Loved this show! đ As someone who works in the women in politics space, I appreciated the historical details and modern perspective on Edith Wilson.
The creators of this podcast absolutely nail the balance between historical storytelling and charming, self-aware humor. I like audio dramas but it seems that they are all in the sci-fi/mystery/crime thriller arena, so this factionalized historical tale, was an amazing change and a real treat. Perfectly written and perfectly acted! I have listened to it twice and regularly check back to see if theyâre doing another season. Perhaps another episode from US history? Please?
I was re-listening to an episode of of Lovett or Leave It this evening and he played the first episode of Edith! I was hooked from the start- itâs funny, engaging, and has a great mix of history and comedy. Itâs very different from any other podcast Iâve come across and o hope they make more like it!
Like other reviews have said, this podcast is so unique in the sense that itâs the perfect blend of humor and history. The story is super compelling and interesting, while still maintaining the comedy. The voice acting is excellent, especially Rosamund Pike, which should come as no surprise. The script is fast paced and witty, and production wise itâs very well done. Love this podcast and would love to see more like it!
I was looking for some interesting history podcasts that were not about WWII and that were not super dry. Wow! This one hit the spot! Great acting, great writing, dry humor- I love for Edithâs snarky put downs and Trudyâs dorky one liners. Hope it goes past nine episodes. Just truly entertaining.
Great series!! If you like a little history, with a pinch of drama, and swirl in the comedy, then this is for you. Once wasnât enough so I played it all twice.
Absolutely enthralling. I adore Rosamund Pike and history, so it seemed obvious I would enjoy the podcast. However, I was blown away by all aspects of it. Well-acted, witty, wonderful.
I don't write reviews that often but I wanted to write this to thank the production team and anyone else behind making such a flawless masterpiece.
Sound work 10/10
Acting 10/10
Characters 10/10
Story 10/10
Ending 10/10
Hilarious, well written, well acted, and well produced. And educational, to-boot. Feels sadly relevant today. My 13 year-old daughter and I listened to it together and loved it.
I was just going to listen to a quick episode before bed and then couldnât put it down so-to-speak. Binged the whole thing! Rosamund and Esther are so charming and compelling. Excellent voice work all around including the always-hilarious Stephen Root. 5 stars on the writing and sound design!
Cast is outstanding! Script is not great. Dialogue seems farcical at times. This podcast is too realistic to be a spoof or a satire, but too cheesy and anachronistic to pass as historical fiction. Listened to the whole thing because I have lots of time on my hands, but wouldnât recommend this one to friends or family.
I started listening because it was listed under âad freeâ. Pretty sure none of the podcasts under that are actually ad free. I thought it would be a great way to advertise your podcast. To release a few ad free episodes. But itâs just a scam.
Premise seems interesting tho. Doesnât pull you in fast enough in the ten minutes before the second ad tho.
Brilliant execution. The journey Edith takes is so compelling that itâs honestly a bit jarring when things change. This is a masterclass in how to make an ending thatâs not really a twist feel like it is. The cast was fantastic, the story was gripping, and the two together makes me feel like I canât handle it if there isnât more. Give me a miniseries, you guys. Please?
Edit: I still adore this show, truly, which is why I subscribed to qcode in the first place. Besides listening again to the episodes Iâve already listened to and no ads (which donât bother me) there are no actual perks. I see no reason to keep subscribing at this point. Is there going to be anything extra that makes the subscription worth it?
Trudie is so funny and cute, and her friendship with Edith was beautiful. The ending gave me the feels, I cried.
Thanks for an amazing production, Crooked Media!!
I was legit sad when this podcast was over. Loved the characters, the plot line, the intrigue. I really enjoyed Trudyâs transformation. Listen to this podcast⌠itâs very enjoyable.
I highly enjoyed this audio drama boasting a talented voice cast, engaging plot, and complicated characters. Honest and creative âcould have beenâ history. Humorous with an unexpected, but moving challenge to its audience.
Iâm mostly unimpressed when it comes to comedy podcasts, but this pod made me laugh every episode. Felt like I was was watching a tv show, and could picture the characters in each setting, despite just listening. Well done!!
This show is interesting, if anachronistic, and incredibly well produced. But some of the hokey voice acting really does me in 𤢠I almost crashed my car when Esther Povitsky was pretending to be drunk, just to stop listening
