Reviews For Freakonomics, M.D.

This show is interesting on so many levels and I like listening with my wife who is a nurse.
Love the cross section of economics and medicine—we need more of this! Dr Jena explains data so well, AND has a warm engaging personality. WIN WIN
Love the deep dives they do - would recommend to anyone!
I’ve been listening to the show since the start and have been thoroughly impressed. I’m not in health care but I’ve found that I can relate to all the topics. A mix of cleverness and importance. Looking forward to more!
Full disclosure - I make my living doing the same sort of analysis the author does in his podcasts, and have a strong belief in the ability of statistics to identify trends in data otherwise invisible. However, I think the value of this podcast is minimal to me. The elephant in the room is the trillion dollar question of why the cost of healthcare in the US is double that of other nations with equivalent quality. What we need is the author to apply his very impressive specialized skill set to this problem, and take action to realize a solution. This is our true public health crisis, not the issues that he brings up. I think he misses the forest for the trees.

How the doctors connect the dot and arrive at a plausible diagnosis and treatment and follow ups . Great to listen

Well worth my time.
Dr Bapu has an engaging style based on sound scientific principles in both medicine and economics. He, or people with the same salience, should be driving healthcare policy at every level of government!
Please please please keep it as a monthly rotation of sorts, there isn’t anything like it out there and it was so interesting
Having a doctor Who cares about economics and people is awesome. Keep on podcasting
I’ve been a long-time fan of Freakonomics and I was thrilled to see a medical-focused version. And it lives up to its promise! I love it.
Why has it taken so long for a podcast of this quality and about this content to come along? I love healthcare economics and Dr. Babu is fantastic and this show has amazing insight and i can’t wait for the next insights!

We need experts now more than ever.
Dr Bapu has such a soothing voice. He raises such thought provoking questions. I’m loving the first few episodes.
This is my favorite podcast to listen to when I have some cycles to actually think - Dr. Jena is witty, personable, and incredibly insightful. I’ve read some of his research in the past so I’m familiar with the type of work he does (and have seen his TedX talk), but the way he narrates his insights in the form of stories on the podcast is particularly engaging. If you’re interested in medicine, science, or just clever ideas in general, it’s worth a listen.
I’m always looking for more podcasts to add to my list and this is my newest “edutainment” one! The length of episodes is a little short (only 2 episodes published so far), but I have high expectations for the future! Not as “MD” as I thought it would be, which is a positive in my opinion.
C’mon. Would like more substance and less “look at me” with my M.D. and Econ PhD. Many physicians have dual credentials. Get to the point Doc and less about you.
Dr. Jena brings a new lens to Freakonomics listeners that opens up a whole new lane of thought. Enjoying every minute!

Very informative and insightful. Thanks for this podcast!
Interesting topics, and Bapu is a great and engaging host.
maybe even better than the original!
Love the host’s charisma and the link between COVID and birthdays was so clever!
Super interesting - read about this in NYT and was great to hear the story behind the research. Bapu is great and Looking forward to more!
Great show. Medicine in the USA is such a big business we should definitely have more MD economists!
Please consider the nutritional and exercise factors for a multi diseased senior male including diabetes opiate constipation, heart diseases, copd, asthma, hearing loss, atypical trigeminal neuralgia which includes the oxyContin and gabapentin, severe sleep apnea… thank you Mike Starry Fresno California
Enjoyed the show overall, but it was no freakonomics. Feels a bit too much like that reed hoffman show sometimes in terms of production. Host also made a weird body shaming joke about his buddy’s height- idk if it was supposed to be funny, but it just felt juvenile and a weird choice in this day and age.
The style is engaging, the substance is easy to follow. Classic Freakonomics applied to medical economics/economics of medicine. My new favorite podcast!
Dr. Jena sense of humor while discussing meaningful topics is an awesome combination!
