Love this podcast! Very informative and extremely interesting. I’m new to spinning, and really appreciate the knowledge that is brought to each episode, but on a level that interests, rather than intimidates.
This is an expert spinner and a spinning enthusiast sharing her deep knowledge of spinning. I love her calm voice and easy style. I’m grateful she still podcasts tho life gets in her way.
I have listened for many years to this well done spinning podcast. If you spin, this is a must have podcast to listen to. She explains things so clearly and I learn so much from her. Excellent teacher, spinner and really knows her stuff. Excellent quality show.
This podcast is full of practical and technical information related to spinning. Topics include discussion of various types of fibers, fiber preparation, dyeing and of course spining.
I enjoy listening to this podcast even though I've been spinning and knitting for many years. She takes the time to educate us in things that she's learning about her spinning voyage and is not afraid to say "oops" on occasion.
Thank you.
I'm still early in the episodes, but I'm enjoying this podcast very much. The tone is so relaxed, and I've never had an audio issue. I feel a little out of my league since I don't have much desire for the processing end of things (husband with a wool allergy), but the information is presented in an easy to follow way. The music is always interesting. I LOVE the spin-in episodes!
I don't know how she knows, but Yarnspinner always addresses a topic that I am struggling with at the time her podcast comes out! I learn so much from her every single time. Her delivery is excellent, to-the-point and she has a wonderful voice.
I am a new spinner and found this podcast and am so enjoying it. I do have to confess that I fast forward her music, not that it is bad, but I have too little time to listen to all my favorite podcasts and want to jump in to all the wonderful info on types of fiber, types of spinning and everything fiber related. This is by far the most informative podcast on spinning by far!
If your looking for a podcast that is truly a spinning fibery podcast, this is the one for you. Her reviews of different fibers and experience with them is an inspiration to try new fibers. The recording quality is good and her voice is very pleasant to listen to. I love the way the podcast ends with a "spin in" and a chat. Highly recommend this podcast to all hand-spinners and lovers of fiber.
This podcast is FAR too good to have escaped review thus far. Relaxing, educational, chock full of fantastic tips for fiber prep, spinning, carding, and so much more. Plus you get the virtual spin-ins complete with pleasantly humming spinning wheel in the background while you get to just kick back and listen to the "tales" portion. So peaceful. Fun excursions to dyeing workshops, interviews, glimpses into the podcaster's life and work history and family. Very enjoyable!
This is a very educational podcast while still very nice to listen too. The first ones were a bit difficult in the sound area but they are great now. I often listen more than once to absorb all the spinning information that is given in each podcast.
As a new spinner, I love this podcast! It's like having your own tutor and docent to the fiber world. thank you thank you!! Extremely high quality show.
Just recently found this podcast and am addicted. Made a promise to become a 'real' spinner this year and now have a great workshop that goes with me! So much information. THANK YOU!
I am treaaly enjoying this podcast. I have only had my wheel for a couple of months and am getting a lot of information from this podcast. I'm getting ready to download all of the episodes and save them to a playlist for reference.
I love her stories and the sound of the spinning wheel in the background. Yarnspinner seems to be making a valient attempt to preserve important knowledge in a new medium, which I appreciate. I always look forward to the next episode.
I agree that the audio in the first few episodes had problems, but if you begin listening after the Christmas episodes, this podcast is wonderful. The information about the various properties and history of the different breeds is terrific if you're a spinner. I know I've found it invaluable and I'm even tempted to purchase a fleece and start from scratch to see if I can take wool from fleece to yarn.
This podcast is like having someone right beside you, teaching you how to take care of Angora rabbits, choose fleeces, decide how to process them, and then how to go about the processing. The podcaster alternates between the informational episodes (my favorite) and a spinalong with music and stories. I haven't listened to all of them, but I listened to several of the very first ones, and I didn't find the sound quality to be a problem in listening to them. For substantial content this is one of the best I've found.
Like most beginner podcasts, this one went through the learning curve of improvement. Start with the episode after the Christmas music and you will find improved audio. There is still some music always enjoyable and good to spin by.
I was excited to see a spinning podcast on iTunes, but quickly lost my enthusiasm when I started listening. This is a good example of what not to do with your podcast: The sound quality is awful because it's apparently recorderd using the built-in mike on an mp3 player. This may have improved in the last episode, but who can tell, because the episode is all music and no spinning! Decide on a format and stick with it. I want to listen to a podcast about spinning, not Christmas songs. Focus already.
