This is honestly a good pallet cleanser for a lot of the true crime I listen to and watch, and it’s a fun way to learn about some new horror movies I’ve never heard of. Keep up the fantastic work y’all 🥰
I discovered this through the Rewatcher podcast. While I did enjoy their review of The Craft, Swimfan, and House of Wax, I don’t really enjoy their dynamic. Listening to almost 30 minutes of disorganized rambling (before getting to the actual movie) is annoying. An example of that can be found on their review episode for The Visit. Caleb is… interesting. And sometimes I do find that Alaina and Ash try too hard to be (and I hate to use this word) — overly “woke.” Wanted to like it, but I think I’ll maybe look for a different one.
Sometimes the episodes are great and other times, not so much. When the films are actually discussed and you can tell some legit prep work went into the episodes, they’re funny and entertaining. However, some episodes just devolve into what feels like listening to a bunch of stoned teenagers try to communicate with each other and it’s super boring. Also, sometimes Caleb’s negativity gets to be dull as well.

While I admit I have not listened to all episodes, every episode I have listened to includes Caleb talking about how much he hates each movie. Is there anything he likes? I much prefer the episodes which do not include him. Listening to him makes the podcast tedious, which is sad because I LOVE Morbid and The Rewatcher.
sad it’s so hard to listen to as they have a couple interesting episodes others don’t like Spooky Godmother, but man, the guy here may be the most pretentious douche bag i’ve ever heard.
I haven’t listened to a Hellraiser episode since the 2nd or 3rd which means I’ve only listened to 1 ep in the past few months! Come on, give us some variety in between them! Thanks Ash for your picks!
This podcast has some good moments but also has cringe moments. They feel like they took a improv class and aren’t funny enough to do comedy so they did this podcast. Dead stream podcast and he’ll house are great examples of this. The woman are funny and the guy tends to try too hard. But also heard someone call homeless people enhouse? It’s like they didn’t get, they are the guy from dead steam in all ways as they make fun of him
I have to say, I love ALL THREE of the hosts! I think they each add such fun and unique perspectives to each movie review. I love how Alaina narrates in such a thorough way, I find myself cracking up anytime Caleb makes a joke and Ash, well, she’s the wild card who will drop a great one liner one minute and a deep, insightful truth bomb in another. I look forward to listening and this is def one of my ‘comfort’ podcasts that I can enjoy again and again.
I found this show through Ash and Alaina’s Rewatcher podcast. I like these girls a lot and I’m interested in horror movies, so I was excited. Caleb is extremely off-putting. In the few episodes I’ve listened to, he has: proudly made a bit out of being unprepared to record and repeatedly derailing the discussion as a result, he has admitted to being repeatedly called out for misogyny (at which point Ash and Alaina rather tepidly assured him he is not a sexist), and just a moment ago he told a story that he seems to find hilarious about how he destroyed all of his brother’s possessions. I don’t want to get too mean but suffice to say that I don’t feel he brings a level of comedy or critique that would help me to look past his vibe, which in general isn’t something I want to spend time with.
5/5 with amazing and fun reviews BUT PLEASE make more episodes or time just flies but sometimes y’all take a long time to make a new episode and I sleep to these so…. Okay well. Also you guys r still the best podcast
Gets a little too much hate in the reviews. And when y’all hate on him, he thrives off of it so he’s not going to change for y’all. You either like the dynamics or you don’t. I personally love that all 3 of them are on it and I get bummed when one of them is missing. However! Why why WHY the continuous Hellraiser recaps?! I know there’s so many of them but I feel like every other show should be a different movie. A good one, actually. I shouldn’t even say a “good” horror movie because yeah they are hard to come by but the others have been bleh. I thought the Thankskilling review was actually funny but overall I wish for more variety. I think the Halloween remake would be good. Or a cult classic like Trick’r Treat. Evil Dead, both the OG and remake? I would LOVE to hear Caleb’s take on the movie M3GAN. Still love you all and I’m going to listen but just give us some flavor!
I like this podcast and I love Caleb and Alaina but I feel like Ash tries too hard to be funny and it stops being about the horror movie and turns into the ash show… I hope this doesn’t sound too harsh and it’s not that I dislike Ash, because I think everyone should be them selves. It’s the only reason I can’t give it 5 stars but I do love the movies Ash chooses.
I love Ash and Alaina. I’m addicted to Morbid and the Rewatcher. So when I discovered this podcast I was excited!
This podcast does not need Caleb sadly. Half of the time it seems like he didn’t even watch the movie they are talking about. I’m sure he is a great guy but he just adds nothing but annoyance to the show.
after thinking maybe it was a fluke at first, I’ve come to the conclusion Caleb ruins the show. He’s absolutely insufferable and his meltdowns ick.
If it wasn’t for the girls, it would be a zero star.
My boyfriend is intensely happy with this podcast we have to listen to in the car apparently every time he drives. Ash and Alaina are funny, but that Caleb is one insufferable human being.
Another reviewer questioned whether he graduated high school. He often speaks with little authority, and gets caught making facts up - until he gets corrected, then he finds some dumb excuse.
He complains like he’s got sand up his asscrack. I look forward to him spiting out a pearl, because he’s so irritating he can’t help himself.
Please tell Caleb to get another gig.
I used to like this podcast more until the obsession with Hellraiser and Caleb purposely picking bad movies. I feel like there used to be more diversity in movie picks so I could bounce around with episodes but now they’ve kind of isolated many listeners. Ash and Alaina are fun and they remind me a lot of my sister and I discussing horror movies. I can’t with Caleb. He is problematic and annoying.
I started with listening to morbid with Alaina and Ash and loved their dynamic from the start and then got into this afterwards and was introduced to Caleb and I gotta say… in the reviews I’ve read everyone is so harsh about Caleb and I wonder why because I think he’s pretty hilarious he’s got my type of humor and I got into his other show horror soup also. All in all though the three of them together I’d say is a great duo and they give me laughs when I need it.
Usually a good balance of discussion, research, and review. The hosts are friendly and educated, relatable and well-spoken. I smile so big every time Alaina & Ash speak in unison. Their connection is so heart warming and Caleb’s presence is noticeable and inoffensive.
I was genuinely laughing at The Strangers episode with Ash and her defense mechanism of staying alive! I love everyone’s chemistry, makes me feel like I’m there with you guys! Keep up the great work! ♥️
I came here from morbid and love ash and Alana but I can’t with Caleb. It’s the way he complains about every movie that Alana has had him watch. I’m on the hocus pocus episode and there is nothing positive come out of his mouth. I know he is trying to be funny it doesn’t come off that way at all. It’s the constant bashing of the actors. They way they look, the way he is negative about the place they are filming and soo much more and it’s not just this episode and the sexual jokes are just cringy. I want to give it a chance and see what it’s like with ash on the show but my expectations are not that high. Caleb’s personality is horroable. I can’t put into words how much he bothers me.
It’s usually the podcast I listen to when I am out of podcasts. I like some of the movies they talk about and sometimes they say something funny. Alaina is my favorite because she doesn’t try too hard to be funny. Wish they chose better movies
So as someone who was a loyal Morbid Fan and gave Scream a shot bc I already enjoyed Alaina and Ash, I really feel awful saying this, but I wish Sream would return to the Alaina & Caleb format. Ash seems to be struggling with focus and staying in topic. She tends to interrupt or talk over others or laugh at her own jokes for what seems like forever. It’s making this Podcast as hard to follow as Morbid has been lately bc I think Alaina gets sucked into the tangents and sideboards and then I end up skipping 30 minutes worth of the podcast trying to follow the case amidst the banter. I really love the Hellraiser series Caleb and Alaina started. The episodes stayed on point, focused on discussing the film with a reasonable amount of the hosts two cents and back and forth. But I could barely listen to the episode about the Strangers. Like, I laughed the first time Ash said she would crap herself in fear and that might help her survive being a slasher victim. But then when it comes up multiple times and she’s laughing loudly and continuing to distract from the case and going on a tangent…. That’s just an example I feel like the Morbid girls have spread themselves too thin, especially Ash, between all their podcasts, Scream, The Rewatcher, and Morbid all the podcasts are suffering
Listening to him drone on and on about Deena “being an incel” on Fear Street 1994 made me want to turn the podcast off. The other two understand. If you’re a male, please don’t speak to how women are in a relationship and then go on to say a boyfriend threatening to kill said girl isn’t such a bad guy. That ain’t it.
Is the girl hanging upside down doing the Heather Matarazzo bit from Hostel 2? This is one of my favorite things to listen to when I’m getting high. My cat gets super lovey dovey when I’m listening to you guys, I don’t know why.
I absolutely love listening to this podcast. Love Ash and Alaina and the banter between the two. It’s like listening to Morbid but about movies. Unfortunately, Caleb has such a rudimentary knowledge of horror movies and what seems to me to be a basic understanding of the English language. Did he finish high school? Each epsiode is filled with incorrect references, mispronunciations of filmmakers, movies, actors, movie characters, and just a complete lack of anything horror related. I am shocked this dude has as many podcasts as he does. Ash and Alaina don’t seem to be the type of people that would reinforce this type of behavior in a person. I’ve seen the way he acts on his other podcasts. Just a loser in a beanie and poncho with a microphone. It’s an absolute chore to listen to his so called “musings” when it comes to the movies picked for this podcast. Every time he speaks … I cringe. Ash and Alaina if it weren’t for you, this podcast would be garbage just like HorrorSoup. Two stars… one for Ash and one for Alaina.
It’s hard for me to properly rate this podcast, because while I have nothing but respect for the podcast and all 3 hosts, I don’t actually like the podcast very much. I’ve seen a lot of reviewers state that they enjoy the podcast because they love horror movies. Well I feel quite the opposite, I don’t care for this podcast very much because I LOVE horror movies. I definitely have a deep appreciation and love for “bad” horror movies, they’re the best! So for me, this podcast is really just three people who I generally really enjoy, just crapping all over movies that I truly love. Everyone is of course entitled to their own opinion, and can dislike whatever they want, it just takes away the joy of listening for me when the they are taking movie after movie that I adore, and talking endlessly about what trash garbage they are. It’s really disheartening and hard to listen to. I still give the podcast 4 stars, because the reasoning that I have for not liking it does not actually mean it’s a bad podcast, just that it’s not my personal taste. Love all three hosts though!
The dynamic between these three is amazing! They have explained many times that they go out of their way to mess with each other and goad their fake arguments. It’s obvious (at least to me) that this is all in good fun for them. Caleb is the big horror film buff, Ash is here for the fun, and Alaina is right in the middle. They play they’re parts perfectly. Together they give hilariously entertaining reviews of movies and cool deep dives into horror sub genres. Half these reviews seem like they’re Morbid fans who just can’t handle someone disagreeing with Ash and Alaina. I get it the girls rock, but Caleb genuinely holds movies accountable for their flaws and gives real criticism… what’s the point of a review podcast if every episode is “that was good.” My only complaints is that I wish they did all genres of movies and more episodes cause I could listen to them all day.
