This is about inflating a threat that really isn’t there; Americans have no stake in this and it takes a lot of sophistry and bias-towards-action to argue that this affects US security in any way.
Very excited for the rest of the season. Trailer already has me hooked. Anyone interested in illicit activity, terrorism and criminal networks will likely enjoy listening to this, hosted by one of Washington’s top experts on the matter. 10/10 would recommend
In many formats - books, OpEds, congressional testimony, interactive maps — Dr Levitt has documented Hezbollah’s criminal activities. It’s great to see him add a podcast to this list.
Dr. Matthew Levitt has perhaps the deepest knowledge about Hezbollah of anyone in or out of government. He demonstrates in this podcast how the group’s political and military wings cannot be distinguished and indeed how the Hezbollah network spans the globe. He is a master of the group’s origins with Iran’s revolutionaries and the group’s close but sometimes vacillating ties with actors in Syria, Lebanon, and throughout the Middle East. Anyone interested in Islamist militancy, Middle East dynamics, and the discrete, targeted actions it will take to ensure American interests will want to subscribe to this profoundly informative, engaging podcast.
Matt Levitt is a brilliant scholar and excellent storyteller. This foremost Lebanese Hezbollah expert connects the dots of Hezbollah’s covert activities and brings us in on his years of research - keeping us on the edge of our seats along the way.
No one knows more about Hezbollah than Levitt—this podcast is long overdue. I use his interactive map and timeline frequently for my research, and it’s been a fantastic resource. Great trailer too.
Excited for The Golden Rule, a program which may very well lead to a cascade of podcasts focusing on non-state actor’s threats to national security and the global fight against terrorisim.
Levitt displays poise and mastery of the form in his podcast debut. A longtime expert on hezbollah, he brings his knowledge to the airwaves in a tight, well-packaged series.
I read Dr. Levitt’s book on Hezbollah and it’s full of details and really high-profile accounts. I hope he interviews some of those same people for the podcast.
Levitt and his team are def giving us some of their best coverage from years of tracking one of the world’s most interesting political and paramilitary organizations. Can't wait to listen to their whole program!
This is surely the best podcast out there for anyone who wants to learn about Hezbollah. Matt Levitt and his crack team of research assistants and interns have really hit the ball out of the park on this one. I hear there is going to be an episode on Mohammed Hamdar’s arrest in Peru which uses real audio clips from Peruvian news programs! I look forward to listening!
I follow Matt Levitt on Twitter and I swear he knows all things Hezbollah. I’m so glad he’s doing a podcast, more people need to know about this stuff. Like the trailer says, Hezbollah tries really hard to keep these activities hidden.
Matthew Levitt is a scholar/practitioner who has tracked Hezbollah in and out of government — in this terrific podcast, he brings to light the inner workings of a group the US government labeled the A-team of terrorists. At a time when we are distracted by so much, this eye-opening — and eye-popping — expose is a sober reminder of everything we can’t avoid in the Middle East.
Dr. Levitt consistently produces informative materials on Hezbollah that are insightful, engaging and easy to comprehend. Whether you’re an expert or a novice, this podcast is going to be a can’t-miss for everyone interested in the topic.
Dr Levitt is an ever expanding ocean of knowledge on Lebanese Hezbollah and I look forward to hearing more of his prescient analysis and compelling storytelling in “Breaking Hezbollah’s Golden Rule”.
