Apologia

Reviews For Apologia

On this podcast, you will hear some very smart people talk in a general way about some very interesting issues. You will not hear conclusions, because that is not what this podcast is about. It is a kaffeeklatch among philosophers and theologians who usually don't have a real stake in the outcome. Even the most blatant abuses of logic (by theists and pantheists alike) go unchallenged. I think that's because challenge and rigor are inimical to the ethos of this show. This podcast was a complete waste of my time and an insult to real debate. Even free, it was far too expensive.
Very articulate and knowledgeable apologists from both the Christian and Atheist sides discussing issues in a friendly and courteous (even humorous) format - as a result, the give-and-take sheds a lot of light on both group's arguments that you wouldn't hear if they were just shouting at each other. Essential for believer and non-believer alike.
The conversations that I hear on this podcast are the ones I always hope to have with my friends- open, honest discussion on matters of faith and knowledge without knee-jerk reactions on either side. The people who participate in this program and its moderator, Zachary Moore, should be very proud to be making this kind of content available to the rest of the world. I came to this podcast after Evolution 101 came to an end, and was not disappointed. Thank you very much!
This is a really, really intelligent podcast.
Dr. Zach's Evolution 101 podcast was far better than this one. I'm in favor of friendly, civil dialogue, but good grief! Is no one willing to take an actual position on anything anymore? To be fair: I only listened to a couple of episodes, but it seems to me that this friendly discussion of ideas is too much concerned with "friendly" and not enough concerned with "ideas." Eh, what do I know?
Great podcast. Can’t believe you only have 4 reviews. Where are you? Enjoyable, respectful conversation that will be enjoyed by both Christians and atheists alike, highly recommended.
Thank you guys for your beautiful work. World saving minds at work here people, listen and learn.
There are alot of points that you wouldn't consider except for this rare circumstance when theists and atheists are being peacable to eachother. That said, Zach, you don't have to be a Christian apologist just to facilitate this format, do you? In the first myth episode you say that the evils correlated with religion in the past are matters of society and economics, not necessarily religion- but that all the good things, charities and hospitals ARE a result of religion. Don't perpetuate the double standard, brother!
I have been waiting for a discussion of this nature for quite a while now. Finally, someone had the good sense to put a format like this together. Apologia is a welcome relief to the types of programs where individuals with entrenched beliefs pontificate and attempt to belittle their opponents. Although Dr. Moore and his panelists have differing views on the world and religion, it is refreshing to hear them debate issues and concepts that have been on people's minds for centuries in a civil manner. In the process of listening to discussions between theist and non-theist positions, I have been exposed to a number of important concepts and individuals I had never heard of before. I think the world needs a lot more willingness to put one's beliefs out on the table for examination and this show sets a good example. The participants offer constructive criticism of each other's arguments and seem to genuinely be open to this. All in all, listeners are encouraged to use critical thinking and make up their own minds about reality and social conduct. I am relatively new to podcasts and have sampled a number from both the science and religion camps. To date, this is my favorite. I can hardly wait to see where these guys go next and where they will ultimately wind up. Good luck.
I suppose the idea was a good one, try to find a reason why people believe what they do, but I have to say, this Podcast is a little more than fodder for a quick nap. I realize the idea of discovering the "true" root and science of beliefs may have been a good one, however the execution falls short.
