God bless Pogue. He has the knowledge of a nerd but the lifestyle of a normal quirky guy. You'll come back because his persona, but you'll follow his articles because he knows what he's doing & he's passionate about it.
Other NYTimes reviewers and columnists attempting video podcasting could learn from the class clown in the next cubicle...
Even for those who know already stay up to date on technology can appreciate these David Pogue's reviews because they are insightful and he has a knack for understanding what most consumers want, making his point of view more useful than many technology columnists. Also, I appreciate the high quality video (640x480 resolution) rather than the typical 320x240 or flash based video embedded on websites now.
Pogue narrates his weekly technology column with an elocution to match his famous wit. This podcast is both funny and informative; my only complaint is that it only comes once a week.
This is as good as it gets as far as podcast. David Pogue has a real way with words when reviewing technology. If you haven't already, watch his videos.
Leo Laporte often refers to David Pogue. They are both of the same ilk and as good as it gets. Intelligent, cutting-edge and yet understandable by all. Thanks.
Pogue's tech writing is informative, well written and even entertainingly funny. His podcasts are even funnier than his books and columns because he's a good public speaker with a good sense of timing and tone.
Overall I'd recommend this podcasts because he researches his subjects well, he doles out praise and criticism where they're deserved and he knows how to speak clearly and to the point. As a bonus he does all that while also being whimsical and engaging. This is easily the best of the dozen or so technology podcasts to which I've tried.
The best thing about the NYT website is "Crazy Davey" (see his digital camera review video where he channels Crazy Eddie in bravura style). Great to have the columns in podcast form.
