Really good podcast. These “Religious” people are so self righteous and twist God and the Bible to fit their own agenda. Mankiewicz and his team are great at telling this story.
The fact that we had the phone calls of these two to listen to made it engaging for me. Interesting to hear what two people talk about as they’re being pursued.
Oh boy, another true crime podcast retelling very well known cases which 50 other shows have covered as well. How about digging a little deeper for some original content that hasn't been featured on Dateline within the past 3 yrs?
Host: Josh did a great job. Typical and expected.
Length: Material should be condensed to a single 90 min production.
Commercials: Nobody wants to hear JennaBush - cringy.
Subscriptions: I dropped my 3-yr subscription bc you are taking previous material and stretching it out, trying to present as a new product/episode. Talking dateline is lame as well.
Recommendation: focus on producing new material. You have a solid formula if you stick to it.
If you’re the kind of person who loves to lose yourself in the twists and turns of a story that feels as smooth as a silk sheet and as sharp as a dagger, Deadly Mirage will be your new obsession. This podcast doesn’t just tell stories—it pulls you into a world where intrigue and danger feel as natural as breathing.
The host’s voice? Pure velvet with a touch of smoke, drawing you into shadowy corners where the lines between right and wrong start to blur. Each episode unfolds like a slow pour of your favorite cocktail—rich, complex, and just the right amount of danger to keep your pulse racing.
What I love most is how Deadly Mirage makes you feel like you’re in on the secrets, like you’re sitting across the table from a stranger with a story you shouldn’t be hearing but can’t pull yourself away from. It’s thrilling, seductive, and utterly addictive.
If you’re ready to escape into a world where mystery feels like an old friend and every episode leaves you craving more, give Deadly Mirage a listen. Just don’t blame me if you can’t stop.
If you listen to the beginning of each episode, it seems that it contains 10 mins of recap from the previous episode… it’s a 30 mins podcast.
also, it’s too dragged out.
Josh always narrates and tells a great story. I remember this Dateline so was so excited when I started listening to realize it was THAT story! Great coverage. Much more detail than the Dateline. Fave podcast of recent! Bring more specials like this!!
This one was a hard listen for me. Hearing the Bible misunderstood and perverted like Jonathan and Sabrina did makes me physically ill. Add in the way the far-right in American politics have also abused the Word of God and it often feels like many so-called (and public) representatives of Christianity are mouthpieces of the evil one. The religion of love and light smeared by hate and darkness.
I want to thank the narrator for bookending the fake religious talk from the perpetrators with the quote and application from Hosea. That was well done! (And biblically accurate, and applied appropriately. Hallelujah!) That’s why I’m taking the time to comment, because it’s not like people don’t know that Dateline podcasts are excellent. It’s because I’m grateful that someone with an elevated voice didn’t take the opportunity to hate on the Bible or Christians (even though many Christian’s admittedly deserve it). You ended the show in a respectful - and convicting - way that I imagine God is pleased with. Since literally everything and most everybody in this story is are the opposite.
This story was riveting from the beginning and I first heard it told through Dateline. Very comprehensive narrative, with all of the relevant and deep details one expects from Dateline.
Christians are THE WORST. “I am a Christian so God should forgive me for having an affair and killing a man.” The delusion! Believing in God and going to church do NOT make you a good person. Doing good deeds makes you a good
person. The prime example of this is Jimmy Carter.
Love Josh’s narration, almost as iconic as Keith’s. I remember this one from when it was featured on dateline, but my memory of the details is fuzzy so I wait eagerly for the next installment. AND my subscription getting me early access AND no commercials is the best $2.99 I spend all month. Keep them coming!
The narrator is incredibly overwrought, and fixated on a lot of what is ordinary adult human behavior. It's like listening to two 12-year-olds in a trench coat trying to get into an R-rated movie: unintentionally hilarious.
The fact that this is produced through a journalism outlet is, however, deeply embarrassing.
I watched this whole court case. It’s so heartbreaking. I only live 45minutes from where this occurred. Sabrina lured him in and he ruined his life for her. He should have ran for the hills. They are both twisted individuals. Very sad ordeal.
Dateline has the best raconteurs in the business! Their iconic voices are perfect for telling these amazingly interesting stories. I love listening while doing simple household chores. This story is full of great wire tap audios between the persons of interest. Love! Love! Love!
The narration is so bad at times that I mistook it for AI, and the sound design is just horrible. There is an overwhelming amount of noise at the same volume as whoever is speaking. The audio also changes from one topic to the next jarringly fast.
The story is cool and the podcast is good so far but I’m not paying and neither is anyone else. This is why NBC is dying. Stop trying to milk people for $
It’s hard to write a review with out spoiling the story for newcomers. I’m familiar with this story from when it was featured on dateline, and it’s always been one of my favorites. It’s really interesting to hear greater detail on it. The in depth interviews with other people involved including family and law enforcement really fills in some of the questions that I had about the story. It’s really well done and tantalizing I’m hanging on every word. I can’t wait for the next episode!
I wasn’t gonna listen to this story because I’ve heard it so many times but when I heard Josh was narrating it…I WAS IN! And he did not disappoint. I cannot wait for the next episode.
I have heard Josh on Dateline numerous times. When I heard him talking about his latest podcast on The Mark Thompson YouTube show I had to listen. Josh describes everything as if you are watching it on tv. So well done!
Having seen the original Dateline story on TV, there is little unique in this case making it suited for an extended multi episode weekly podcast. Cheating husband shot at work by his cheating wife’s firefighter boyfriend who implicates the wife in a scheme to collect life insurance. That a key piece of evidence is video camera footage showing the gunman traveling to and from the crime scene doesn’t carryover well to an audio only format for an extended presentation of this story, and makes no sense. Come on Josh, Keith would never milk this episode relying on crime scene video for an extended podcast.
Josh - always amazing. But this story, the way it’s told, I listen to each episode over and over. There are so many layers, I literally wake up in the middle of the night to listen again. Cannot wait for the next episode…
