Reviews For How It Happened

Episode 2 of the Musk/Twitter season cites California OSHA data to make a point about teslas safety record. “Tesla has three times more safety violations in that period than all the other car manufacturers combined”. Wow that’s a dramatic figure! I could hardly believe it. Then after just a moment of scrutinizing that in my head I realize that it’s because Tesla is the ONLY car manufacturer mass producing vehicles in California. Whoever looked up that data clearly knew that it was poor data to use and misleading and yet they still put it in the episode. When I listen to reporting I want to be able to relax and learn. I don’t want to feel like I need to scrutinize everything I hear so I’m not mislead. Unacceptable.
All our media does is say nice things about these wildly rich and irresponsible people. It would have been better to release nothing than this, poorly fact checked particularly with his background. This is genuinely really saddening, I had always looked at Axios as more objective than this. You will be worse informed after listening to this podcast
…though compelling, too much weight was given to Musk’s personality, behaviors and thinking skills through episode 5. I wanted to hear your financial expert’s take on how Musk can possibly make Twitter profitable at the $44b purchase price. Will he and the banks see a return on their investment? This is fundamental to Twitter’s existence. If he can’t make money, nothing else matters.
Favorite (in all his previous stories as well)has been Jonathan Swan, the Maggie Haberman of Axios but with a different slant.. but am really enjoying the ins and outs of Elon Musks vs Twitter coverage.. was looking forward to the trial but anticipate the recent takeover drama / immediate changes made …if this will be part of final podcast.
Did Musk pay you do this series?
This is beautifully narrated and wonderfully scripted and interesting. How often are these episodes released?
In the last few years Axios has turned out Credible, thoughtful well resourced Journalism that is still great fun to read because it’s so well written
Great coverage, but PayPal is full of scammers. Not sure why the speed is rabbit-fast, but it’s cool I guess 👀
More pro-Elon Musk propaganda is exactly what America needs right now! Thank you, Axios!
Dear AXIOS, I’m a new listener. Thank you for the the good job of reporting. I specially liked hearing about your “”Listener bill of rights / Audience bill of rights””. I think that’s a concept you should repeat on your program now and then. Specially in these times when there seems to be a serious erosion and attacks on the truth and lack of accountability. Everyone is in titled to their own opinions. But not in titled to their own set of facts. Thank you for what you do. TKU for your commitment to the truth and be accountable for your accurate reporting of the facts. We the audience will hold you to your promise. John the scorpion guy
Who wants to hear anything from such a closed-minded and ignorant person?
Trump was a provocateur sent to increase tribalism, demonized dissent and destroy domestic tranquility. His obnoxiousness was by design. The tell was when he was running and people were protesting corporate tycoons running for president- he said “ get him punch him in the face”- text book provocateur. He wasn’t fighting the elites, he was working for them, a reality tv star, a provocateur playing the role of a president.

Liberal lens too opaque for unbiased reporting. Move on, unless you’re a liberal soy.
Updating my review to account for all seasons: Season 1 (Jonathan Swan): Fantastic. Riveting and engaging. Couldn’t wait for the next episode. Swan is a great storyteller. Season 2 (Miriam Kramer): Complete bore. I didn’t even listen to the last episode of this season because the others were so terrible. Getting through this season was a chore and definitely not worth my time. Season 3 (Barak Ravid): Great “season” if you can call it that. Only two episodes? Why? Too bad - I enjoyed Barak. Season 4 (Dave Lawler): Had high expectations for this season because the Ukraine/Russia story is one I’ve been following closely. Unfortunately, Dave isn’t all that engaging. Good story, not so good host. Wish it was Swan.
The Axios team is superb. Great reporting, neutral analysis.
Story telling to support leftist agenda.

Love the deep dive into topics.
It is CNN style view, please do your research.
Weird logo - all I see is a tampon. 🧐
Jonathan Swan is an amazing, thoughtful interviewer and an incredibly insightful, thought-provoking analyst.
I binged the first season and found it to be really well written and hard to put down. Looking forward to the second season!
Season 2 was great. A very nice, human, story of Inspiration4.
I’m continually seeking unbiased journalism and it doesn’t exist here. This podcast is an ocean of opinions and “fill in the gap” conclusions surrounding small islands of truth. Unfortunately, they spend most of their time connecting dots with their own, biased notions of “why” as a means to build a bridge between two points of fact. It is an interesting listen. But only for those seeking more confirmation bias.
Par for the course with Axios which loves itself some access journalism.
Hard to believe the hard hitting podcast giving fascinating behind the scenes details by the superb Jonathan Swan was handed over for the puff piece of a PR job. What an embarrassment and has sullied what could have been an awesome brand in podcasts.
Because the 1st season was amazing and he’s one of my favorite reporters, I’m rating this 5 stars. But the 2nd season and contrast between stories is….. subpar at best. Given the current state of the world, you couldn’t find anything besides the how the “we don’t pay taxes” guys are “into” space most civilians will never access in their lifetimes?
This podcast reveals the line from Election Day through January 6insurrection. I hope Jonathan updates this podcast with the newest evidence uncovered by Jan. 6 commission.
Brilliant reporting by Jonathan Swan. He was very meticulous in his reporting, I was on the edge of my seat the entire podcast.
Good episodes.
Absolutely brilliant
Brilliant reporting by Jonathan Swan - I wish there were more episodes about this most horrible and disturbing time - the podcasts were absolutlely fascinating.
I finally have the mental and emotional space to listen to this. When it was all happening, it was so confusingly incredible, it was hard to take in. Listening to this months after the events, it’s providing a highly credible picture of how and why Trump fueled the conspiracies about the election.
Thus was fascinating. I wish there were more episodes !
Love the detailed storytelling of this series, and I hope to hear more reporting by Jonathan Swan - hopefully on something other than Trump.
I am now going to listen to it again because there is so much rich detail, I am sure I missed some. Great historical telling.
Elegant analysis of Trump’s last days by Swan who does an outstanding job of describing a delusional and dangerous president’s last days in office. Swan is excellent! I hope he does more like this. I listened to all a second time. Fascinating!
The GOP traitors have fallen into line, almost 100%. The Bie Lie is fully revealed, beyond the “election fraud.” What a disgusting shame.
Very fast, riveting listen. Jonathan Swan likely nails what happened in the closing days of the 45th POTUS’s time in office. A good look into the insanity of the situation and the final breaking of the spell 45 had over many of his minions. I’m going to listen again. There’s a lot here.
Great insight of the most delusional president in U.S. history!! Thnxs Jonathan
This podcast is awesome. Well narrated, and really does give the inside Intel on what we all saw unfold publicly, and couldn’t wrap our heads around. This fills in all the blanks. Excellent job!!
This podcast is excellent !!! Omg I’m loving it !
A short, but excellent limited series podcast about the last days of Trump’s presidency. The host, the reporting, and the music all kept me on the edge of my seat.
The truth, whether people can handle it or not.
He sounds intelligent and completely sane. I hope he does more podcast on other issues.
Jonathan has inside contacts & puts you in the room! He ask the questions we would if given the chance. Please continue to work those sources - Trump, his family & Administration did more damage in 4 years than most Americans can ever imagine 😡. Shine a light on it so it NEVER happens again.
Simply the best thing I have listened to since I began listening to podcasts.
There is no denying how interesting Trump is. I couldn’t stop listening.
Jonathan Swan risks his sanity by delving behind the scenes swirling around Trump from Election Night through the January 6th insurrection. This is the history that needs to be engraved on the American historical record showing how crazy conspiracists were driving all of us to the brink of destruction...where in fact, the MAGA insurrectionists took over the asylum. This on-going horror story will continue to play out until the GOP is burned at the political stake.
This is a well sourced, well told, recount of the events that led first to November 3, then to January 6. One stars are people who don’t live in reality and who want to ply pretend as though their ideology is above criticism. They’re not Americans, they’re fascists, this is a spectacularly done investigative podcast about the people at the highest levels of the former presidents inner circle, what they did, and how all their and his actions contributed to the insurrection on January 6. Don’t find solace in the fact that we averted it, find fuel for making sure this NEVER happens again. Fascism arrived, draped in the flag and carrying a Bible, it will come again... next time it may not be as incompetent. We got the fascist out of power and averted descending into fascism, but the elements remain, the actors remain, and the environment remains. It isn’t going anywhere, so we can’t either.
