I wasn't sure what I was expecting from this author. But the novel was quite an interesting experience. Other than some audio problems in chapter six where the audio pitched down a little, I had enjoyed listening to the novella. It was my first attempt at listening to a free podiobook.
I do understand that I shoudn't expect an explanation for most things in magic realism, but I didn't quite get the symbolism of the monkeys and the monkey king. Were they intended as a metaphor for something about monkeys? Or were they used by Brady Dale as a form of Writer's block busting?
Ah well. I'll keep an eye out for this author and his future works.
