As a fan of New Order and Joy Division, hearing all these stories and how the music came together has been wonderful. It’s been great going through all the early days and going through each album one by one.
I've been listening to and reading about Joy Division and New Order since I was a teenager, and still learned some things from this podcast. It is also nice to hear the members of the band speaking themselves, in addition to many of their contemporaries in music. If you like the band(s) you will probably enjoy this podcast.
Transmissions” offers a fascinating deep dive into the history of Joy Division and New Order. The podcast blends insightful interviews, archival footage, and rich storytelling, making it perfect for both longtime fans and newcomers. A must-listen for anyone who loves these iconic bands!
That omission doesn’t really warrant a full star deduction but I could not give it 4.7 stars.
Great interviews. I’m sure I will listen to the whole thing again.
Must listen for any JD & NO fan! But a great listen for anyone interested in the history of music.
In the words of another legendary Manchester band, “Please please please let me get what I want.” More episodes!!!
A fascinating dive into how much influence two punk/new wave bands had on music today. Historic interviews are woven with modern love stories of the band and it is truly addicting. I can’t stop listening!
When I first started listening to New Order in the early 80s, they were shrouded in mystery. It’s fascinating to hear their story directly from them, and from those close to them. And it’s a great reminder how truly great they were—and are.
I’m a huge New Order fan and this podcast is like a weak Wikipedia page. It’s difficult to know who is speaking. Why is there an entire episode about the Hacienda and then it jumps back to Power, Corruption and Lies? Whole podcast is too broad stroked for me.
2020 is another year gone by we wont hear New Order play Lonesome Tonight, Way of Life, Run, Vicious Streak, Face Up live in concert - but at least this Podcast will tide us over in the meantime.
Very well done interviews cut with narration to drive the story. Best of all clips of songs to demonstrate what each conversation is about are found throughout. I can never get enough Joy Division/New Order, highly recommend!
