The first season was good, it gets worse. Too many tropes, modern politics, just plain dumb stuff. Why make all these stories in “hard places”, “ hard times”, and with “hard people” so soft? Storytellers disconnected from the reality of the world, the emotions, and experiences they try to recreate and no actual desire to do the work to gain meaningful insight.
Being FTP I loved the first season. I liked the second season a lot. Listened to all three with diminishing anticipation. Definitely a worthwhile podcast with a solid story line, it just got a little bit watered down as it went on. I recommend overall and would listen to a forth season however the content would need to be more in volume and quality than the commercials.
This feels like it was written by a twelve year old girl who tried to put her own spin on plagiarizing the Star Wars story. The idea seems interesting at first but it is so poorly executed. There is no feeling in it and the interactions between characters who have not seen each other in years is beyond unrealistic. But hey the author does beat us over the head with female power and men bad politics at every turn so there’s that. And hey the main bad guy is closeted so he will of course be a main character moving forward who realizes the error of his ways. Blue politics so forced and unnecessary — skip.
I love this! It’s amazing. The storyline, the reading, the sound effects. It make you feel like you’re there. It fully deserves 5 stars and I wish so bad that I could give it that. However, there are some very big problems that I have with it. The first one is the way that it shoves liberal ideology down your throat. From the homosexual relationships where there is no need in the world for there to be any (in fact and sorry for the spoiler it got so annoying that I had to skip through the marriage scene at the end bc of how much they were trying to make homosexual marriages sound good. They were right to not have one earlier or I would have given a two star and stopped listening), to the way they kinda work the whole “industrial capitalists bad, new world order good” into the story so you don’t notice it unless you’re looking for it, and then whining about roe vs wade in the last few episodes which is a decision I know many people agree was good to overturn.
A more miner problem was the slight inconsistencies. For instance the move she learned in season two would have worked perfectly in season 3 for defence. It would have been much easier and more dramatic then the way they defended themselves. It and the Gatling gun like catch were my favourites Also there’s no way she could have lost her bullet catching skills in 1 year. It would have taken at least around 5 or more.
Besides those problems I loved the whole thing and I hope that the story continues only if it does I hope they find some way to kill Reynard and changes Niko from a homosexual to a man. A REAL man.
Great story, but the political subtext is forced and looses its effectiveness. It’s clumsily thrown into every situation and is unnatural. If the author wants to make a point on social commentary, it should be developed and natural instead of crammed in at every opportunity.
At first I wasn’t in to it, but I decided to listen to the first episode again and I was sold. I’m glad they made multiple seasons. The storyline isn’t predictable except that they always find a way to survive.
Fantastic show, looking back at the first season to where we are now in the third is crazy. Give me more western/sci-fi/fantasy please! Great characters and awesome plot.
I’ve always had a love for western movies. This drama is unlike anything I’ve ever seen before (Not surprising since it’s by Realm) The western ambient and sounds are on the point. The characters are really cool and the whole story is really refreshing. I also like the dark tower vibes and this have some of the best audio fiction drama
I have never written a review before. But this storyline was so well written I felt like I loved every character. I finished the whole thing in under a week because I just could not stop thinking about all the characters! Sad it’s over but will definitely listen again ❤️
One of my favorites. Anything that makes you yell at the radio with frustration or anger or happiness is a gem. Great job to the gal who voices the characters! My kids would love story time with you!!
LET’S GOOOOOO! I’m so exited, I was hooked on season 1, I love stories with combat, and this just blew me away! (Also realm team, if you really DO read all the reviews, could you mention my name in one of the upcoming episodes? It would mean the world to me like you don’t even KNOW!)
I was looking for a good fantasy podcast like beautiful lier or last known position. When I found this it gave me dark tower vibes. And how Niko died and Imma is the narrator is great. 👍🏼
Great story- from a first person perspective , which for some reason is the easiest to listen to in an audiobook for me. Can’t believe it took me so long to find realm
This podcast is the perfect combination of action, drama, imagery, world building, and characterization. All of the characters are complex, and the world is vast and vivid. I highly recommend.
The actress who reads all the characters is amazing. The atmosphere and effects is really cool, kinda like dark tower except with a female main character. I dig it.
I love this story. The way he goes into such detail in describing things is a true gift. I binge listened to this and am sad I’m almost done!! I’d love to hear more stories from this author.
This show is perfect. It's been a long while since I've found a drama/action story this good, a repeat listen definitely. The PLATONIC relationship between Imma and the Bullet Catcher ambushed my heart. Family, forgiveness, redemption are at the core. (For reference, my favorite shows are Motherhacker (both seasons), DUST: Chrysalis (season 3), Levar Burton Reads, and The Program. Oh, and 13 Days of Halloween.
I wasn’t sure I would like this but I was looking for something new to listen to and gave it a try. It’s so good. the story captured me right away. the acting is top notch and sound is excellent. Give it a try!
I don’t know why this isn’t more highly rated. The story is unpredictable, the acting is top notch, the characters are complex and likable and the sound effects immerse you in the story. I only wish the episodes came out faster!!
This podcast is soooooo well done! I love the plot, the soundtrack, EVERYTHING. One suggestion: make a special episode with just the soundtrack, loved the Bad Pines Shootout music, but couldn’t pay full attention to the music when I relish the episode for the 50th time. I would like to analyze the soundtrack and other elements, maybe some Inside The Episodes? I think it would be a great addition for tech nerds like me. Anyways love this podcast and I am always looking out for new episodes! Keep up the great work!
This is by far the best podcast I’ve ever listened to! The fact that bullet is niko is kind of obvious if you have seen a new hope/the empire strikes back, still a great podcast! Why is everyone so worked up about the fox blood
“Leave it there, Cub”. The narrator is excellent, she does a convincing Bullet Catcher and Bullet (Niko). I am really enjoying this series.
Yes, an animal lover, I was put off by the fox thing. But it was paralyzed, and so… I listened on.
Tune in!
