Love love love this podcast. Ari is an excellent investigative reporter and the team does so well putting their stories together. One of my favorite Podcast listens.
Well-researched and engaging podcast! As a long time gymnastics fan, I’m so impressed with the show’s insights and behind the scenes reporting. Highly recommend!
5am. Couldn’t sleep. Found it. Started and didn’t stop until I listened to the whole 1st season. I’m grateful they made this series for us, thank you! As a child gymnast, the topic interested me. And as a parent of an elite athlete, ditto. The series is interesting and thorough, and the injustices stick with me still.
Fact driven and detail oriented with interesting information as well as insightful opinions from Ari the host. He is very knowledgeable and you can tell he does his research and is very fair in his conclusions. I love that he stays on topic, and has a nice voice as well!
I’ve listened to every episode and have learned so much. It’s the kind of journalism I love: the kind that takes a subject you may know in passing and then hits you with the depth that compels you to listen to he next episode.
As a skating and gymnastics fan recently discovered this podcast thanks to Ari appearing on Gymcastic- learning a lot in the 4 episodes I have listened to. Great journalism
Just listened to to Rebbecca Andrade’s story with my daughter who is a gymnast and had two ankle breaks and surgeries this year. Truly inspiring to hear Rebecca’s story. Thank you for telling it!
I really enjoyed the storytelling on this recent episode! I enjoyed all of the interviews, the history and how the host wove in her personal story as well. Very captivating — I forwarded to some friends. Keep up the good work!
As a long-time figure skater the critique of gender conformism, racism, homophobia in skating is so necessary (and long overdue). Ageism, ableism and fat-shaming are also prevalent. Thanks for addressing these questions in a thoughtful way.
I was thrilled to see the second season pop up! An an avid follower of the Olympics, I remember all of what they talk about. It’s so interesting to get this insider perspective. Thank you so much for this awesome podcast!
This podcast offers exceptional, high quality story. It is not just for gymnastics and figure skating fans—the sports are a lens into wider culture. Thanks to the creators
This is such an interesting podcast! I learned so much about behind the scenes of the Olympic gymnastic world. Ari Saperstein is an amazing host! What a fantastic investigative journalist/podcaster. Keep up the great work!
I binged this podcast because I had no idea about what went on in the background at the Olympics in gymnastics . The lack of safety measures was alarming and underscores the point that the people at the top are not always your protectors. Please keep making these informative podcasts about subjects that are rarely written about
Giving these stories a voice after all these years hopefully brought some consolation for something so unfixable. Appreciate the quality effort put into bringing this out into the world.
I loved everything about this podcast -the story itself, which I wasn't at all familiar with, despite at least some familiarity with Olympic gymnastics, the production, the writing, the editing, the narration and interviews. Huge thanks to everyone involved. One of my all time favorite podcasts.
Despite Khorkina’s megalomania and gross contemporary public commentary re: abuse, I’m still not over what happened at the 2000 Olympics and think about her yelling about that springboard regularly.
I love how this show threads the needle between the global dysfunction of gymnastics culture (athletes LAST!) and the ineptitude and hypocrisy of the FIG. It’s certainly clear that USAG modeled themselves in the FIG’s image.
I stumbled on this podcast by serendipity. After listening to the first five minutes I was hooked. The show is well thought out and very professionally presented. Kudos to all involved!
Well told story about the all around gymnastics competition at the Sydney Olympics. A story that needed to be told. I feel for the competitors. They were robbed of a real competition.
