This podcast has been incredible from the start, but each episode has been deeper and more meaningful. So glad you two are doing this, these conversations are so needed!
I grew up North of Duluth in Two Harbors and Kara was a local hero! I didn’t start running until college and now have been running 26 years. Kara is so relatable as a runner, mom, friend, so much more. Des is a favorite of so many too as she beats to her own drum, is so real and gritty and I love how Kara gets her to up up a bit more /pushes her in a way that is so fun and endearing. Y’all are the best and love your honesty, humor, & education on running and all that goes along with it whether you are an elite runner or am everyday runner like myself who treats Boston like the Olympics 😉
Besides being fans, they are a natural duo. The latest episode was emotional and hard for Kara to do I'm sure but thank you for putting yourself out there. Keep up the good work!
I finally made time to listen to this podcast, and now I am fangirling all over the place. Two charismatic, talented women talking a about running. Could I ask for anything more?
This is seriously the best of all the running podcasts out there. How do these ladies not have sponsors yet? I am officially obsessed and can’t wait for each new episode.
Des and Kara are so good and so smart that they convinced me that listening to a podcast (any podcast!) was worth my time. In other words, if they hadn’t come up with “Nobody Asked Us” I would still be podcast-free in my listening habits. 😛
So much to enjoy with these two. Whether you agree with what they say, you most likely will enjoy the banter/discussion especially if you love all things running. Their timing with each other is so raw, honest, & funny.
LOVE the shoe tech & Laura interview!
I truly enjoy the conversations Des and Kara have in this podcast! But I do have one gripe. Of course I want to hear their personal opinions and experiences, but some of the conversations seem to be unnecessarily geared towards putting down a certain brand. As a Seattle resident, I love my Oiselle and Brooks and 100% find value in supporting the smaller companies; but, I also believe in supporting the sport of running as a whole. I’m going to keep listening to them because I love them together, but I’d love it more if there was less finger pointing.
A great listen for any runner or really anyone. Love how candid and straightforward Des & Kara are. For people who didn’t know each too well prior, they have great chemistry and a nice flow to the conversation. I especially love listening on my long runs. Hope they continue it!
I’ve been listening to all the podcasts. Looking forward to your books. Read Ms. Linden’s excerpt in the latest Runner’s World. Excited to read the whole book.
Such a pleasure and deeply inspiring to hear two absolute pros talking together about their history and knowledge of the sport. I knew it would be good but I didn’t expect to love it as much as I do. Please keep them coming!
Great combo of Des & Kara talking about their backgrounds, challenges, and all the things you wondered while watching them race. Thanks for the laughs & anecdotes. Looking forward to reading your books!
I love Des and Kara! I’ve been a fan for a long time and appreciate what they’ve done for the sport so it’s such a treat to get to listen in on their conversations. I read Lauren’s book after the episode with her and it was awesome! Immediately gave it to my daughter who is a high school runner. I can’t wait to read Des and Kara’s books and listen to many more episodes!
Just loved the 1st three episodes! What a great idea, two of the most tenacious competitors in American running history, two of my favorite athletes and just grounded, authentic and genuinely great people! Tremendous roles models for everyone, especially other females athletes. Keep up the great work I have added this to my must not miss list, can’t wait for Desi’s book launch!
Honest…vulnerable…hilarious!! I love how you “unintentionally planned” Kara’s Girl Talk game experience and Des’s viral post about Salazar and the backpack…Both clearly connections of emotional abuse targeting young women in games and sports. I love and relate to their resolute spirits shining in an introverted but open platform!!!
I’ve never rated or written a review for a podcast before, but felt very compelled to for this one. This is one of the best new running podcasts…and I’ve listened to a lot of them! I’ve been binge listening to them on my runs as I prep for my first Boston! It feels like I’m with my running gal pals. I love these ladies so much. They are very real and endearing. I appreciate how down to earth they are and very genuine they sound. It’s also nice getting a perspective from pro females. So rare. As a 39 year old hobby competitive runner, I’ve looked up to these ladies running all my life….pretty sure I raced them in footlocker back in the day too! Haha. Keep the podcasts coming Des and Kara!! They’re so good!
Much kindness and personality from two legends of running in the US. Fresh and clearly unscripted but thematic. Fascinating peek behind the races, Strava files, social media, and mics at the profession of running and sports broadcasting and being a human who has achieved on a world stage
Kara & Des are two of my favorite runners who I’ve followed for years, having them both on the same pod is great.
The reason I like Kara & Des is how relatable they are. Both are as accomplished as a runner can be but relay their stories & advice in such an approachable way. That all comes across in this pod.
Breath of fresh air! Really nice to listen to a podcast that is interesting, entertaining, offers wisdom, and is not over-produced. My new favorite running podcast! 🙏❤️🏃♂️
Such an excellent podcast. So nice to hear behind the scenes chats with two of the best women distance running athletes the US has seen. The Lauren Fleshman episode was even more interesting, with another voice joining in. I like how candid and improvisational the Des/Kara conversations are. Keep it up!
I have enjoyed all of the episodes! You both are so genuine and a breath of fresh air! I was at the 2012 Olympics cheering for USA! Made sure to be at the women’s marathon!
I have very much enjoyed the first fiur episodes of “Nobody Asked Us”. My son ran in college which inspired my amateur running career. This resulted in me becoming a certified USATF Coach and an online running coach. In addition, I qualified for this year’s Boston marathon. That all said, your podcast is going to be loved by all the track-junkies of the world as you discuss behind the scenes aspects of the sport that us fans will soak in. I loved your discussion about your NBC sports broadcasting experience.
I especially enjoyed the honest discussion you had with Lauren Fleshman about her new book and specifically the not always out in the open discussions about the challenges women runners face in the sport. Many of my online athletes are women and it’s important for me to be dialed in to the challenges you covered on the show. Like I always used to tell our children, “You guys, keep being you”
“Des & Kara, Keep being you!”
Felt like I was in a chat w best friends w # 4! I am NOWhere near your levels, yet you are so relatable! Your authenticity is amazing. Loved the buns discussion. Keep these coming!!!
Congratulations on using what you have learned and experienced to advance your careers in other disciplines! Love seeing your success as athletes and in other fields! Keep up the good work!
I am loving listening to Des and Kara. They make a great team and I love their honesty and curiosity and they insider detail that most of us running fans never see. Thanks Des and Kara!! I’m loving it!!!!
“Nobody asks us” so why not have that as a name for the wisdom of women who should be asked! Straight talk, knowledge and perspectives from a generation of women runners who have changed the sport!
