There and Gone: South Street

Reviews For There and Gone: South Street

Started off strong and interesting and now seems like they are forcing episodes out of d content. Stopped listening after they brought on a “medium” in earnest. I couldn’t believe it.
I enjoyed this podcast except for 1) the horrible opening music 2) the psychic
I like long form podcasts, especially involving unsolved crimes. I appreciated the amount of time spent speaking with family and friends. I also think it’s awesome that the FBI participated and sees the value in podcast journalism. I could’ve done without the twist in episode 9. Otherwise, it was an easy listen, gave a lot of insight and was well produced. I’m a fan of Andrea Gunning and will continue to enjoy her work.
A psychic medium? What a joke.
The story is interesting it really repetitive and I think they make some pretty long leaps about what happened and the people involved. They drag one of the people because they didn’t act the way they wanted them to. Bad reporting and bad conclusions
Painfully drawn out. There’s enough content for 3 episodes max. And the theme song is awkwardly morose. I have to fast forward past it - it gives me secondhand embarrassment.
By far one of the BEST Beautiful and terrifying Can’t imagine the pain, the nightmares, the longing and tears St. Anthony, make magic happen
Not at all suspicious that this show is sponsored by California Psychics and made two psychic themed episodes.
I cannot believe you actually wasted time with a psychic and presented it as legitimate and credible. Did your psychic solve the case for you? Of course he didn’t. The fact that you put this forward tells me you have no interest in serious investigative reporting. You have no credibility!
What is the purpose of repeating information over and over? Very annoying and makes it hard to listen to. Would be much more interesting if laid out in a more cohesive fashion.
I was enjoying this podcast and willing to forgive the repetition but the psychic??? That really ruined the credible investigative podcast aspect…
Dedicated a whole episode of speculative filler to an interview with a psychic medium. The “investigative journalists” don’t give any pushback to the psychic. The psychic’s answers were so clearly pre-researched or fed to the psychic from producers. What an insult to the victims and their families.

I had not heard of this case before finding this podcast. It is very well done. I appreciate the reminders of who people are. I wish the episodes were longer but that’s my personal preference. The host is great and I’d love to listen to more podcasts from her.
I’ve lived in Philadelphia my whole life, not to far from where this happened. I was in my early 20s when this happened and I still remember it like it was yesterday. Thank you for covering this.
… but please get rid of the into song! It’s a pet peeve of mine when podcasts have intro songs. I FF thru it but it’s annoying to have to do it every time I listen.
They get absolutely nowhere in their “investigation” and just throw up there hands and go to a PSYCHIC MEDIUM in the finale. Embarrassing.
I have followed this story since day one and have always prayed for some type of closure for the families involved. This podcast has done a great job of retelling the story and getting into even deeper details of it. I am sad to see it come to an end as I look forward to listening every week. Andrea and Ben are amazing!
I think this is one of the best podcasts I’ve ever listened to. Keep up the great work and I will pray that these families get answers now that you’ve brought their disappearances back under the spotlight.
This pod is dragging content out, presumably to reach 10 episodes. What can there be after the psychic? I’m thinking a rehash wrap up
Great journalism. This story is heartbreaking. The medium episode blew me away. Hope that this can be solved for the families
I was fine with the show up until the psychic episode. I remember when this happened, from living in the area and eve was at the park when the non-related cars were pulled from Cooper River. It was a solid retelling of what happened and maybe someone will come forward with info. I just cannot take the complete nonsense of psychics in anything let alone true crime and policing. Far too many shows slide down this path. Just stop.
Interesting story… but it sounds like Poppy from Trolls in the one telling the story and it really throws me off. I keep waiting for her to break out into song or something. Wrong voice for this type of podcast.
It’s rare you have a great story and can still make a podcast unbearable to listen to. Episode eight and she still talking about how the family feels about the people disappearing. Where’s the investigation? Waste of time.
Being a South Jersey girl, I have followed this sad story from the very beginning. Finally getting the true facts, from the people who have lived through this terrible, tragic story. This podcast is so well done and the host is fabulous.
I love this podcast. I purchased a subscription strictly to listen to this one and its proven to be an excellent investment. A healthy dose of deep dive into this case, I grew up in the around the area of the Viking Pastry shop and thought I heard every possible rumor about this place, it’s almost an urban legend at this point…gone the way of “Satanville” in Glen Mills. But this investigation has even more theories explored than even us locals are familiar with.
I’m from a Philly and have been following this mystery since day one. This pod retells the story, but still goes nowhere toward solving the mystery other than shining fresh light on the story. From a local perspective, the bar was a former Chinese restaurant and not a happening place for music, and this winter night was a relatively quiet night for south street. It’s also possible that this stolen truck was chopped and parted out, or merely repainted and driven out of state, to simply disappear into the ether. Go Birds
Who was the other woman? She was never mentioned. Is it possible that imbo knew her prior to the superbowl trip? That it was a prearranged meet up? Maybe that’s why it was important that he not cancel. Could she have been upset when imbo went back to his wife? Did imbo go back to her when Danielle disappeared? Just like that? He up and moved all the way to Georgia for a woman he only knew a week? I cant believe that. Why are you trying so hard to make this about org crime? It is a double love triangle. Also. You didn’t need to be a pagan or mafia to make a car disappear. Everyone who lives there knows anyone back then could pay to make a car disappear at those junkyards. If it was too expensive etc. you could pay for them to destroy it. They totally lost it by episode 6.
They don't at all explore the possibility that they had an accident and drove into the water where the car is still submerged. Where did the police search the water? Where did Adventures with a Purpose search? What other water along their route should be searched? Rather than just exploring the most shocking possibility (that it must be a hit man since there was no trace of them, the vehicle, or even a crime scene), actually do the work and explore what is actually the simplest explanation (they and their car haven't been found because it is submerged in water and there is no crime scene). There is not a modicum of actual proof anywhere in this show. Don't let yourself be taken in by their sensationalism.
like many true crime podcasts nowadays, there is absolutely nothing novel or truly journalistic about this podcast. I feel bad saying so, and I’m sure there are people on this project with good intentions, but I am really sick of podcasts using cases like this as a cash cow, while they offer absolutely nothing novel to the investigation. Each episode of this podcast is repetitive of the last, and after 5 episodes I am finally accepting that they are doing NOTHING to move this investigation forward (unless you count retelling the case for visibility - which, yes, is important). In comparison, I listened to a 1-hour episode about the case from another podcast, and have learning nothing more in the 5 episodes of this podcast than I did in the singular episode that I originally listened to. I’m really not trying to be mean but I am SICK of the exploitative nature of these podcasts. I’m at the point where I am truly disgusted by it. If you’re reading this — DO BETTER. If anyone’s on the fence I’d encourage against subscribing and downloading. There are more thoughtful ways to support visibility of the case and the families.
Love the telling of this story because I just love when everyone can work together for the greater good. FBI agent Vito I hope you see this because you seem like an amazing officer! I wish all were like you. Great job to the journalist and host and all involved as well. I’m not finished yet but I hope we find these people!
I was skeptical about this show because other work by these producers is trashy, but I gave it a shot because I live in Philadelphia and remember the case. These people did no original reporting of any substance - they basically summarized a decade-old Philadelphia Magazine article that detailed the actual investigation. From there, they went straight to speculation, rumors, ridiculous stereotypes of Italian-Americans, etc. - everything but a Geno’s vs. Pat’s tasting. No shoe-leather work or the discovery of any real evidence whatsoever. What a disgrace, an insult to two families who have been through so much pain; the producers owe them an apology.
You are doing such a fantastic job. For the first time, I feel we are getting close to some answers of what actually happened. Continue your research. Looking forward to the next podcast.
Great podcast! I feel so sad for both families. I pray that someday they receive closure.

As always, I wonder where Israel Keyes was at the time
Wonderful family & friend interviews and fascinating story. You really feel for Danielle & Richard’s loved ones.
Captivating story with Greta writing!
I love this podcast! So well done!
Thank you. So happy someone is finally doing this case. It was always so chilling that everyone in the area just continued on with their lives as if these two young, vibrant people didn’t just fall off of the face of the earth. My heart breaks for the victims, including those still living. I can only hope that 20 years later, this podcast can help someone come forward with information that can at least give the family some finality. Thank you, iHeart, for finally giving this case & the victims a voice.
As a participant of this podcast, I’m thrilled to see information that was known for years come to light. What’s highly disturbing is that Danielle’s family is willing to sacrifice her justice for self-preservation. Don’t travel to the Super Bowl with her ex-husband and cheat on your wife. Wrong witness. Will we hear from her mother? My guess is definitely not. Too wracked with guilt that she sacrificed one child for the other.
Writing good
Great story and keeps my attention but there is too much background music. Those who have hearing loss can’t filter multiple sounds. If someone is talking, get rid of the music.
The host sounds exactly like every other true crime investigational journalist. Why are we arguing semantics over whether or not they were a couple? Who cares?
Talk about vanishing! unbelievable mystery! Very professional, and thoroughly investigated! I'm captivated, totally "present" & on the edge of my seat!! Great storytelling. MAYBE this podcast WILL BREAK THIS MYSTERY WIDE OPEN!🙏🏻🤞🏼 So sad for the families.
What an incredible mystery and so well told! I’m on the edge of my seat and can’t wait to hear where this goes. Great podcast!

I’m from Reading. I consider myself from outside Philly and keep up on news and all my sports teams in Philly. These people are my people. I’m so sad about this story being still unsolved. I enjoyed the accents of the people on the podcast. I’ve listened to other stories you have covered. Keep going.
So glad to hear this story being retold in the hopes of finding answers for these families and friends. The first episode was both intriguing and succinct in the story telling. I will be tuning in for more!
I love a good “whodunnit” story and this one might be the most unique case yet. Can you imagine being the estranged husband?!?!
