I listen to these lovely ladies while cleaning cat cages at work. The episodes make me laugh so hard sometimes that my boss while come check on me and jokingly inform me that I’m “upsetting the other cat rooms”. I feel like I do that anyway, but who knows…. I came here from Midge’s youtube page and I absolutely love this podcast. I already loved Midge from her channel and I quickly fell in love with Penny too after listening to a couple episodes. I love these women’s humor and style of podcasting. It is such a joy to share a love of spooky things year round and I look forward to every episode. In the most dramatic way possible, this podcast makes me feel like life is worth living. 10/10.
This might be my all time favorite podcast. I listen to every episode the day it comes out. Midge and Penny are the perfect mix of spooky and fun. They manage to bring levity to their scary subject matter, and they do a fantastic job of speaking respectfully about dark topics. I really appreciate that they make the podcast feel like an inclusive space for queer and bipoc representation in the spooky community. My only complaint is that I wish the episodes were longer. I never get tired of listening to my best ghoul friends!
Listening to your podcast is the perfect inspiration anytime. I listen while working on my art and design. They say - do not meet your heros but definitely do with these two! Just as lovely in person when I ran into you in Salem, MA recently. So appropriate. I meant to mention at the time I used to work in museums having studied art history and even worked with a bones archaeologist. So when I blurted out how the catacomb podcast was so fun & interesting with no context and you didn’t skip a beat, I was so relieved. I do appreciate the artistry and care that goes into historical sites like that - many you talk about in your podcasts. I discovered this podcast because of a Fb Halloween group suggestion. More often than not,I barely make it a few minutes into most podcasts,as my tolerance level is rather low😆I instantly loved Penny & Midge. They have wonderful chemistry & great voices. It's truly like listening to friends. While I sometimes feel old when they discuss things they enjoyed in school (meanwhile I was already grown & hanging in the goth industrial scene😬),I love the nostalgia & more often than not,I learn new things from them.

As I sit here fresh off of binging and finally catching up on all the episodes in the Ghouls Night In catalogue, I can’t stress enough just how much this has become one of my new favorite podcasts over the last year. I’ve followed Penny on IG for a long time, which is how I found the pod, and I was delighted to then also get to know Midge (and her amazing YouTube content!). Not only do the two cover the most interesting, spooky topics you could think of — but they do it with such great humor, charisma, and the most calming dulcet tones. It really is like listening to your best friends regale you with the most fascinating macabre thing they’ve heard every week, which is right up my alley. Probably the only podcast where I would definitely listen to episodes multiple times! All of this is to say, I can’t recommend it enough. 11/10 content. Giving them all their well-deserved (funeral) flowers! 💐

I’m not the type of person who typically leaves reviews for anything, good or bad, so I hope I can articulate just how delightful this podcast is! Penny and Midge are wonderful hosts who manage to strike an excellent balance between thoughtful research and fun banter. The topics from episode to episode are also super unique but still light in tone, so you can get your spooky fix without running into more disturbing or graphic material. I definitely recommend giving this podcast a listen, and if you’re wondering where to start, I HIGHLY recommend the Big Wolf on Campus episode! :D
This podcast is both spooky and lighthearted. As a spooky girl who gets scared hella easily, I finally found my people! I love listening to Midge and Penny banter about strange and unusual topics. They are both informative and so hilarious. This pod really makes you feel like you’re just hanging with your girlfriends…and as a new stay at home mom, that’s exactly what I need to combat the lonelies. I hope they continue making content for a long long time. :)

As a Halloween lover, I was ecstatic to learn about this podcast from Midge’s YouTube channel. And I have fallen in love with Penny with her soothing voice and weird topics as well. Every episode is super interesting and I love learning new things about the subtopics of my favorite holiday. I would have left a review sooner, but usually I listen while I’m grooming dogs and didn’t want to get my phone wet or hairy. Love this pod as much as platypuses love shrimp!
I’ve been a longtime follower of Penny and Midge across various social media platforms and was SO excited when they launched the pod! They got me through the end of grad school- for 30 minutes every week I would basically hide under my desk in my office and let them transport me to a wonderfully spooky, cozy, alternate dimension. Penny & Midge are the cool teenage cousins from my childhood: braver, funnier, smarter, more stylish, and a little fabulously darker than I could ever be but also generously willing to share their spooky escapades with a lightweight like me. I especially admire the sensitivity with which tough topics are addressed, like the homophobia or sexism endemic to the genre’s history.
