time - seen him evolve over time, from pure trend trading educator, to one of the best interviewers at large. Period. Over an extended period (10+ years) and with more than 750 episodes, he covers everything you can imagine. He has no agenda, other than one that is close to mine as well, i.e. share knowledge, make people think, no BS, intellectual clarity and a moral compass that is beyond comparison. And with a clear CTA, that is, get out there and DO something, other than working for the Man ... There is not a single day that I am not touching something that he's been putting out there, and I will continue to look for every single piece of wisdom he'll continue to publish for a very long time, I may hope. I have no direct agenda either, other than maybe one day have him on my podcast as well (#WYFT) - who knows, time will tell. Bottom line - people (and Michael) tell me there are no shortcuts in life. Well, I beg to differ. This podcast is the closest thing. I rest my case.
This is not a trend following trading podcast. Maybe it was at one point. But now it is a “how to apply trend following psychology to everything you do.” And now Michael just primarily interviews authors trying to promote their books. If that interests you, then great. Give this a listen. But if you want actual trend following trading insights, look elsewhere (Top Traders Unplugged is a suggestion). And don’t waste your time on the monologue episodes. You’ll just hear Michael rant and tell you what an “unclear thinker” you are if you don’t think like him. Which, by the way, I do find myself aligning with Michael on most things. But don’t we have enough ranting in today’s society? If you want to persuade people that your thinking is “clearer” than theirs, then leave the raw emotions and filthy language at home and just show them the evidence. Michael is obviously sticking with the trend here with his podcast. Given the high number of 5 star reviews this podcast gets, hard to argue that his current approach isn’t getting him results he wants (more listeners I assume). But again, if you came here looking for trend following trading insights, you will be disappointed. That’s what I started listening for. And after a year, I haven’t found it. Maybe I should have stopped out sooner haha. But at any rate, my stop has finally been hit and now I’m moving on. So long Michael, and good luck.
I have been Following, get the pun, for years. You are a great interviewer. The above mentioned episode was just incredible. I hope educators and parents learn of this phenomenal teacher, her curriculum, process and views. We need her message to reverberate throughout society. As a nation we need our U.S Dept of Education to radically change course with a public education awareness campaign to alter the effects of well intentioned parents, society and Department of Educations throughout our country. We are restricting the free thinking and creative human experience, along with self confidence.
Michael’s attitude has no BS and clearly discusses topics of position sizing, risk, trend following, and price. This is so much more than an investing podcast and has perspectives on psychology you won’t find anywhere else. It is truly evergreen - you could listen to an episode 20 years from now and it will be just as relevant as today.

Great podcast. Whether you're a trend trader or not there is so much knowledge you can gain and apply from this.
Michael, host of the Trending Following podcast, highlights all aspects of finance, wealth and more in this can’t miss podcast! The host and expert guests offer insightful advice and information that is helpful to anyone that listens!
Quality of the major contribution work Michael does is outstanding.
I’ll give him props for having some good guests. But his monologues and opinions are typically nonsense. Not a political thing. His understanding of the issues he discusses is simply peripheral. The scary thing is that there are people who listen to him and think, ‘Man, this guy’s got Wall Street figured out.’

If you made me choose only one podcast, I would choose this one. The diversity of topics, the free-thinking, and deep questioning of guests is fantastic!
Michael Covel’s arena is ostensibly finance, but the podcast is about humans and what makes us tick. It is about living and understanding. It is about focusing on outcomes and overcoming your natural irrational reactive responses. If you think or are a curious person, you will find fascinating material in almost every podcast.
I think Michael is an amazing interviewer and his content is A+.
Great interviews with the top people in their respective fields of interest. People pay a lot of money and travel many miles to hear them speak. I get to hear them for free. Any university would be fortunate to have a guest speaker list of this quality.
Guests are usually outstanding and the host is a good interviewer. But monologues are like bad talk radio with endless railing against straw men and junk cobbled from American TV. I sometimes wonder if his left and right brain are connected and if he actually learns much from his guests. Reminds me of Emerson’s adage about foolish consistencies being the hobgoblin of little minds. Ces la vie. We get what we pay for.
Really impressed with the breadth of subjects and quality of guests. Don't know of anywhere else to get this type of exchange. Love the fact that the guests get to speak their mind without being interrupted. Michael's ability to engage his guests and ask pertinant questions is masterful. Aside from the sound trend following advice, the knowledge, wisdom, and forsight gained from the variety of subjects is entertaining and refreshing.
Thank u sir .
Great podcast. I learned a lot about trading / investing and life in general through listening to this podcast. This is the podcast I most recommend to others.
Mike is always interesting. My impression is that Mike is really into the behavioral aspects of investing, so there is a wide range of guests, from psychologists to life coaches to great investors. In summary, I would say Mike’s goal is to remove the scales from your eyes. Some people aren’t going to like that.
I happen to trade the market and have a nice time with it, but I have recommended this podcast to those who are not yet into but interested in trading. I walk each moring about 5 miles. In the year that I have heard of Michael Covel I have gotten through about 1/2 of all the recordings while on those walks. Always entertaining and informative.
Hi Michael First of all let me tell you in advance that I don't want a gift. I am just stoping by to say to you to just keep up with the great work you are doing with this podcast. Best investing insights ever !!! Greetings from a fan from Brazil. Regards, Antonio Belloni
This is brutal - this guy has issues and uses this podcast as a therapy session. Pure pure garbage
Michael and his guests provide some incredibly actionable and compelling content, spotlighting the coming trends and absolute best tactics to help you effectively grow your business. Highly recommend listening and subscribing to Trend Following if you want the knowledge AND mindsets to get ahead of the curve (and reach your overall business goals as a result)!
Michael has done an extraordinary job combining trading, psychology and a little bit of business into one spot! His emphasis on clear thinking has really helped me not only in trading but in everyday life!! Keep it up!

seriously? an 11 hour 1 gigabyte thing to end the year? i originally liked mike covel’s message and work but he is getting lazy and/or too full of himself to actually edit his message. i’m sorry but he doesnt respect my time as a listener. thank you for the free content but i am gone.
Love the thinking on this podcast, it's really opened my eyes. The traders he interviews are really interesting, and so are the non-traders. High quality, non-conventional intellect and honesty, if you dont know anything about the trend following mindset, start with Episode 1 and run them all.
In this day and age so many people to claim to know something that cannot be predicted. Michael Covel does engage in this type of behavior. When you listen to this podcast you will begin to sense an overarching theme of honesty, integrity and courage. Nothing is sugar coated and no promises are made. Instead what you get is the opportunity to listen to him pick some of the brightest minds on the planet. Since I personally do not have the time to do this, I consider this pure gold. This is not a stock picking podcast. If that is your thing go watch CNBC. What this podcast does is teach emotional intelligence, probability theory and a way of thinking that sadly is unque. Group think is not welcomed on this podcast. This is not entertainment. Mr Covel is a master communicator and knows how to ask questions that maximize responses. Listen in your car, walk your dog and listen, but seriously do yourself a favor and listen. You will not be disappointed and you will learn.
