Yeah listened to the origins. Comics are a way to escape this world politics issues and race all of that. Listening to this one really didn’t enjoy it. Politics has crept into everything keep it out of marvel.
If you are a fan of Marvel comics and movies, you will love this amazing podcast. Lorraine and Evan delve into the characters backstories. The guests they bring on and their stories are fantastic! I though I had a good knowledge of these characters but after listening to the first season, I view these characters in a new light. It’s absolutely incredible!
Info covered in the podcast is interesting to sure I guess but across all 11 episodes the hosts do a very poor job. I get they are perhaps friends/bare minimum trying to make the podcast “fun” but many times their sing-songy jokey patter comes across as very fake and unnecessary. Just give me the information promised without the banter. Also does not help that female hosts voice is all over the place level wise and male hosts voice is very mumbly and low. So either send them both to some seminar to fix their vocals and make them sound and present more professionally or replace them. My guess is neither of these options will be picked which is fine but I guarantee you other people have issues with the sing songy style of talking and waay too much cross talk

THE GOOD: This is an enjoyable and informative listen. Their audio quality is first rate and are covering a range of subjects including comic history, character deep-dives (the Hulk episode was particularly thoughtful), and how this content relates to the broader context of the real world.
THE MIXED: Unlike most comic podcasts, the two hosts don't just have an impromptu conversation — its meticulously prepared. This has its pros and cons: at times, it feels VERY scripted to the point where its apparent the hosts are reading from a script. Scripted podcasts can be great — (This American Life, 99% Invisible) and the hosts have charisma — but I hope the producers will give them a little more latitude to incorporate more natural "off-script" moments.
THE DISAPPOINTING: A listener should realize that this is officially-sanctioned content produced by the parent company and sometimes the tone feels a bit like it was composed by a PR department rather than unbiased experts of the comics medium. While I certainly don't expect (or want) any hit-pieces; the always-sunny view of Marvel's history feels a bit artificial — and certainly not worthy of the name "Declassified." Also, not acknowledging the existence or the impact of other publishers (apart from one mention Action Comics #1) removes necessary context to fully understand some of the history-focused episodes they create. I hope future episodes can do better.
I’m a lifelong broadcaster/podcaster and the execution of this podcast is top notch. The writing, the production quality, the use of audio, the guest interviews and the hosts are all fantastic. Oh, and it’s also incredibly informative, insightful and entertaining. Big props to everyone involved, I hope to listen to this show for a very long time!
Love the podcast. Reminds me of going to a museum and getting small informative movies about history. Great show and great way to cover Marvel history!!!
As a HUGE fan of the Marvel movies, this show really helps satisfy my Marvel addiction in between movies and the TV shows. Plus, it’s great to learn where a lot of these characters and stories come from. It’s wild to think that some of these major theater blockbusters started out as a comic with zero intention to hit the big screen. Not only that, but there’s so much more to Marvel than the movies! Best of all, it’s super easy to get into if you’re a casual fan. There aren’t any crazy barriers to entry or gatekeepers preventing someone from enjoying this show like a lot of the other podcasts out there. LOVE IT!! Can’t wait for more!!
