The Really Very Crunchy Podcast

Reviews For The Really Very Crunchy Podcast

I’m making changes in my life and being more intentional with what I chose to listen to. I used to listen to true crime podcast all day every day, but I’ve made the decision to stop listening to. Those has switched to something more lighthearted or that’s going to be beneficial to me. This podcast is just what I need is a breath of fresh air. Jason and Emily are the perfect duo!
Comedy gold! The witty banter is exactly what I want to hear while I whip up my tallow or make bone broth. Harvesting veggies? Free range children outside? Favorite podcast to have a good laugh and shed a little tear.
I look forward to listening to your podcast every week. Y’all have me laughing out loud often and your relationship reminds me a lot of mine with my husband. And I just want to say thank you for your IG videos. I binge watched them during middle of the night feedings. They helped me stay awake. And they had me laughing so hard I once woke up my sleeping baby. 😂
Jason is literally the most hilarious person I’ve ever heard on a podcast. I’m cracking up all the time! But I’m giving two stars because Emily is honestly the most upsetting…she’s so rude to Jason and she’s not funny—like, at all. I feel myself physically recoiling every time she takes a jab at Jason, and it seemed like Jason tried to cover for her after another listener complained about this, but tbh it sincerely seems like Emily doesn’t really like her own husband. “Banter” is one thing. Constant criticism, interrupting and cutting him off, not letting him finish a thought (“moving on!”), ignoring him, and sarcasm is another. Please do better. I love listening but Emily, you take the joy out of fun stories with your attitude towards your own husband.
I have binged this podcast since I first learned it existed! The way you two banter and are so evidently in love with each other is inspiring. I look forward to y’all’s episodes and am so excited for both of you! Keep at it! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🫶🏻
Love their videos on IG but this podcast makes me appreciate the videos and the creators even more. Emily does such a great job demonstrating how to be crunchy but also flexible about it. This is my favorite podcast to listen to while doing dishes or doing laundry.
I’ve been following “Really Very Crunchy” on IG 2 years ago- it’s one of my favorite pages to follow and I am thrilled you guys now have a podcast!🎉 It’s nice having comic relief in the midst of the chaos around us- and for the record, I loved the RVC squirrel nursing and chickenpox episodes on IG 😂 🐿️🍼
I have so enjoyed this podcast! It's simply fun, light hearted, and the perfect podcast to listen to when your walking the dog, doing dishes, or nursing your little one. I have even caught myself laughing out loud at their playful banter and ridiculous stories. Thanks for the laughs and continuing to make new episodes each week!
Love the banter 🔥thanks for making my life just a tiny bit better 😅
Fellow TV guardian homeschooled kid here! I actually loved the tv guardian and it wasn’t until I became an adult that I realized all the words used were SO hilarious as far as substitutions😄 Made those sleepover party nights with fellow homeschooler/church kids that much better! Thanks for making us “weirdos” feel seen!!
Love listening to these two! Love getting a glimpse of the two individuals who make me laugh with short videos on social media. They remind me a lot of my and my husband so their banter feels very relatable. Just two regular people talking about real life things. Like a breath of fresh air :)
I love being able to listen to them when ever I am doing something else it keeps me from going crazy!!
What a great podcast! Y’all make me laugh.
In response to you guys saying that everyone takes you guys too literally, it could just be because the videos are well put together and you guys are really good at acting

You make me look crazy laughing out loud on my morning walks. I love the dynamic between the two of you. Keep doing what you’re doing!
I am definitely far from crunchy but I just love listening to these two. I listen to about 5 other podcasts religiously that are entertaining and this is the only one that actually makes me laugh out loud. It is also very informative, I have them to thank for helping me understand my sons behavioral issues may be from his foods. Also I’m from Kentucky too, love it when they talk about places I know! Would love to meet them one day!
I look forward each new episode. I think Jason is sooooo funny. I love his sarcasm and quick humor. I love how sweet Emily is. You can tell how genuine she is. I would definitely recommend!
This is an amazing podcast I love your content on anxiety and on having another baby! Emily, you might be interested in looking into a doula for your birthing anxiety they can help with that!
Hope you see me!! For the record I laugh at all of Jason’s quirky jokes/comments 😜 I love to come on this podcast for some entertainment. Emily could go a little easier on Jason. You can tell they’ve been together for so long there’s clearly no filter lol.
I strive so hard to be as crunchy as Emily. It is so hard!! They are so entertaining and they crack me up!! A great listen and I love that they don’t use bad language. I love the banter between them! You two are so absolutely adorable! You are two little peas in a pod. I am so glad that I found you and your books and podcast. Keep up informing us please.
My new comfort podcast! I just love listening to Emily and Jason chat. Also, I was totally cracking up out loud during Jason‘s old person jokes in the latest episode. My Mennonite Farmer neighbors whose house I was passing on our walk probably thought I was crazy.
I recommend this podcast to everyone! The perfect length! I can get the kitchen cleaned while I listen and have a few minutes leftover to sneak a cookie and relax. Hehe
I love this podcast and the crunchy lifestyle and please don’t get me wrong we live in an age where it’s nearly impossible to not have ordered something from amazon at some point but an Amazon AD?? That seems very counterintuitive to the message…
Do you know how hard to find a podcast that isn’t full of curse words, or sexual double meaning jokes? Thank goodness for the hilariously enjoyable relatable podcast. I look forward to my Wednesday mornings 🥰 Thanks Emily and Jason
Emily and Jason feel like friends! The topics they cover are interesting and relatable. I love how honest and genuine they are in their approach to parenting, life and the crunchy lifestyle! A must-listen!
I belly laugh out loud every episode!
Great podcast Babies don’t self soothe they feel abandoned don’t blame podcasters when 1- you could tune it off or 2- realize that you are feeling guilty for the choices you have made
I enjoy hearing Emily and Jason chat about all the topics and admire their honesty and integrity. I wish we lived in the same area because I would love having them as neighbors and friends. We also co-slept with our children and homeschooled and I’ve gone through waves of crunchiness in my life, so it’s nice to hear Emily and Jason cover those subjects. Love this podcast!
My week is not complete without my Wednesday addiction to listening to you two! I enjoy your banter and topics immensely. Emily, so many ways in which I feel we could be maybe the same person. But…duh duh duhhhh (cue dramatic music) I am also a dichotomy. I laughed in this past week’s episode because…I homeschooled my daughters (now 23 and 18) from Kindergarten on and did co-ops in HS, and yet I have my nose pierced- ha! Here is my “why”…for me, not only do I love the look, but I tend to be artsy, so it fits me- but also, I liked how people would then NOT put me in a box when they see I homeschool my children AND have my nose pierced. It’s like they ponder… how can those two coexist?? 😆 They think they know me but -BAM- you don’t! I also- gasp- get my nails done…but do NOT use the UV lights. I just have horrid nails and they drive me bonkers and become such a distraction left to their natural state. And I like pretty things, so there’s that. I would never get a tattoo (toxic!), I teach at a homeschool co-op, use crunchy deodorant (love limes!), live on a hobby farm with horses, chickens, and rabbits (did process rabbits for meat for a season!), grow a big garden, seed-save, use my home grown comfrey on any inflammation, highlight my hair (gasp again), avoid glyphosate like the plague, make my own sourdough bread with organic flour from Italy (wheat berries to be tacked soon), only eat local and grass fed meat, have our own apple trees that we do not spray, can (verb 🤪) a ton of applesauce, I mean- I could keep going - so basically, I am fairly crunchy and have raised crunchy kids- so I am feeling pretty good overall. Except nails and hair. I’ll work on those. But the nose piercing stays. 😉🤣😆 -Kristin, from Indiana
Love what these guys are doing! Podcasts weren't around when I was homeschooling, but this would have definitely bolstered my insecurities and helped me to laugh at myself. I was crunchy and cringy back before it was cool, so it would've been fun to find a podcast and Instagram like "Really Very Crunchy" to help fuel my fire! (Side note: although my kids used to roll their eyes at all of the things I subjected them to as a crunchy mom, they are now MORE crunchy than I am, and are repeating the cycle as homeschooling parents. I can't help but be proud!).
Ha, I’ve been following your videos for almost a year I think it’s been, and only just checked out your podcast. It is really good!! I’m so glad you started it! My husband also got me your book so I’ve started reading that. I’m no where near REALLY very crunchy, but I’d say I’m somewhat crunchy, borderline just straight crunchy according to your “quiz” in the book. I love how you said “it’s just rude!” About the lack of healthy fast food options! 😋 I know Jason wanted to correct the use of that word, but I felt so understood. There’s almost never any healthy options, and my standards aren’t even as high as yours! But I relate so much to what you are feelings as a result of the culture in our American society! Thank you for putting voice to this struggle to do better and be better. It helps me not feel so alone! We just moved to Missouri 1.5yrs ago. Natural health and Whole Foods kinda eating here in the Midwest has definitely not “caught on” here yet. (Out west it was a little more common to find people with similar views)…ugh, and yes, there are corn fields next door!! 😬 …If I eat healthy and DO say something, I’m a snob. So either I stay real quiet and do my own thing, or I fall pray to the temptation to just “go along with it” and feel included/accepted. I wish I had your conviction to be so different Emily! I have only been on this crunchier journey, probably for the last 10 years or so. 19 years ago I guess it started when I went to choosing to buy whole wheat bread instead of white, when I was on my own when first in college. Ha. 😝 But now I’m all in! And similarly very slowly converting my husband. He also within the last year has really seemed to actually have his own positive experience and feelings about my healthier choices. He’s starting to make his own better choices when I’m not around too! I guess Breastfeeding, co-sleeping, natural (and most recently at home!) birthing, gardening, our own land and geese/chickens, and now homeschooling…naturally all came from an effort to be more “natural” and be healthier. Lol. I think green smoothies were my “gateway drug.” 😋 Incidentally, I am ALSO shocked at what general Americans (even my Naturopathic-studied family member) consider healthy, or acceptable to feed anyone (let alone my children) on a regular basis! (And ya, I’m with ya…I have never bought or cooked with Velvetta. The thought of it grosses me out! Always has) Ha. But I do have “fond memories” of eating fruit loops at grandmas house or pop tarts on special occasions growing up. I just can’t bring myself to eat them anymore. Thanks for the entertaining, yet also validating, conversations. I also appreciate some of the quotes Jason gives of studies and findings…some things I didn’t know before! Both of you are a great team and the different perspectives make for great podcast content! ❤️ it!
I love listening to all your stories, keep it up!
I love the fun bantering and side tracked conversations that are entwined with some aspects of a crunchy lifestyle.
Emily and Jason, you two are so wholesome and responsible. You seem down to earth and relatable, I just listened to the first episode and I am along for the ride now! :))
I have really enjoyed this podcast up til this point, and it's probably because I've agreed with most of their perspectives for the most part. The bed sharing episode I found to be judgmental and hurtful. I don't need to feel belittled and shamed as a mother for letting my babies learn how to self soothe and yes, cry it out. I care about my children deeply. I don't appreciate the implications that anyone who doesn't parent exactly as Jason and Emily are somehow not nurturing parents 💔 I don't need to feel beat up by a couple of podcasters.
I looooove this podcast. I listen and watch every episode that has come out so far. This last episode on bed sharing and co-sleeping was my favorite so far in terms of the layout of the podcast. Though I’ve enjoyed every single podcast so far and find y’all hilarious, I particularly liked that this one was more on topic. Also! Deeply respect and am encouraged by the way you guys seem to have unwavering convictions and wisely approach life - seems like you’ve done your fair share of wrestling with what is right for you and your family, and I love that you humbly stand firm regardless of others opinions. It’s so hard to do when you don’t have many like-minded people in your community.
I love how real Emily and Jason are, their sense of humor, and how well they play off each other. I’m personally not as crunchy as Emily, but I try to incorporate crunchiness into my family a little at a time. The times they worry about offending or getting canceled tend to be my favorite parts of their podcast. 😂
So many of the “controversial comments” you guys have about food industry, homeschooling and bedsharing, I completely agree with and do myself with my children. You guys coming out and saying them for the world to hear makes me feel so much more “normal” (which isn’t the goal, but it feels like I’m not the only one, at least). Thank you for making things people consider outlandish or “crazy crunchy” more of a normal thing! Can you guys do a episode on how you guys went about potty training?
Love this podcast! I’ve tried other podcasts but can never get into them. This is the only one I look forward to and have listened to every episode. I hear SO much of myself and my husband in the stories. I wish Emily was my friend. Read Emily’s book in two days. It was SO good! Can’t get enough.
Love your podcast! You do a great job being blunt with each other yet brushing off things that your spouse says without getting offended. I’m impressed with your candor and thick skin (both of you). Love the conversation and look forward to a new show every week. I followed on IG, then started listening to the podcast, and read your book. All as a still not-so-crunchy fan :)
I love listening to them and their funny stories.

Love listening to your podcast! You are both so relatable and down to earth (Jason I don’t think you’re too “complainy”) I had some good laughs while binging on your episodes!
I love that it’s normalizing relationships that have squabbles or a woman explaining how she needs to be appreciated. Having different love languages is an amazing episode. But then they go onto to explain Jason’s hands and I lost it, that’s definitely the laugh I needed.
I’ve been listening while I work and unfortunately ran out of episodes! Can’t wait to hear more from yall!!!! Absolutely love this show. And I definitely was INFLUENCED to start reading the ingredients on the groceries I buy lol
These two are so funny! I’ve watched their shorts for awhile but it’s so cool to see them “out of character “ and hear their real life stories. I listen to them as I do housework or milk our cow because they’re so entertaining and make time fly. Also after learning about Jason’s “fat hand”- definitely going back to the videos to see since I’ve never heard of such a hand😂
You guys are freaking hysterical and I so look forward to new episodes! My daughter is on the crunchy journey with her two little girls, her hubby and she was dragging me behind her, but now I’m skipping happily along! Your book was such an entertaining, useful and fast read, I really hope you write another one soon.
The algorithm led to us to your shorts on social media years ago (back when I still had social media accounts 😉), and now we’re blessed to be able to listen to this podcast. My husband and I have been listening together and I don’t think that we’ve listened to any other show that made us so innocently and genuinely giggle the entire time. Maybe your banter reminds us of our own relationship, or maybe we’re just crunchy enough to get the jokes, but most likely you guys are just so sincere and lovable we can’t help but enjoy it. 💕
This is one of the podcasts that I frequently find myself laughing out loud as I listen. It’s like having a conversation with close friends. It’s real. It’s funny. It’s life giving. God bless your marriage and your family!
I’ve been greatly looking forward to each weekly episode, and not a one disappoints. As a fan of ReallyVeryCrunchy on the socials, it is so nice hearing Emily and Jason discuss life stories, mishaps, struggles, triumphs, and relatable anecdotes. Give it a listen!
