Reviews For Republic Forces Radio Network -- A Star Wars Clone Wars Podcast

I like the show as a whole. However, Nathan is killing it. He just takes over. There are four other hosts who we rarely get to hear from. At one point, in the Order 66 arc review, he starts talking at 18:08 and doesn't stop until 22:41. For 4 min and 34 secs he drones on and on. Awful.
I've been listening to the show for a few years now. My only complaint is that this year takes way too long for the podcast to come out after the show airs. Everything else is very interesting
It's the original, and still the best.
Fantastic work! These guys do a fantastic job breaking the show down and being honest... Keep it up!!! Ryan N Jamey
Always an interesting discussing of last week's episode. Lots of good information but after every episode I always wonder if these folks actually like the show. Lots and lots of griping and nitpicking. Gets old quick.
You guys are great! I've tried to listen to a lot of different clone wars podcasts, but this one stands out the most! Even if I don't catch up with other podcasts, I always stay caught up on this one. Thanks for such a great show (and yes, you guys are better than forcecast clone wars roundtable).

One of my fav podcasts. Better than forcecast. Should get a podcast picture though.
This is a great Podcast. It's well produced and very professional.I also love the different opinions everyone has about TCW and Nathan's Continuity Corner makes this one stand out from the others.I also like Jen's female perspective on the show too.I've been a listener for years and will continue for years to come.
Many of the hosts are negative especially nathen p butler. He is very annoying. After all clone wars is a great show and you don't have to nippick everything. I can't stand the hour long discussions about logic. Forcecast is a little better
I love this show! Ever since I have discovered it last year I have listened to every single podcast the day they come out. I think that everyone in the cast does a great job evaluating the show from every single point of view, from an EU fan to a parent of younger children. My on complaint doesn't even have to do with the show, I just don't like how they put it on iTunes almost a week after the cartoon was aired. But, all in all, it's a great show. Keep up the great work guys!!!! (Keep up the good work Jonathan)
They discuss the things I wonder about. Good roundtables and always funny. Most importantly they have the deepest knowledge of the EU compared with other podcasts and respect the EU!
Kidnapped isn't downloading! Someone plz help!!! Thanks...
I really enjoy the show. If I were to say anything negative it would be, please N. P.B. could you please stop with the stand up routine all the time. while entertainin, I downloaded a podcast about star wars. The constant singing and jokes make me groan. Although the rap in the outtake was great, just dial it back a little. All in all GREAT podast, jokes and singing included. keep up the good work!
I love Star Wars and wondering what may be to come, but between the complaining and the baseless speculation, I've stopped listening to this. I still like SW Action News as the negative attitude has been slightly curbed from what it used to be, but this one? Yeech.
I love these guys and Jen. They always make me laugh. And the really make you think about the episodes in a different way. Keep up the good work!
I love the podcast. You guys rock
What a fun POD cast. Love the show keep up the good work.
Heard about you guys thanks to Jerry's Transformers appearance on Now Playing. So glad I did! Loving the look back at the Clone Wars Microseries and all the additional EU stuff that you guys bring up throughout the podcast. And the outtakes are awesome! Keep up the great work guys!
I'd written a previous review but wanted to revise my comments to reflect some changes in the show. Previously, I thought the show had been too negative and it didn't sound like the panel much liked the show. I was left wondering why they bothered watching the show, much less produce a podcast. However, with a shake up in the panel members, I find the show more enjoyable. The consensus opinion usually comes closer to reflecting my own opinions of the TV show. They've also involved a wider stable of commentators and the moderator strives to give equal time to dissenting opinions instead of straight arming the commentator who might have a less popular take on a given episode. All in all, much improved… even if there still is an over emphasis on minor points of continuity.
Out of all the pointless & crappy "Podcasts" out there, RFRN stands out as practically the only competent Podcast. Each episode is quite enjoyable. I'm hoping they will do a Season 3 Wrap-up soon. I have to give credit where it's due. This is the only Clone Wars Podcast I listen to becuase RFRN is that good.
I've been listening to this podcast for sometime now, there are two things that bug me. 1, the podcast takes a full week after the episode it discusses to be put up...which makes it a little difficult to follow when it's been a whole week since you've seen the episode. Then that night the new episode airs and you tend to forget what was discussed in the podcast. 2, Nathan P. Butler, he is very knowledgable but almost takes over every episode and it can get annoying. Please let others express their opinions and also turn up the mic on Jen please. Otherwise great work guys and thanks for the podcast!
Great but where does the movie go
This is a great podcast that is fun to listen to especially if I've seen the episode. Keep it up.
Contrary to some of the reviews below, these Star Wars podcasters love Star Wars and love the Clone Wars. I have been listening since season two and love the great breakdown of the roundtable each episode These guys love the Clonewars but some of the last few episodes of Season 3 have been seemingly slower than the first two seasons. Nathan P. Butler, the more critical Expanded Universe (EU) and Continuity expert, simply points out that some of the new episodes have seemingly rolled over some EU stories and; have become less fun—lacking action and story in comparison with Seasons 1 & 2. These podcasters are simply voicing an opinion about how they feel about some of this season's more bland episodes. I believe they give good balanced opinions from a Star wars fan's point of view. I really enjoy this podcast and can't wait for the next ones to come. I highly recommend this podcast to anyone who loves star wars and the Clone Wars
You have no idea what you are talking about. They enjoy watching the clone wars and they have a lot of good things to say. It's not that they don't like it; they have constructive criticism.
Gets my head thinking and is very fun to listen to.
I have to say that I truly don't understand why a group of guys (and one girl) would continually do a podcast on a show that they seem to not like very much. I love Clone Wars, and anything Star Wars. I'm not really an EU fan, so I guess you could say that Clone Wars is my EU. I love the CW and everything that goes with it, but this group seems to have nothing positive to say about the show. I had to stop downloading it. Each week they spend most of the show talking about how they did not like this or did not like that. All they do is complain about how the show walks all over the EU....I'm sorry guys, but George Lucas made the movies, and now he makes the Clone Wars. It's his story to tell, get over it. If you don't like it, then don't watch it. Just keep reading your EU. And for God's sake, don't do a podcast about a show you don't like!!!!!!!!!
I throught it was a great podcast...and its good to here someone elses opinion on the clone wars....keep podcasting and dont lisen to the negitive reveiws...me and alot of other people enjoy your podcast! Dont forget...we are lisening!! And want to here your opinion on clone wars!! Would love to join your podcast! Got the mic and all! You guy miss alot of poits ...esp. From brain invaders!!
Awsome podcast for Star Wars The Clone Wars fans.
I really enjoy the show and think everyone brings something to the round table that gets us thinking. I do wish there were a few more guests that could relate these stories to the EU (books) a little more so non-EU folks could get more character detail. Mace Windu's experiences in Shatterpoint and how that must drive him to always be on Anakin's case. Professor Butler does a great job but seems to be the only EU fan at the table. That goes without saying how much I like continuity corner. I always find myself turning the volume down quite a bit for your feminine guest to avoid the unexplainable increased volume not to mention her diction when annunciating very cutting "s" sounds.
I've been listening to this ever since the first episode of the Clone Wars "Ambush" aired. I originally enjoyed all of the insights into the details of the show, however with the latest review of the Droids cartoon I was sickened by Nathan P. Butler's evaluation of how this fit into the continuity. Gimme a break, it was an 80's cartoon, long before the concept of Star Wars continuity even existed. I miss the days when Arnie and Marjorie and some friends would talk about what they thought of the show rather than the snobbish critique it has become.
I like the new episodes of Clone Wars each week but Droids is just annoying. I may stop the subscription if Droids podcasts continue. I would though like to see more Clone Wars again (possibly the 2001-03 series from Cartoon Network).
Good Stuff! Keep up the good work!
I have to agree with others and say that this podcast being to negative. I agree that not all episodes Clone Wars are masterpieces, however they are very well done! We still have a lot of new Star Wars!
This is an awesome podcast!!! Words can't describe it!! @rock and roll outlaw: WRONG PODCAST
One reviewer says they don't like all the negativity, I say I love it! I'm glad someone else notices all of the plot holes, continuity errors and bad writing that goes on in this show. Don't get me wrong. The show is fun and all (most of the time). But it is so frustratingly close to a GREAT show, but the story lines always hold it back. I'm glad there is a podcast out there that points this out. But it's not entirely negative! They give praise where it's due. But if you want a love-fest, go to the forcecast. Those guys are so easily entertained by the most obvious plot devises. They spend most of their time laughing at their own lame jokes. Plus they are willfully ignorant of OTHER EU. Yes, that's right. Clone Wars is just as much EU as any novel. These guys are full of EU knowledge. Keep up the great work!
I'm a 30 something guy with wife and child who enjoy the Clone Wars show. While I do like the "round-table" discussions, and am intruiged to hear the differing perpectives, I sometimes become annoyed with Arnie. It seems he's always complaining and griping about everything. I like his thoughts, but he needs to tone it back a few notches.
I just came across the star wars action news podcast about a week ago and I must say I really enjoy it. They were talking about this podcast and I decided to check it out, and I must say I'm really disappointed. The members of the roundtable seem more like Trek fans than Star Wars fans in the way that they say "yeah, I really enjoyed it! I don't understand this and why did they do this and what about this guy and I didn't like what they did with him and he had no business to be there," and list a hundred other complaints, but then close out their arguments with "but all in all, this was one of the better episodes I've seen and I really enjoyed it!" Don't get me wrong, the guys seem very knowledgable, but it seems like they are deliberately trying to not enjoy The Clone Wars, especially when they put it down by calling it a kid's show and that's the reason they don't like stuff. It just seems like they don't enjoy watching, and if that's the case, then you don't have to watch it.
Republic Forces Radio Network is a well-produced podcast. I appreciate getting a balanced, adult viewpoint on The Clone Wars series. Many reviewers have commented that the podcast is "too negative" and that the reviewers need to be more lighthearted. To this, I have two responses. First of all, just because it's a kids show, doesn't mean that we can't criticize it. There are animated television shows aimed at both children and adults who do a better job of balancing jokes, fun, and interesting plots and characterization than this show does... it's ok to point that out. This show is coming from the perspective of an audience that's already familiar with the Star Wars universe and it assumes that listeners have that familiarity too. For me, this is helpful - I want a critical, adult perspective. Secondly, in the second season I do believe the negativity has toned down somewhat. Partly because the show is just better this season and partly because they have reworked the format of the show, bringing in actor interviews and using Jerry as a moderator. Most of my own criticisms of the show would have to do with the fact that it is recorded live. Discussions of continuity sometimes aren't as in depth as they might have been because people are speaking off the cuff, for example. However, the live panel nature is also part of the charm - many TV podcasts become so formulaic and really depend on the charisma of the hosts - here, you're getting fresh perspectives every week! All in all good show and vastly improved in the second season.
I for one love the podcast and also enjoy S.W.A.N. I think that the roundtables are interesting and helpful and that the episode description before is good because I usually don't catch Clone Wars on cartoon network.
The new world of Clone Wars expanded universe awaits!!!! From the makers of the BEST Star Wars Action News
The negativity of this show is incredibly vexing. It's almost as if they're paid to dislike TCW show. Is it not possible to hunt down just one person for the panel who actually enjoys the show you're reviewing? What's even more vexing is a community of Star Wars toy collectors complaining about this show being too immature. You buy toys!!! How is your inner child not screaming at you? The only reason to listen to this show is if you love, as I do, Arnie and Marjorie's regular collecting podcast, and are curious of their take in the Clone Wars series. Nevertheless, by the end of these roundtables, I hope that I'm never stuck in a room with these joyless people, as I would have to jump out a window for sweet relief. If you want to avoid Star Wars related ulcers, I recommend the Forcecast. They are able to critique Star Wars while still showing a genuine, infectious love for the franchise.
The best Clone Wars roundtable discussion out there!
