One and a half episodes in and I’m hooked. And, I honestly don’t love true crime. But this story is so compellingly sourced and produced I. Am. Hooked. Amazing intersection of technology and crime…treat yourself.
Carly does an exceptional job of informing about the tragic case, while making sure to bring the stories of the victims to light. I listened to each episode back to back, because I was so invested in the story and the way it was presented. She interviewed experts, as well as those touched by the crimes, and clearly did an incredible amount of research….all of which is brought together with compassion and an obvious desire to bring justice to those who deserve it. I give this podcast my highest recommendation.
I absolutely love this podcast! I was completely drawn in from the first episode. The interweaving of compelling narrative and personal connection with case-based information and detail keeps the listener interested and wanting more. As far as true crime, this was an enormous case to tackle and discuss, and it was done with deft and incredible compassion. I love that Carly talks openly about the issues of equity and how they affect populations along lines of race, gender, and socioeconomic status in relation to getting answers from law enforcement.
I feel this particular lens is bold and refreshing, and I am excited to hear what comes next.
If you are at all interested in the compilation of data for profiling, this podcast is a must. Distilled down to cultural and psychological characterizations, we get to see and understand what drives the criminal. Is it convenience? Or methodical? Or one becoming the other? Notable resources and research- only wish that there weren’t so many victims so we could hear their individual stories.
If you love true crime podcasts, this one is a must! This case is so compelling (and infuriating). It’s also just a fascinating look at our justice system and how and why things can slip through the cracks. We need more people to be asking the questions that this podcast asks!
The amazing storytelling of these forgotten stories and bringing justice to these women is enough in itself to listen to this podcast. Add on the marvelous narration of Carly Roland and this is a must listen!!

A fascinating, evocative, and incredibly tragic crime narrative, that is so well-researched and -presented. The intersection of race, social class, gender, and violent crime in the US is horrifying. This production so well-illustrates the contributing macro social pathologies, while not losing track of the value of these women’s stories.
How does 51 women end up dead in Chicago? Well crime is insane in this beautiful city I call home, and this was back in the early 2000s, not the 2022 mess we have now. It’s absolutely heart breaking! I’m captivated by this story and this story is so well said!

Hooked so far and only just finished episode 2! The pace of the podcast along with the narrators voice makes it such an easy follow and intriguing listen. Can’t wait to hear more. Love podcasts that focus in one stories that I know very little about but then get me completely hooked! This is obviously such a sad and scary story but it’s real and the way in which it is being told starting with the first episode makes me want to keep on listening.
