Absolutely wonderful, the best way to spend an hour <3 actually makes me look forward to Mondays!
I found an advertising for Chillpak Hollywood Hour in a digital copy of Paranoia magazine and being a fan of The Lone Gunmen, I figured I should check it out. I approached the podcast in much the same way I approach any podcast, generally disinterested listening while I do other chores, but soon something about the chemistry between Dean and Phil and Phil’s own sense of comic timing has made it one of those shows I have to devote most of my full attention to (thanks a lot Phil and Dean!). So now I look forward to the Saturday or Sunday tweet giving a teaser to Monday’s show and then refresh by Podcast app several times throughout the day. If you love entertainment, movies, TV shows, live events, or even fiction books, there is something here for you. But if you don’t have very many interests or just generally enjoy being miserable and sad you might have to look elsewhere, buy you should still give this show a spin first, just to be sure.
Love Dean and Phil ,their take on current events and Hollywood is funny and enlightening.Phil often throws in his other work in Psychology to give insightful looks into the deeper meaning of said media also. They often have interesting guests I wouldn't be exposed to.Hoping Dean's move to Australia doesn't hurt the chemistry of the show.Their entire catalog of shows is interesting to go back and listen to also for newbies.
These guys are the best, you'll love it
Fun podcast, definitely on my weekly must listen list
This is an extremely funny podcast! I listen to it to get a some comic relief to help me face going to work!
What else can I say?
Being a huge fan of the X-Files and hearing that Dean Haglund (who I knew well from his portrayal of Langly on the series) has a podcast, I had to check it out! However, I never expected to stumble upon the gem that is your Chillpak Hollywood Hour! Phil and Dean seem like two regular guys who just happen to be a part of the Hollywood mix. They provide not only great discussions of the entertainment industry from movies and television, behind the scenes production industry knowledge, and even a guest or two from time to time, but are not afraid to dive into other current event topics either. The hosts provide a unique perspective that is interesting and enjoyable. The engaging insight often leaves me food for thought that lasts long after the podcast is over. Highly recommended!
Like the infomercials you see on TV They can draw you in with a fake premise such s looking like a Talk or quiz show even a News program. This one is dressed as a Movie podcast, when in fact the dozen or so I listened to at random seem to be nothing but commercials for their on film they made or as in the title to sell you a Chillpack. Now either one is fine, more power to them for both Items. Lets just be real about what this podcast is. Infomercial for the podcast generation. Just how many times can you mention your film in a hour?
I saw Dean Haglund's panel at Dragoncon this year and he mentioned this podcast. As any good fan would do, I found it and listened to it and I totally love it. Can't wait for next weeks show! :D
Entertaining, intelligent conversation. A look at Hollywood from guys that are working and creating. Great guests. This is a thinking person's podcast. A new favorite!
I love listening to these podcasts because they are very entertaining and it's cool to hear non-mainstream commentary about the industry. Dean and Phil have a very good rapport with each other during their discussions whether it be about paranormal stuff, tv or films. I would highly encourage new listeners to check out some of these great podcasts.
After over a year of listening, it's time to give back with a review! Fantastically funny, thoughtful and always entertaining. Don't let the title fool you, this goes way beyond Hollywood! It sounds cheesy to say it, but I find this podcast inspiring- to get me thinking creatively, examining my life and even doing my yoga. Worth listening to, every single week.
I discovered the Chill Pak Hollywood Hour during the X-Con last year in Berlin and I have been an avid listerner ever since. If you're interested in movies, television and the mechanisms behind them, this is your show! Dean and Phil offer funny and great insights into these fields. It's a podcast that manages to both entertain you and leave you with lots of food for your thoughts.
In their weekly podcast 'The Chillpak Hollywood Hour', Phil Leirness and Dean Haglund offer a fresh, intelligent and insightful look at the entertainment industry. Both Leirness and Haglund are veterans behind, and in front of the camera, and bring unique and witty observations to the table about showbiz, current events and pop culture during every show. They are a fantastic team, seamlessly analyzing the week's news at a rapid-fire pace. And in a world filled with low-brow, re-hashed gossip, it is refreshing to hear these guys nail each and every bullet point, all the while enjoying themselves, and making each other laugh. From the opening theme, the show starts with a bang and never lets up. Writers, actors, film-makers and other industry professionals are regularly featured as guests, and supplement the show with their expertise and unique point of view. As an added treat, Leirness and Haglund have been treating the audience with commentary on some of the themes they cover in their upcoming documentary feature, The Truth Is Out There, a search for truth in a world of conspiracy. This podcast is not to be missed. I encourage you to tune in, and you will be rewarded with wisdom and laughs.
CPHH never fails to make me smile whenever I listen to it. Phil Leirness and Dean Haglund are both very intellectual people and always manage to make me think about movies, television, writers, directors etc. in a different way than I have in the past. They call the show "YOUR Chillpak Hollywood Hour" and they truly mean that. Send them questions, comments and concerns and they usually talk about it on air. They are dedicated to their fans and quite simply are two of the nicest, funniest guys you'll ever listen to. Do yourself a favor and listen to them, you'll learn something new every week!
The only podcast that I absoultely, always HAVE TO listen to the moment it appears in my iTunes. As a film student, it is so great to hear Dean and Phil discussing not only their favorites and least favorites, but also giving insight into the politics and the nitty-gritty of the industry and what it truley takes to make a film. Their opinions are always interesting and their back and forth banter is always hilarious and dynamic. If you're interest in film and TV, or just like having a laugh, check this podcast out! You won't regret it!
I love it! Funny, smart and honest. Check it out - you'll be hooked.
Finally, the truth is out there... Chillpak Hollywood Hour is a joy, an education, a hoot and an addiction: honest to God intelligent, passionate conversation that roars hilariously out the gate every single week . The hosts, Phil Leirness and Dean Haglund, bring their collective Hollywood purgatories to the table with a candor, insight and chemistry I've yet to find in any other podcast (or neighborhood bar for that matter). Dean's knowledge and experiences are as impressive as they are awesomely off the beaten path, and Phil has forgotten more about film than most people will ever know. Good times... Seriously, give it a shot and you'll be hooked...
Fans of the craft of Hollywood and artists alike will find this hour to be a good investment. Every airtime minute is well spent, no lulls, the conversational give-and-take is refreshing.
Dean and Phil bring a vim and verve to a smattering of subjects that makes this podcast hard to pigeon hole and a joy to listen to. It's subjects range from discussing the current events pertinent to Hollywood, to conspiracies and the supernatural to why Dean is so Canadian. It's definitely worth a listen especially if you are interested in film making.
I really like the inside look at so much of Hollywood in terms of why movies, TV and the people that produce the content think the way they do. As in touch with that as Dean and Phil are, their commentary never gets so inside that I feel like I'm on the outside. This is my favorite podcast to listen to when I'm hiking in the woods — as far from Tinseltown as I can be while still catching a whiff of the biz that is show.
I overheard two young had-to-be-wanna-be-actresses talking about this show in Starbucks on Sunday. They were hot so I figured I'd check out the show to honor them. Anyway this show turns out to be really good. I'm glad I went in for that premium coffee. Anyway, I didn't realize until 15 minutes in that the host Dean Haglund is from the X-Files Lone Gunman. He and other host are honest and funny in their takes. Definitely going on my subscriptions list.
