On with Kara Swisher

Reviews For On with Kara Swisher

Good God, please edit out Kara’s myriad instances of “mmhmm”! This recent episode with Eric Idle was hard to get through because of it. Really distracting and unpleasant sound.
I’m liking the new show! Congrats to the team.
I struggled at first. It seemed they were going for a Pivot/Sway format and it was not working. Nayeema is not Scott and not sure she wants to be! As time has passed, seems they are finding their own rhythm. I’m glad I gave them time and llook forward to future episodes.
Like this pod…not as much as Pivot. Don’t like this annoying convo with Nayeema which seems unnecessary. You are better than this. She just asks questions and does not add anything to the conversation. Prof G is smart and incisive with lots of brilliant comments. This is girls trash talk.
I came to you through your interview with Chris Hayes recently and now I’ve subscribed and going backwards through you Episodes until I get to your first one and I’m loving all of them although my favorite so far is your interview with Chris Hayes.
Such a great show. Kara is awesome, and idk why everyone is being so mean to Nayeema.
Kara, it seems that you are In love with Elon Musk, it looks that you can’t stop taking about him.
Huge fan of Kara and loved Sway, but this new show isn’t it. Nayeema is obviously smart but her and Kara’s banter is cringey and uncomfortable. It seems to be an attempt to combine the Pivot and Sway formats but just ends up diluting both.
Kara is cranky and Nayeema is annoying. Let the Games begin!
We’ll do I have a podcast for you! Obviously this woman has clout. And can get real movers and shakers to talk. The good is that she’s got the guests and is not afraid to mix it up. The bad is that her push back is a little performative. And, regardless of the topic, it’s really just all about Kara. Without a doubt the most knowledgeable boomer on tech.
I don’t understand what Nayeema is trying to do. I don’t see the need for these goading questions that seem to be an attempt to rile a response from Kara. And the Elon/ Kara episode felt entirely forced.
She is very hard to listen to and adds nothing to the show. The constant mentions of Stanford and the valley girl accent are awful.
LOVE Kara . LOVE Pivot. LOVED Sway. “On” is not working for me. Rhythm of conversation seems awkard. Something about the chemistry btwn Kara and Nayeema is not right. Someone else described the interaction as “quippy games and light chatter.” Thats accurate. But it doesn’t fit Kara. “Quippy?” “light?” I dont think so. I resent a sidekick who tries to upstage Kara.
This show is almost unlistenable now.
Love, love Kara, and have listened to all of her podcasts religiously, but, apologies, I cannot stand the banter with her new cohost, and her voice is like nails on a chalkboard for me.
Omg, why so gravelly? Both women. Like nails on a chalkboard. Vocal fry has been outdone by this, & I don’t know what this even is. I tried, but no. Hard pass to save my ears from bleeding. Do they have something medically wrong with their vocal cords? Could be something legit & they can’t help it. If so, I’ll take this down with apologies. But I still can’t listen to it, which I’m sure is my loss. Show looks intriguing.
Overrated interviewer who compliments themselves constantly while saying “that’s interesting” about everything which reveals how lazy this show is done
I’ve listened to and admired Kara for years. This new format is refreshing. It’s nice to hear two intelligent women banter about the news for what feels like the first time (there are endless shows with men doing the same, but with less original takes). Nayeema’s perspective adds uniqueness to the longer format interviews. This is one of only two podcasts I don’t miss.
Love Kara, like Nayeema, and happy to hang on while the show works out its kinks. But it does need work. Sway worked because it was a lean, no-nonsense alternative to Pivot’s banter and long takes. This show hasn’t struck that balance yet. The quippy games and light chatting in each ep weigh down what we’ve come here for: Direct, compelling, news-worthy and no-nonsense interviews. The whole thing feels a bit cult-of-Kara, and I miss the simplicity of Sway.
Good chemistry between Kara and Nayema, enjoy the discussions pre and post interview.

I don’t get the Nayema hate. I love like their chemistry and think it adds a lot to the show. The post interview reaction segment helps listeners unpack the interview. Keep up the excellent work!
Smart smart smart.
Kara bills herself as an insider with soooo many connections, yet this podcast has to be the most un-impactful pathetic thing in existence. Every guest is a washed up has-been or a no name with tertiary relevance at best. The biggest interview so far was with Chris Cuomo, no not the disgraced former governor but his loser unemployed brother. And did anything come out of that interview? Any news stories, new investigations, discussions, did anyone get fired? Nope, nobody cared because it was just pointless bickering rehashing the same points that have been made by better journalists a thousand times already. Maybe Kara should stick to tech news, which is already irrelevant to the general population and therefore has zero expectations to begin with. But don’t wast your time with this garbage.
Leftist bias if that's what you want. Kara says Fetterman is entirely mentally intact and she had a normal convo with him. Just watch the Pennsylvania debates and this is Fetterman being fed his answers by teleprompter and he still can't complete a fluid sentence. Kara tows the Democrat's line. To listen to this drivel is to allow yourself to be brainwashed by the Democratic machine. Think for yourself. Weigh the facts yourself. Don't be sheeple.
I loved Sway but found this unlistenable. I don’t want the yucky banter or 20 minutes of discussing the issues of the day. Just no.
One or both has to go. It’s so grating. Otherwise love Kara’s interview style.
The Dasha Burns event proves she will attacks others for ideological reasons that aren’t fair.
Wow. Today’s discussion was so important. the different approaches of Rick and Sarah v. Frank is so important; rarely have I heard it so well articulated and discussed. Well done, in selecting your guests and interviewing the. And Neema is great.
Of all the Kara Swisher podcasts I have listened to, this one is the freshest format. The exchanges before and after the interviews are solid and fun. Good chemistry and insights (and banter). Subscribe and engage your brain!
The host constantly interrupts her guess with yes and imhmm. Super annoying and radio host 101. I’ll hang on for a little while and hope a producer can help the host break this habit . Thank you
New podcast doesn’t have the crispness and insights of Sway. Discussions with Naima somewhat flat - doesn’t really work.
Kara Swisher us one of the best journalists of our time and I have no doubt as to the important role Nayeema Raza plays as her producer. That said, I can’t stand this new format of bantering over current events before the heart of every episode (i.e. the actual interview). We get plenty of witty banter on Pivot with Scott Galloway. Adding more to this new show feels redundant. Please consider putting it at the end or time-stamping to easily skip over it.
I heard the first episode with the outstanding Chris Cuomo interview, and thought, “WOWZA I wish other journalists would be that aggressive getting the truth out of their subjects!” Then I heard the softball questions she lobbed to HER FRIEND Maggie Haberman, and my heart sank. Oh well…so much for that idea. Speaking of bad ideas…get rid of the annoying sidekick.
Sorry….
Absolutely love when pretentious posers insist on ‘casually’ dropping that they went to Stanford at every opportunity. Especially if they’ve adopted that valley girl vocal fry that’s common with that class of social climbers.
I stumbled on this podcast after listening to Swisher on another podcast and I have had my ear glued to it ever since
The interviews are terrific (as always) but the banter is dreadful. Please start the podcast with the interview or tell as at the top when it starts so we can skip to it.
A “fetal heartbeat” at 6 weeks is not a heartbeat, because there is no heart. At best, it’s “cardiac activity”. So if the conversion of that signal into something that sounds like a heartbeat that you can hear makes you feel like a mother, great, but don’t bring that feeling into an abortion rights discussion with Stacey Abrams.
I had such high hopes for this new show, but it’s no Sway (and I was a major Sway fan) Kara is always great, but the banter with Nayeema is a turn off. I just don’t think they complement each other. Hope they figure this out and it gets better. For now, I’m glad that there’s still Pivot.

This is the highlight of my week. Stacey Abrams was right. I’ve had four kids and the sound we hear at the ultrasound is the machine amplification. I could create a fetal “heartbeat” with a Petri dish of undifferentiated tissue and a 9-Volt battery. Let’s admire a woman who tells the absolute truth no matter how we mommies romanticize what we think we hear.
Nayeema and Kara continue to hold it down with compelling content and interviews, but there’s too much focus on Elon. He doesn’t need to be given another media platform to take up air space. Please take a break from covering his antics and consider covering topics like housing which gets far too little attention given it impacts literally everyone. Alan Graham of Community First village in Austin would be a great guest and deserves the platform to be featured.
I love the format and banter between Kara and Nayeema. Great mix of informal conversation and interview with notable guest.
What happened?! Why does Kara need anyone to banter with for 15 mins at the start of every show? SWAY was such a wonderful pod. This is just annoyance. :/

I could just listen to Nayeema and Kara banter - they’ve got such a good dynamic. Love how Nayeema makes Kara laugh. Of course, Kara makes a very compelling case to listen to the interview too and doesn’t disappoint. Smart show, it’s become one of my favorites!
So far Nayeema dominates and that is not what I came to this pod cast to hear.
A reluctant 5 stars. This show is way better than Sway but no where nearly as good as Pivot. I like her new co- host and I think she (co-host) improves the show. I do like Kara’s input about her experience of surviving a stroke. I am a retired RN so I understand the situation a lot better than your average bear. I think Kara reports her own experience as a “stroke survivor” in a very effective way. I wish this could be amplified more.
Like the interviews, not fond of the sidekick’s analysis of said interviews.
I appreciate Kara Swisher’s interviewing chops as well as the guest lineup so far. And I’m open to some chitchat before the show, but for heaven’s sake, don’t make me listen to the preamble with Nayeema where they talk about the recent news PLUS more nonsense about the upcoming guest. It feels very forced and is honestly superfluous and boring.
a compelling combination …. once again elevating real talk to another level. thanks for persisting in your work for all our benefit - and so glad you will finally own the fruits of your labor! big congrats:) such a relief to have stumbled on your incredible reporting ! let’s hope you inspire a generation of journalists to come .
